Why the Bills Shouldnt Draft a QB This Year

Right now i believe this is a weak draft for QB. The only QB i would draft is Sam Bradford and he will be gone by the latest at 5 with washington.

Next Year's Draft you have Ryan Mallett and Jake Locker coming out who are better prospects than Bradford and Clausen. You will probably also have Andrew Luck coming out possibly from Stanford, this year will definately show what kind of QB he is and he is being coached by an NFL Qb in Harbaugh.

Bills fan have to face, nothing can happen this year that will make the Buffalo Bills contenders, there is no free agent out there that will make them better, so this year is not a must win, we need to start gathering the pieces to become a good team. i believe we got some key pieces on defense with the two young guys in the secondary, and polsulzny.

Draft your Offensive Tackle in the first round, probably Trent Williams right, if Okung is there, then take him. Draft another Tackle IMO in the 2nd round, you can still get a really good tackle early in the 2nd round.

you will have wood, hangartner, levitre, trent williams and 2nd round OT now on your line. The line will have improved considerably.

you keep lynch and jackson together, you neeed 2 RB's in this league. Free Agency has shown that you can pick up a veteran WR easily, they are not a hot commodity.

Next year, The Bills will draft in the top 10, maybe the top 5. They will get their chance at either Mallett or Locker.

Rams will get Bradford, i believe skins will get clausen(bills will be worse). New England has Raiders Pick next year LOL and they have Brady. Tampa has Freeman and Johnson, Lions have Stafford. Chiefs have Cassell but they may look(they will be better than the Bills). Seattle and Cleveland willl need QB's but they should be better than the Bills IMO.

so the Bills can draft a better QB in 2011. why just settle for QB in 2010. build the lines this year, get a foundation. go after the QB in the next draft.

this year is lost already, unless you are a super optimist, there is a chance, but the Jets are a force now, the Dolphins are getting better, Patriots are the Patriots. we are the worse team in the AFC East for sure, playoffs arent coming, and if the playoffs arent coming, whats the point of another 8-8 season.

Lets build the core, like the successful teams on the line this year, get our stud QB next year(ryan mallett is the guy i like 6.7' and a rocket arm, perfect for buffalo)

even if we put 7th next year, there arent many teams at the bottom that need QB's. they have already drafted QB's (i.e stafford and rams-bradford) the raiders would be down but the pats have their pick. we will have a shot at locker or mallett. even if we get a clausen or lefovur, our season will be bad still and then with a top 10 pick, do the bills have the guts to take mallett or locker after drafting a QB the year before?

note: anyone can say we will do great this year, but we are missing pieces in the D, not alot, but we cant get anything in free agency to address it, we are missing WR, OL, QB still on offense, we can address 1-2 of those needs in the draft but they probably wont be a factor this year.

You are right to identify all of the holes on our team. But a great QB can make up for a lot of other shortcomings and a great QB is absolutely necessary to win a Super Bowl in today's NFL.

The Bills shouldn't reach for garbage, but if there's a guy they like in the first three rounds, I say they pull the trigger. All of these QB's have bust or boon potential; Mallett looks like a bust to me, but who knows? We need to pull the trigger on a QB.

i know we've got all these holes, but considering the potential impact of a bona fide nfl qb, i don't see any harm in picking a qb this year. just because we draft one this year doesn't mean we can't draft one next year.

i agree we should focus on the lines primarily, but i think if there's a qb we like that isn't too much of a reach- grab him.

for the most part, drafting a lineman can be as much as a crapshoot as drafting a qb

See - Rodgers, Aaron

hey i am not saying we dont need a QB. WE DO NEED A QB.

But if clausen and bradford are gone are you guys really ok with having mccoy, tebow, snead, lefevour or jarret brown as your QB of the future.

if the bills draft a QB in the first 3 rounds this year, they will not go after a QB next year. they will give the QB time to be groomed.

put a gun to your head, would you rather want locker/mallett/luck or mccoy/tebow/snead/lefevour/brown.

i would take a shot on the first 3.

WE CANNOT REACH AT QB. GO FOR THE BETTER QB NEXT YEAR. WE WILL HAVE OUR CHOICE WITH A TOP 10 PICK.

See - Rodgers, Aaron

I would like to see Aaron Rodgers and seeing that he had a few years to sit and watch behind a GREAT QB he is a different type. Rodgers was hit a ton at the start of the season and looked like he was going to get killed then his line started blocking for him and it all changed but if I were a cheese head I would have cringed every time he took a big hit.

Big Ben runs for his life half of the games.

He has a great defense that helps him win. Do you really want to take a chance at saying hey jimmy clausen, go behind center and run for your life and make plays.

For Every Success Story of QB's with bad lines, there is 10 BAD STORIES

I say we use our first 5 picks on a QB. Combine that with the 3 QB's on staff already makes 8. Because I figure behind this o-line we'll be starting a new QB every other game.
:censored::censored:

The thing is both the so called "franchise" QB's in this draft have injuries they are rehabbing from, Clausen foot, Bradford arm.

Clausen is closer to being a "right now" player because he was in the ND pro style offense and ran in a pro style system under Charlie Weiss, Mike Mayock equates him with Mark Sanchez.

Bradford is more Matt Ryan, but has already suffered two shoulder injuries in college and once you injure a shoulder it has a tendency to become more susceptible to another injury.

Bradford has looked great in college because his O line was very solid and he was hardly ever touched in most games. In the games where he was hit and harassed he didn't play well at all.

Both of these guys are huge unknowns and once they preform at their pro days it will give the scouts some insight as to how they have recovered from their injuries.

My take... yea the Bills need a really good QB, but they might already have one in the three they currently have on the roster. All three are young and still learning and could really develop well under a decent offensive mind in Chan Gailey.

C'mon guys, how could any QB on the Bills roster develop under Dick Jauron and his staff of clowns, they couldn't...they didn't.

Build up the O line and see what you have in the 3 young QB's on the team. If they all fail behind a good O line then we all positively know it is them and not the coaches, the system, the line.

P.S.The last thing I would do is draft Bradford to play behind the current Bills O line, he wouldn't survive the first few games and re-injure that shoulder, another wasted first round draft pick.

Just to toss a quick reply out there, I honestly don't care what we draft this year or in the following draft as long as we take the best players available and listen to our scouts (expect DBs - I think we are good there).

This is not going to be a 1 year rebuild and there are plenty of holes to fill...best case scenario is that we hit on every move, we are still 3 years out. If we are able to get a qb this year, or its next year or the year after, it doesn't matter. We need OL help, we need DL help, LBs and a QB - after this season we may need another WR or 2... This draft happens to be deep in linemen, if somehow we have a shot at getting Bradford or the top qb we have ranked, do you pass it up? Who knows what our position in the following year will be...We could always get line help in the latter rounds as well...

I don't care who we draft as long as they have a track record of being players, aren't one-year wonders, want to be here and are playing cause they love the game and not looking to get a big contract and suck...we have lots of holes that will take 2 to 3 drafts to fill...just take the best player available

A guy by the name of Jim Kelly had a pretty serious shoulder injury in his senior year before the draft...I think he turned out ok and didnt really injure his shoulder again....Just saying....

I definately wouldn't play a rookie behind our line as it is right now...I honestly would just run a wildcat and not have a "qb" out there to get killed....

Kelly's injury was very serious as he had pins inserted to hold it in place.

Drew Brees also has had a bad shoulder injury... and we all know how that turned out. Good thing the Dolphins passed on that injured shoulder :censored:

So yea, if the surgery goes right, as does the rehab and the player fully recovers from the injury, then it is a non factor. As I stated earlier the scouts will find out if Bradford's arm is OK at his pro day, if he is at full arm strength he will go in the top 5, if not... he could slide quite a ways.
