Levi Jones

The fact that the Bills don't have an nfl caliber left tackle on the roster and there is very little in free agency makes me wonder exactly how far has levi Jones fallen . If the bills could find even a decent Left tackle we would have a lot more options in round one and could even take a chance on guys like fox or saffold a little further on down the road.

At this point in his injury plagued career he would be a decent depth player on the line for the tackle positions. He would have been a reasonable pickup last year when the line was hollow. Having Kirk Chambers playing the LT position, let alone being on the active roster, was an insult to the paying customer. The organization should be ashamed of itself for the way it handled the OL staffing last year.

Correct. The most weighty issue that Russ Brandon or Ralph Wilson should be allowed to strategize on now, is the endzones - green or red?

Here's a list of tackles, right and left, ranked by performance last year. It's an excellent site and they watch and score every game. They set it up so the average score is zero. The scores are cumulative, you get a new grade added on to your total every week you play.

Check the list out. You will find Levi Jones astonishingly close to the bottom of the list for a guy who only played nine games. At first, it looks like he was the worst tackle in the league in terms of score per game. Don't worry, there was one guy who was actually a bit worse at that key measure, just a bit. His name is Demetrius Bell.

Yup.

The good news is that Wood and Levitre were rookies, so they had good reason to be fairly bad. I would expect (hope?) for major improvements this year. But the fact that everyone on the line was in a new position really hurt last year, and the injuries prevented them from gelling much at all.

Brad Butler was ranked in the top ten when he was inured, but he'd only been in for a week or two, so it may not have been statistically significant.

So the 2 recent highly-regarded OTs taken at the top of the draft in Joe Thomas & Jake Long are 1,2. Get what you pay for.

Jared Gaither at #6. Agree with others who said the Bills should make him an offer, even if he is a restricted free agent. I'd rather give up the #9 pick for him rather than take a chance on someone who's never played in the NFL & has question marks like Anthoiny Davis.

Cornell Green at 48?? And how much did they pay that stiff?

I'd love to get Gaither, but the Ravens aren't going to let him go.

At 48, Green is below average, but way way better than any of our other options. We paid him $3 mill a year for 3 years, market value for guys like him. Not a bad pickup, especially if he ends up being a depth guy. If we draft an RT, he is likely to need time to develop, and having Green gives him that.

If you like this site, click on Michael Oher's name and you'll see his season broken down game-by-game. This works for any player, by the way. Compare his scores when he played at RT and when he played at LT. If you total his games at RT and prorate his score across 16 games, he's #3 on the list. But if you total his games at LT and prorate his score across 16 games, he's #75 on the list. That's a HUGE difference, obviously. Oher might develop into an LT some day, but right now he's one of the best RIGHT tackles in the league and one of the WORST LEFT tackles.

That's why the Ravens aren't going to let Gaither go.

Well according to PFF the Bills got 2 of the top 6 ILB's in the league (including andra). This sight is very unreliable as its just stats dutes

We got 2 of the top 6 ILBs? Excellent. Poz has been a very very solid guy, and if we had had a good DL, he would have been even better. That's good news about Davis, though.

Stats don't tell the whole story, but they do tell an awful lot.

It's way way better than "He sucks, anyone can see it." or "He's great. If you can't see it, you don't know football."

They watch every game and grade the performance.
