  5. I agree. I feel before Whaley, the last good GM the Bills had was John Butler.
  6. By that logic, Bill Belichek should have been given a very short leash in New England as he had a terrible tenure in Cleveland. Ryan took the Jets to the AFC Championship game twice with a crap QB. Plus, his Jets team beat the Patriots in the playoffs. I also feel the Jets GM did a terrible job of replacing players that left, such as Revis and Cromartie. As I said previously, it takes a good combo of a GM and coach to have a successful team.
  7. Seems that you like changing the subject with multiple people. The title of the thread is "don't expect Rex or Whaley" so I'm talking about both. There is a lot that goes into the success or failure of a team. If the GM does not get the right players for the coaches offensive and defensive scheme, then it is not going to work. Same goes with head coaches that constantly change coordinators and schemes as there is always a learning curve during the course of the season. How many years have the Bills changed defenses between Marrone and Gailey? While I wished Schwartz was either retained as DC and Roman was hired as the HC or Schwartz was promoted to HC and Roman was brought in as the OC, it didn't happen. The Bills are not going to get much better if they keep changing coordinators and Head Coaches every couple of years. As far as the other short term HC's that got fired. With hiring coordinators as first time HC's, it's a crap shoot as that coach had no previous NFL head coaching experience, so no one knows how they are going to do.
  8. The defense took major hits with losing Kyle and Aaron Williams, on top of the fact that Mario quit on the team.
  9. After the Sabres failed to resign their top two centers, Drury and Briere, they had no good Centers left on the team. Centers are your QB's on ice. The Sabres at the time when the Pegula's bought them had a bunch of wingers that would be good on other teams third and fourth lines, but we're in the top two lines. That team needed to be scrapped and started over from scratch, which is something that's been happening over the past three seasons. At some point during the 16 year playoff drought, the Bills should have tanked for a few seasons to get a franchise QB and other elite talent. But instead, Ralph was on autopilot and let the wrong people run the organization into the ground. He also had Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker to throw to, which are a better WR combo than anything he had in his tenure in Buffalo.
  10. Thanks for the laugh! Both were positional coaches that were clueless on how to run a team.
  11. The only remote possibility I see Whaley and/or Rex getting fired is that the Bills finish the season between 2-14 and 5-11 with no significant injuries to key positions.
  12. Cleveland is one example, the Raiders, Bucs and Redskins areother examples. Look at how bad those franchises sucked. The Raiders and Bucs have been terrible since they were in the Super Bowl. The Redskins have been a joke of an organization since Snyder bought them. I think they've had two playoff appearances since he bought the team and went through coaches either on a yearly or two year pace. And what makes you think the Bills will fire Whaley & Ryan? Because Vic Carucci and Jim Kelly said so?
  13. And look at how those teams are still doing...terrible! Cleveland has a history with Haslam of constantly firing coaches quickly and how well has that worked for them? Look at the Pegula's track record with the Sabres. They're not the type to make quick, irrational decisions. Also, the Pegula's don't see this as year #16 like the rest of us Bills fans, they see this as year #2. So while others in the media feel that if Rex and Doug don't make the playoffs this year that they're going to be fired, they're just trying to stir the pot in hopes that ownership will listen to them and act upon it. Sorry, but the Pegula's are patient people and even Kim Pegula and Russ Brandon confirmed it on the radio.
  14. For those that think either Rex Ryan and/or Doug Whaley will be fired in the offseason if the Bills fail to make the playoffs, it's not going to happen. Both Kim Pegula and Russ Brandon stated on WGR550 that they believe in continuity and this is only year 2 in the Pegula/Whaley/Ryan era. http://media.wgr550.com/a/116124419/07-28-bills-president-russ-brandon-on-the-john-murphy-show.htm?pageid=1114062
  15. Thanks! Last year, The Jets had a better defense, plus Fitz threw for 31 TD's and went 10-6, just missing the playoffs. I feel in order to make the playoffs, not only does the defense need to improve, but Tyrod needs to be able to pass for 30 TD's or more.
  16. 20 passing TD's is below the league average. I believe the league average is 26, so Tyrod and the receivers will need to improve. Also, the defense took a few steps backwards. With getting rid of the biggest primadonna on the team, Mario Williams, who was saving himself for his next contract, the Bills should improve on D.
  17. Last year, he did not look good as he was diving backwards for balls and tripping over his feet. Now with Watkins being out and Woods as the #1 WR in OTA's, minicamps and most likely part of training camp, maybe we'll see Woods and Taylor develop more chemistry. Hopefully TT takes the next step and is our franchise QB for the next 10 years. I'm tired of always looking for a QB.
  18. I have to agree. While there are some on here to love Woods and talk about how great he is, he has yet to shown it consistently. If Rex Ryan & Co felt Woods was a #2 WR, then they wouldn't have signed Harvin last year. A #2 WR should be able to get between 800-1000 yards receiving and between 8-10 TD's. Woods hasn't been able to do that so far as he's been inconsistent with his route running and pass catching. Look at the Jets with Fitzpatrick last season, their #2 WR, Eric Decker was a great compliment to Brandon Marshall and had over 1,000 yards receiving, and we all know how inconsistent Fitzpatrick is. I would love to see Woods have a career year and be resigned. IMO, the Bills have not had a legitimate #1 & #2 combo at WR since Moulds & Price's last year on the team when they both had over 1,200 yards receiving each. I think if Watkins can stay healthy, he could put up 1,500+ yards a season. Now it's getting a legitimate #2 WR to compliment him, hopefully it's Woods, if not, the Bills will have to draft a WR in the early rounds next season or pay for one in FA.
  19. Woods is a great blocker and does great in the type of offense Roman is running (run first). But Woods needs to be more consistent with his route running and pass catching. I know he had a bad groin injury last season, so we'll see if he can truly be the #2 WR the Bills need him to be.
  20. Agree 100% still wish the Bills would sign Boldin.
  21. #7. Expecting anything out of Goodwin and Listenbee this is too much. Goodwin can't stay healthy and expecting anything from a 6th round pick is very premature. Otherwise I feel all the points are valid.
  22. http://247nflnews.com/10-reasons-tyrod-taylor-will-great-season/ Good article, but a little much on the kool-aid side.
