Rick Sanchez Out at CNN After Suggesting Network is Run by Jews

Recommended Posts

When asked by radio host Pete Dominick (who used to work as a warm-up comic for the Daily Show) against whom he thought Stewart was bigoted, Sanchez said, "everybody else who's not like him. Look at his show, I mean, what does he surround himself with?"

Dominick pointed out that as a Jew, Stewart was also a minority - to which Sanchez responded, snickering, "Please, what are you kidding?.. Yeah, a very powerless people."

"I'm telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart," Sanchez said. "To imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority? Yeah."

Rick Sanchez Fired from CNN

Oh well, I kind of liked the guy too ... had an edge, and didn't shy away from controversial topics, unlike the other talking head butt smoochers. Jon Stewart is funny as hell too ... is it OK to like them both?

As far as I can tell he basically said:

1. Most people positions of authority at CNN and the Daily Show are like Jon Stewart (Possibly meaning Jewish)

2. Jon Stewart is bigoted against people who aren't like him (possibly referring to Gentiles)

3. Jews are not an oppressed minority

What exactly is all the outrage about?

For starters, do you have one iota of evidence that Stewart is bigoted against anyone in particular?

Well it is kind of silly to state they're an oppressed minority, when statistically they're probably the most privileged people in the country. Don't know for sure but just assuming that's the case given the small size versus the number of prominent individuals.

This Rick Sanchez? http://www.sportsjournalists.com/forum/index.php/topic,40842.0.html

The friggin' idiot who made fellow broadcast journalists (and the rest of us) cringe when he anchored the Balloon Boy fiasco? The one who, when he was doing live shots while covering Hurricane Ike, made us root for the hurricane to take him? The one who pointed out the Galapagos Islands on a map while talking about a possible tsunami headed for Hawaii, and then asked a guest how high nine meters would be "in English"? When NY Times NFL writer Judy Battista saw my tweet about his firing, she replied, "Remember him from Miami. Let me say 'finally.'"

After that beatdown, no wonder he doesn't like Stewart. LOL.

He might just be right about that one. I was reading something the other day - it was different battles through the years like VHS vs. Beta, Blue Ray vs. DVDHD, etc......And, one was Metric vs. English (I guess the system we have of yards, etc. is called the English system)

Actually, neither thing is interesting.

I think he was implying some anti semite bias in my comment. Some people have an overly attenuated sense of political correctness. Jon Stewart is merely one of many in show business with (probably)Ashkenazi roots who found it necessary to change his name for the sake of his career. The fact that Rick Sanchez railed against Jews running the media is merely coincidental.

More interesting, that you found the need to point that out.

When there is a discussion of Sanchez bringing Stewart's religion into the issue and then Sanchez essentially states that the media is controlled by Jews you basically open up the discussion to a VERY sensitive area.

When you point out that Stewart's real last name is in fact VERY Jewish you are "pointing it out" as if the readers didn't already know. It's not like he tries to hide it!

For comparative purposes, I could say "Jack Spikes, whose real last name is Soprano, has been known to eat at Italian restaurants". Basically what you did was a cute passive/aggressive slander.

Will someone help me. please.

I've replied to this thread numerous times and all of them have been erased. None of them were even close to being racist or "controversial" but for some reason it looks like the mods are deleting my posts.

What gives??

I know I've heard posters in the past complain about messages being deleted but this is the first time it's happened to me.

VERY bushleague.

and by the way... I've been posting here since the mid/late '90's.

I would think that in all that time you may have noticed that politics, and the incessant mindless shouting that inevitably follows, has been absent from this board. When somebody starts jabbering about liberals or Bush or whatever it is removed on first sight , along with any replies following it. If it becomes a repetitive pattern for anybody, they are politely handed their hat. If you are incapable of self-restraint and must interject it unto every last aspect of your life and the poor unfortunates who stray to close to your slobbering invective, then there is an energetic, oft entertaining and even occasionally informative Politics board but two clicks away.
