That 3.4 yards-per-carry average allowed is a far cry from the league-worst 4.8 yards-per-carry average the team surrendered last season. However, the team has also surrendered a touchdown - and add in the scrambling abilities of Jay Cutler, Caleb Hanie and David Garrard, and you can add another four carries, 19 yards and two scores to those totals." Here's an excerpt on the Bills starting run defense over the 3 preseason games. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=2&defensiveStatisticCategory=GAME_STATS&conference=ALL&role=OPP&season=2011&seasonType=PRE&d-447263-s=TOTAL_YARDS_GAME_AVG&d-447263-o=1&d-447263-n=1 The Bills defense is ranked 10th overall. Tied for 1st in sacks at 14. 27th against the run at 136.6 YPG. 4th against the pass at 164.3 YPG.
  2. It's so nice seeing a much improved run defense (so far). Horrible penalty by the refs!!
  3. I think the Bills just might have found their #2 WR. So far Easley is looking great.
  4. Evans and Trent Edwards both looked good in preseason last year as well.
  5. I'm working in southern MD about 100 miles near Richmond, the floor, walls & ceiling were shaking hard. Man that was freaky!!!
  6. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2011/8/21/2375667/broncos-vs-bills-demetrius-bell-elvis-dumervil-von-miller#comments "In 31 offensive snaps last night - a much higher total than Chan Gailey planned to get in - Bell routinely struggled, particularly with speed off the edge, which rarely gave him problems in 2010. He gave up a sack to rookie Von Miller (pictured) on a pure speed rush, and Elvis Dumervil had his number all evening. We counted four snaps in which Dumervil beat Bell with ease; two of those plays led to Ryan Fitzpatrick throw-aways, Bell held on one that went uncalled, and Dumervil blew up a handoff to C.J. Spiller on another. His problems didn't stop there, either. At least twice, Bell hit the ground trying to run block after tripping. He gave up a pressure to Robert Ayers that, along with a Marcus Easley drop, led to an interception. Twice, defenders had beaten Bell with inside moves - something he did struggle with last year - and would've registered hits had Fitzpatrick not already thrown the ball. Buffalo is in enough trouble up front personnel-wise to have Bell struggle in this capacity. He's the unchallenged starting left tackle. If he doesn't improve vastly, it may not matter who else the Bills play up front." Last year, Bell got a pass with the injuries to his knee and playing with an injured shoulder. There's no excuses this year. I really hope Nix signs McKinnie or any other tackle that is somewhat useable, because Bell & Pears are both horrible.
  7. Our Offensive Tackles were offensive!! Our secondary sucked big time tonight.
  8. So far, Brad Smith looks better than Fitz & Thigpen Have a good night everyone!
  9. Too bad Thigpen couldn't have hit Esaley in stride. Nice catch by Easley.
  10. ‎"THE ECONOMY IS SO BAD THAT: I received a pre-declined credit card in the mail. CEO's are now playing miniature golf. Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen. Angelina Jolie adopted a child from America. Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore. A picture is now only worth 200 words. They renamed Wall Street "Wal-Mart Street". Finally, I called the Suicide Hotline. I got a call center in Pakistan and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck!!!"
  11. Aiken has had some nice catches so far tonight.
  12. Hall is looking good as well.
  13. I'm old enough to remember that too, but you have to admit that we're not looking good tonight.
  14. Nice seeing Jasper cut through the o-line.
  15. Why wasn't that a penalty?
  16. Holy Crap!!! Easley made a play!!!!!
  17. Elzy looks good tonight. Ralph still thinks Jack Kemp is his QB.
  18. Our backup O-line looks just as pathetic as the starters.
  19. Holy butt whoopings Batman!!!
  20. Fitz & Thigpen can't throw for sh#t tonight!
  21. Nix's first 2 picks in next year's draft better be Offensive Tackles and not other team's leftover garbage.
