Lawrence Taylor gets 6 years probation

Recommended Posts

That's bad. He got off waaaaayyyyyy to easy, come on LT, your above this.

I agree, he got off way too easy. L.T. has the money, if he really needed to get laid that bad, fly out to Nevada to the Mustang Ranch and do it legally and not with an illegal teenage prostitute. Another dumb ass football player doing something completely stupid. "Numba 72....AH **** 27!!"

He is? Since when?

Although LT is a dirtbag, I can't see putting him in prison for this. There was a pimp involved who is the person that should be doing the long term in prison.

Just goes to show you, if you got the money, you can by your way out of jail (O.J. & Robert Blake were able to do that).

I remember Bob Nelson's football routine, that was funny as hell! Thanks for posting it!

Both LT & the pimp are at fault and should both be charged. LT shouldn't have looked for an illegal prostitute. Second, the girl was under age, L.T. didn't even bother to think "This girl looks way too young"?, he should have said "hell no", but he was too stupid/horny and went through with it anyways. He's a dumb ass and got off easy!

First of all, LT is broke broke broke. Second, johns don't go to jail on their first bust.

This "buy your way out of jail" stuff is endlessly repeated.

L.T.'s broke? He was broke enough to get a prostitute...then hire an attorney. Plus he gets retirement money from the NFL.

So, you're saying O.J. and Robert Blake didn't buy their ways out of their murder trials? So any John/Jane would have received the same sentence as those two?

Uh, they were both charged. What do you think this story is about? But great idea to start having johns card prostitutes.

What do OJ and Robert Blake have to do with anything? Was someone killed in this story? Stop with this asinine comparison.

you are right LT should have been charged with the soliciting an illegal prostitute, but I think the pimp is the bigger problem in this case and deserves stricter punishments. If it came out that LT was specifically looking for an underage hooker, then I think he should have received the same punishments as the pimp.

You have sex with an underage prostitute and see if you get probation.

Yes. Neither "bought their ways out of their murder trials". Both were tried and aquitted.

Anyway, let's take OJ first. You may have missed it, but after 9 months of highly technical testimony form dozens of witnesses, the jury deliberated only 4 hours before aquiting him. It was widely and accurately described as the most infamous and blatant case of jury nullification (look that one up) in US legal history. In other words, that jury was in such a hurry to aquit OJ (from the beginning) that he could have had the same result with the Public Defender.

As for Blake, the murder weapon didn't match his gun. The jury wouldn't convict. He's so rich , he still owes his lwayers $3 million.

As for LT being so rich he could afford a $300 dollar hooker AND a lawyer is pretty silly--go back and reread that one. Look, he got a deal that is given 10,000 times a day all over the country. Obvioulsy the DA knew he couldn't convince a jury that LT knew the girl was one or two years underage so he did what every DA does on every such case--he offered a plea deal on the only charge he could prove--misdemeanor charges of solicitation. He also got a sex opffender rap--which is far worse than a simple solicitation. It is much more likely that if he wasn't a famous athlete, he would have gotten a slap on the wrist for this crime which none of us would ever have known about.

But please expand on your "money buys your way out of convictions" theory. Are you suggesting the DA/judge/jury were bribed? Or that LT's super high priced lawyer was so mesmerizing with his skillful use of the balck art of jurisprudence that he put a spell on the DA--compelling him to offer LT a lesser charge? Tell us.

As for buying one's way out, unfortunately it does happen (far too often). Yet in this case, LT is reported to be broke so

the cash he had was his celebrity status.

LT isn't a bad guy. He wanted a hooker. So what. So did Eliot Spitzer...

LT bugs a lot of the Drug Prohibitionists who hate him for succeeding while coke using...

When any of you are as good in your profession as LT was in his, then I'll listen to you and your "judgments..."

Here's hoping LT runs for something like governor on the Libertarian Ticket!

Not sure how you quantified that.

Anyway, maybe you're referring to money buying competent representation? Ohterwise are you suggesting bribery?

It's fame/celebrity, "not money", that gets these guys off. Or it's just that the case is no good (as in LT's felony charge).

Then explain the findings of the civil suit brought against O.J.? Also on Mike Ox's point of Celebrity status, my ex-girlfriend's cousin was 15 years old at the time when she had conseual sex with her next door neighbor (who was in his late 30's at the time), the only reason anyone found out they had sex got pregnant. Do you think that guy got probation....NO!!!! His ass went to jail for statutory rape (even though it was consenual). And what's the difference between that guy and Lawerence Taylor.....?

You mean besides media driven vengeance? You do understand that a criminal trial and a civil trial are two completely different things with two completely different standards of innocence or guilt, right?

A next door neighbor certainly knows how old the girl is; a john normally doesn't know a prostitute personally (or ask her age). Also, fair or not, the legal system is much less likely to look at a prostitute as a 'victim' compared to the sweet girl next door.

Of course money and power buy influence in the courthouse, but that doesn't seem to fit in these examples.

KD beat me to it. Civil verdict was payback--and a correct interpretation of the evidence.

The "girl next door" is a really bad analogy.

I disagree with this part. If you sleep with your underage neighbor, you are likely going to know that she is underage. Hence an admission of guilt should follow. If you do not know the age of your neighbor, chances are you know if she still attends high school, which should be a big "jailbait" sign. That said, KD is right that the underage prostitute is less likely to be seen as the victim, as most johns probably do not card a hooker and the fact that the pimp probably is one more at fault in this situation.
