Which one of you was this?

I vote in every election. Last night we had local ones here in PA. I had a really lousy choice between two local candidates that I really didn't like. I couldn't stomach casting a vote for either and I hate leaving ballot spots blank so I kiko'ed it.

I know at some point in the near future either one of those candidates or their supporters will glance at the write ins and wonder who the hell is Kiko Alonso? It's just my way of extending the Bills brand.

Should have voted for Monty Brewster.

Electing judges is a good thing. Voting for one of them just validates the back room deals made to have them each run on both tickets. That's what's really a joke.

If you're saying that judges should be appointed, who should appoint them? Elected officials? Who are influenced by special interest groups? Well, that's what we've already got.

I also don't get the outrage over a guy wasting a ballot for the sake of a joke. Most people don't even vote, and most of those who do are seriously uninformed. If one guy wasting his vote is enough to get someone riled up, I'd have to image that same person probably can't sleep at night knowing how few people are truly actively participating in the process.

Really? I know for a fact that some places like immigration and customs don't allow cameras. I figured polling places would be afraid of people zooming in on other peoples ballots, or taking pictures of the sign in sheets, or other such things and ban them as well. Guess you really can learn something new every day.

Right, but like I said earlier, everyone gets a privacy screen. It would be exceeding difficult to take a picture of someone else's ballot, if not impossible. You are also provided a file folder to cover your ballot for the time you are not behind a screen.

It is definitely illegal to photograph someone else's ballot without that person's permission. However, cameras are most definitely allowed in polling places. Ever watch the news on election day? There are plenty of shots of politicians and "regular" citizens casting their votes.

Varies from state to state. It's a misdemeanor in NY.

I'm not sure what you're saying is a misdemeanor, but I think you might be looking at outdated legislation. This has come up in at least the last 2 presidential elections, and I can assure you it is totally legal to publicly display a picture of your own ballot. Even in NYS:

New York State law prohibits a voter from showing his ballot to others after it is filled out. But lawyers for the state Board of Elections determined today that a photo is different than an actual ballot, spokesman John Conklin said.

That was exactly the legislation to which I was referring.
