  1. 5 guys I think will do well in the NFL... Justin King-CB Rashard Mendenhall-RB Limas Sweed-WR Dre Moore-DT James Hardy-WR I think each of these guys is under-rated when it comes to the "experts" and where they will fall in the draft.
  2. I agree that it is: A. Against the rules (NFL) B. Against the law C. Not a smart decision for an athlete hoping to sign a multi-million-dollar contract I'm just stating that NFL teams won't pay much attention to it, unless they see it as a recurring problem. The only time stuff like this matters in sports is when it affects a team's investment in a player.
  3. Talib I'm not worried about. Manningham lied about it at first. Then he sent out a letter apologizing for his "mis-remembering" and said that he would take the test and re-interview with any team that asked. Nobody likes a liar! Weed isn't good, but it rarely will derail a pro football career. There are much worse things out there for these guys to worry about.
  4. I agree. This kid looks like the real deal. Barring injury, I think he'll be a great Defensive End/Outside 'Backer wherever he goes. I love it when these anonymous sources bash guys to reporters. They are just trying to play mind games with the hope that it'll hurt some of these guys' draft stock and that they will fall.
  5. No way do you go DT in the first round. I don't care who is there. We've addressed the DT position with McCargo and Williams a couple years ago and we went and got Marcus Stroud and Spencer Johnson this year. If they were going to address the DT position they wouldn't have cut Tripplet. If for some crazy reason we draft Sedrick Ellis it's because we've found a trading partner later in the first round.
  6. Stats are used to justify people when they suit their cases. If a guy flops in the NFL, they say "See! I told you he'd stink. He ran 4.65 in the 40!" Then if a guy who runs a 4.65 turns out be a success the same friggin' people say, "See! I told you! 40 times don't mean jack once the pads go on!" Bottom line: good football players are just plain good football players. The trick is to poke, prod, question and investigate these guys as much as possible with the hopes of picking one who doesn't turn out to be a lemon. Sometimes all signs point to a player being a smashing success and they fail anyway. Other times the signs aren't so good, but the player ends up being a perrenial all pro. There's only so much you can do. We have to wait and see how Kelly does at his pro day tomorrow. From there we can see if he is really the #1 WR in this draft or if he should be slotted below the likes of Devin Thomas, DeSean Jackson and Limas Sweed.
  7. Why the heck would we need to draft 2 wide receivers? We have a good #1, a good slot receiver, a so-so "other guy" and you can just throw in ST scrubs to fill out the rest. We need to address the WR position early, not often. And I still don't see why everyone on these boards thinks that we are going to grab a tight end in the first 3 rounds. We signed 3 tight ends this offseason (Anderson, Johnson, Massaquoi(re-signed)) not to mention the fact that we still have Robert Royal and Derek Schouman on the roster. We need a wideout, a corner, a pass-rushing defensive end, fullback, and depth on the OL before we need a tight end. Round 1 - DE/CB Round 2 - WR Round 3 - DE/CB (whichever wasn't addressed in Rd 1)
  8. I don't see the Bengals taking a wideout before a defensive tackle. The way it looks now, they are going to have Sedrick Ellis fall to them which is a perfect scenario. IF they trade Ocho-Stinko, then they might try to work their way BACK into round 1 to grab a guy like Kelly.
  9. I agree that the draft isn't about the Pats, it's about the Bills. I think that any player who helps this team improve helps us beat Brady and whoever else we face. We need a WR, CB, DE but we're in a bad position this year. It doesn't look like there is a WR worth the 11th pick. We don't NEED a corner in round 1 and we don't NEED a defensive end in round 1, but we may end up taking one anyway to maximize the picks' value. The more I read/see/hear about Derrick Harvey, the less I like. Why does everyone think he is sack machine? DRC and Malcolm Kelly sound nice but are they really worth the 11th overall selection? I'm torn. I don't know what I want the team to do.
  10. Aquib Talib (or something like that) the corner. Everyone is on the DRC bandwagon and nobody is mentioning that this kid is a darn good prospect as well.
  11. Nice post. Very positive with a lot of good info, ideas and facts. I especially agree with your view of using the June 1st cuts to shore up the team. It seems like a lot of people are forgetting that there is often a lot of quality depth players available. I just don't know about "deep" in the playoffs. We're young and getting better, but I think it'll be another year before we're beating the likes of the Pats, Jags, Steelers, Colts, etc... in the playoffs. I hope I'm wrong.
  12. Mr. Johnson, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
  13. That's not a bad idea. I'd love it if that happened, but it's unlikely. Supposedly, the Iggles are looking to get a 1st and a 5th for Shepard. Apparently, they think he's as good as DeAngelo Hall.
  14. He just got cut! Wow. I think it's a good statement by the team. If you aren't going to behave, you aren't collecting a paycheck. This kid is pretty darn good. Now he's ready to be Raider or Cowboy.
  15. Yes and no. Obviously, Chris Henry and Pacman are repeat offenders. They have proven time and time again that they can't stay out of trouble. The only things Leinart has to be worried about are: 1) That these girls aren't underage. He could get busted for that. 2) That the only headlines he makes for the Cardinals franchise are good, sports-related ones.
  16. Because Devin Thomas isn't worth the 11th overall pick in the daft. He's good, but there's a reason why every "expert" has him slotted as a late round 1 pick. Don't get me wrong, the kid is good, I just think that we have to get MAX value from our first pick. That means we'll either grab a DE (Harvey/Merling) or a CB (DRC/Talib) If the "experts" are right, we may get a crack at Thomas in round 2 a la Poz. It's not likely, but who knows?
  17. I like the analysis here. He's got valid points behind his pick of Harvey instead of Sweed. And he is obviously not in love with Malcolm Kelly. Not many people are picking the Bills as "possible" upsets to top the Patriots in AFC East. If we draft Harvey, we can kiss Ryan Denney good bye after this season.
  18. I swear I'm gonna pistol-whip the next person that says shenanigans!
  19. Devin Thomas I second that! I like D. Thomas, but he's not worth the 11th overall pick. If he's there in round 2 and we haven't already drafted a wideout...go for it! Not at 11 though.
  20. Funny. It's "supposed" to be released today, but it may get pushed back to early next week. Last year it was scheduled to be released on April 7th, but it didn't get released until April 10th. We'll know when we see it!
  21. This is a big deal because this kid has shown that he's not capable of being trusted. He got in trouble in college, transferred and showed some maturity. Now, when all the eyes of the NFL brass on him, he gets arrested for petty marijuana possession. This hurts his stock because he is going to be considered a risk. If he's getting locked up now, what can NFL teams expect from him after he cashes his first NFL paycheck? It's amazing how stupid some of these athletes can be.
  22. I didn't say it was. If you read what I posted I said that Whisenhunt probably doesn't care either. He's just saying the right thing for the team. It's really not a big deal. Next time he just needs to be more careful when it comes to having pictures of what he does at home plastered all over the internet and TV. The NFL is all about image. Theirs is looking worse than the NBA's lately.
