Outside of Eric Wood, no offensive linemen on the Bills wears a knee brace. Kraig Urbik went down yesterday with a knee injury, not surprising he wasn't wearing a knee brace. Is this a coincidence? The DonJoy armor series knee brace, http://www.djoglobal...ts/donjoy/armor, runs around $1,000 each. Couldn't an argument be made that spending $2,000 for 2 good knee braces help protect your $500,000 or more per season player investment? Is this a question that is best suited for the analytics dept? Last season, Glenn, Levitre and Urbik didn't miss a snap and Pears/Hairston kind of platooned depending on who was healthy. Wood, the one guy who wears a knee brace (according to you) got hurt for two games as he does every year. I would venture to say that in recent years, the Bills offensive line has been particularly resistant to injury. What in the world are you talking about? That's right Doug Legursky didn't injure his knee in the preseason. Are you denying these braces don't help you avoid injury? If so, I have some tin foil for you. Do you scrutinize every team and see how many of them lose backup guards for a month here and there? And whom amongst them was wearing knee braces at the time? Are you certain that Legursky wasn't wearing a knee brace? I guarantee you that, again, in recent years, the Bills have suffered fewer injuries on their offensive line than just about any team in the league. Every team gets injuries! In 2012 wearing a knee brace he gets crushed and he just suffers an MCL sprain and was out only 2 weeks. I'll take sprains over tears any day of the week. I'll take sprains over tears any day of the week. so the lack of knee brace was the only explanation? and our guys are getting hurt at a higher rate than someone elses because of it? im not opposed to the measure, but im not sure you made a great case besides "knee brace good, injury bad." Like NHL players went out on their own and started wearing helmets. Or like NASCAR drivers didn't need someone to die and then the sport to mandate the use of HANS restraints? There are a long list of examples of this kind of thing. I can remember all the flack Eric Dickerson got because he wore pretty much every pad that was available to him, including eye protection. And Franco Harris catching a ton of flack because he'd step out of bounds rather than take a hit to get an extra yard. It's a machismo attitude. Generally, the Patriots are ahead of the curve on a lot of matters, and things have typically worked out well for them. I do believe that Minn QB, former KC QB, and former NE QB Matt Cassel stated the Patriots don't get as many concussions because they utilize a state of the art mouth piece. So, would it really be that bad of an idea to take one of their practices into consideration? the problem wasnt the idea that they should, it was declaring them injury prone with no base line, not linking any kind of info, etc.... like i said, it amounted to "braces good, injuries bad" when boiled down. its not a bad idea but declaring that woods knee wouldve been ok with a brace, or that because he had one there wasnt a tear just isnt really great content.
