  1. I just saw John Clayton on ESPN say "James Hardy will make the most impact of any of the rookie Wide Receivers or Tight Ends...if he gets 50+ catches and plays well, the Bills will make the playoffs." I like it better when ESPN ignores us.
  2. There you go! The draft is a crapshoot. You do your homework, make an educated guess and cross your fingers. If it doesn't work out (see Williams, Mike & Flowers, Erik) you go ahead and make other plans. If it does work, the first thing you do is log on to www.twobillsdrive.com and tell everyone "HA! I freakin' told you so!"
  3. Don't diss him like that. Takeo was awesome when he was healthy. As soon as he got hurt his production plummeted. Before the injury he was great and earned the right to dance around and "love himself" all he wanted.
  4. Nice post. I couldn't agree with you more. We picked up the guys we need and the rest of the guys are a luxury if they turn out to be decent starters or reserves down the road. For now they are depth and special teamers. I have not problem with that. That's what the later rounds are for: depth, special teams and flyers.
  5. You'd rather waste two picks on the same position with the thinking that they might or might not suck? What if both of them are busts? Then you are royally screwed. I like the Hardy pick. I don't know if he'll turn into a young Plaxico Burress (who sucked) or the one that played for the SB-winning Giants (who was good.) All I know is that I didn't like Kelly because of his injury/attitude problems and I didn't trust the one-year wonderish college career of Devin Thomas. Let's face it: every pick is a risk. You never know what could/might/will happen. The front office did their homework and decided they wanted Hardy. The jury is officially out on him. As for being in Washington's position? No freakin way should a pro football team waste two of the their top picks on two iffy wideouts.
  6. What do you guys think of our draft? Where do you see these kids this year and down the road. Here's what I think, but I'd like to see an overview of what most of you think. Leodis McKelvin (CB) - Starting cornerback (hopefully) opposite Terence McGee. There is a lot of talk on these boards bashing this kids' hands (or lack thereof) but I think he is a great corner who has a knack for making big plays. It's too bad that we can't utilize his return skills as well. James Hardy (WR) - The big body on the other side of the field from Lee Evans. A tall receiver who can shield defenders well and make tough catches in traffic and can always be relied on to nab a jump ball in the endzone. Chris Ellis (DE) - 3rd down pass-rush specialist. Line him up with Spencer Johnson, Stroud and Schobel and let them go after the QB. Ellis is raw now and has a lot of potential but he's going to have to take some big strides if he has any plans of being an every down player. Reggie Corner (CB) - I see this kid as a nickel corner...that's it. He may contribute on special teams (he may have to) but he has "good nickel corner" written all over him. Undersized kid with good leaping ability and great hands. Yesterday I convinced myself that he is our version of Aaron Glenn (late in his career.) Derek Fine (TE) - I don't see where Fine fits into the offense (or IF he fits into the offense.) No one really knows much about this guy other than the fact that he has decent hands and can contribute on special teams. He provides depth but I don't see the need for more depth at Tight End. Alvin Bowen (LB) - A lot of people are talking about this kids' speed and ability to cover well when called upon. Right now I see him as a Special Teamer. He might crack the lineup in a couple of years if he can prove reliable but I doubt it. Xavier Omon (RB) - Another head-scratcher if you ask me. He's big (225 lbs) and has been crazily productive at Northwestern Bumfork State. Perhaps they see him as a short yardage back, but more than likely he will simply be a depth/practice squad type of player that could see the field if someone ahead of him gets injured. Demetrius Bell (OT) - This is purely a "What if" pick. This kid has rare athleticism that MIGHT translate into him becoming a solid tackle. He's a project player who provides depth for the O-Line and is a long-shot to produce in the next few years. Steve Johnson (WR) & Kennard Cox (CB) - Both of these guys will be pressed into action on Special Teams only. They both provide depth at WR and CB, but they have to prove themselves useful enough on Special Teams if they even want to think of making the roster.
  7. I don't see why everyone is hating on this pick. We need more pressure on the QB. This guy can come in for obvious passing situations and provide, dare I say it, a decent pass rush from both sides of the D-Line! He may even develop into a starting Defensive End in a year or two. I like him, I think he brings some needed attitute to our D-Line.
  8. Easy guys....This "they hate us" thing is getting a little out of hand...
  9. I like the way you are looking at this... So far so good IMO
  10. From looking at the scouting reports on Reggie Corner, I can only guess that the team is looking for him to be our "starting" nickel corner. He's not big or fast, but he has good coverage skills and is considered a ballhawk. I envision him to be a slower version of Aaron Glenn (in his later years.) Not a bad pick. Let's not overreact because they didn't pick ALL the guys we wanted.
  11. We'll see. He's big and I've seen highlights where he has screened the defender with his body to catch some quick slants over the middle. I'm just happy to see the pieces of the puzzle being nabbed instead of question marks.
  12. No 3rd round picks today. ESPN2 is covering the draft becasue ESPN has the Boston/Atlanta NBA game tonight. Haven't you been paying attention to the 300+ commercials?
  13. I'm not doubting his strength for a smaller receiver. I'm doubting on him because he is a smaller receiver. Some of these guys are awesome (Steve Smith for example) but I don't see why we would want another undersized receiver whose specialty is speed. We've got two guys who fit that description: Lee Evans and Roscoe Parrish. Jackson is awesome, don't get me wrong, but he's not for us.
  14. You're nuts, dude. How strong can you be at 170 lbs.? He's small and a speed-only kind of threat. Been there. Done that. Big, possession receiver was the way to go.
  15. Negative. We've got a big body to play wideout. We don't need to spend a valuable pick on a TE because Carlson and Keller are gone. Bennett is good, but I don't think we should target him. I say we go after a Defensive End to help with our pass rush.
  16. Does Sweed have some sort of disease that nobody has heard about? I don't get it, how come all these guys are getting picked ahead of him?
  17. Exactly. I wanted Sweed, but there's a reason I'm sitting on my couch with a Bud Light and not in an NFL "war room" discussing this stuff for real. It's a toss up and I'm giving the Bills' front office the benefit of the doubt on this one.
  18. boo! I liked Sweed over Hardy... Hardy is good and I'm glad we addressed the WR this early. So far I'm a happy camper.
  19. Philly picked up Lorenzo Booker from the Fish? Wow. A 4th rounder for another backup RB.
  20. I agree, but the guys we want are different from the guys we need. Take New England's first pick for instance...we need a WR. We have our choice. We should take the guy we want.
