  1. A day or two after the draft, I sent that clip to a buddy who's a Fish fan... He hadn't seen it, and hated the Ginn pick too... I laughed till I was sick when I saw that fan's reaction!!!!
  2. A trade down would be a great option... For Buffalo to get 11-13 picks total after trading down might help them finally become one of the best "depth" teams in the league....
  3. I've been saying that if Buffalo stays at 11, I think they take one of the top players in the defensive front 7, or surprise people with an offensive lineman... and save WR and TE for the second and third.... But, Buffalo has a lot of options... and they could take a WR at 11.... I'd rather see them trade down, which would be lucky.... If WR is the pick at 11 though, the two that I find intriguing are Devin Thomas and Limas Sweed...
  4. Good post.... They do have a lot of options... I don't see Buffalo trading up, although if Ellis was still there at 8, I would find it tempting... The best scenario would be Ellis falling to us at 11, which is very doubtful.... or trading down, which would be lucky, but I don't see it happening either... So, then, if those options fall through and they stay at 11, I'd say get a DL like Harvey... or possibly make a "reach" and get Merling or Balmer... Or get a LB like Rivers... Or the dark horse pick that would leave a lot of Bills fans shell-shocked would be OL like Clady or Albert.... I'm afraid I'll side with Pyrite Gal on a DB at 11... we do need depth there, but the front seven is more important in this scheme.... WR and TE should come in the 2nd/3rd round, but I believe if the right guy is there, a defensive lineman, a linebacker, or a surprise offensive lineman could be very good options at the 11th pick...
  5. If we don't get really lucky and pick up Ellis (who's more of a one-gap), I keep wondering if we don't draft Stroud's backup... say a guy like Kentwan Balmer (two-gap) to compete with Kyle Williams behind Stroud... He might be a "reach" at 11, but if the Bills are lucky enough to trade down, he could be an option... If they stay at 11, getting a guy to back up Crowell (he currently has no back up listed) at SLB and possibly replace him when he becomes a UFA next offseason could really help take pressure off their DL... Rivers might be an excellent option if there... If nothing else, their cover-2 scheme depends more on the front 7, so any options there in the first will help them even more combined with the Stroud, Mitchell, and Johnson signings.
  6. I think that OL is the dark horse pick for Buffalo in the first round.... I will be surprised if it happens, but with the Bills you never know... One consideration with an interior lineman in the draft should be a guy who has at least some experience at center.... Fowler and Preston are both UFAs next offseason... and I have a feeling one or both won't be back... It will probably happen in the later rounds, but center is a need...
  7. He would be an excellent pick... and fits our system very well... the Bills should draft him if he falls to 11.... But I don't see them trading up for him... I'd consider trading up... but I don't think they will.... Explosive player, though... I'd be ecstatic if they got him!
  8. I'm not sure if this is our guy.... He has talent, no doubt... but he's 6'0", missed half his senior year with injury, and in at least four of those youtube clips, he was playing in the slot.... Did he generally play the slot at LSU? If so, we already have two in Reed and Parrish.... A guy who's proven on the outside with some more height should be a better option...
  9. Yeah.... Looks like he didn't have enough highlights for a 3 minute clip.... but if he can eventually block as well as he seems to catch, I'm sure he can fill out a youtube reel.... and help Master Chief save the world!
  10. Nice highlights... The Halo theme is a bit dramatic for a 2nd-3rd round TE, but it got a laugh out of me... Carlson has some really great hands, and he's HUGE!!! I'd really enjoy watching him knock a Pats LB into next week and dominate the red zone.... He looks like a solid weapon...
  11. I agree... If a TE is there that you like, get him... otherwise go after another defensive player at DT or LB, or maybe CB, although Cason may be more than enough.... I'd use the later rounds to fill out offensive depth....
  12. I don't think Ellis will fall to us regardless... But if that miracle occured, you're saying he's not needed??? Let me remind you that we have a task that 28 other teams do not envy... Trying to get to Brady twice a year! It's the only way to beat that team.... The way in which we rotate the DL means you can use DE/DT a lot of ways... and Ellis and Johnson have lined up at DE before.... Not to mention, if Ellis was an option, we could cut Kyle Williams... and McCargo has not proven much to this point... he might yet, but if he has competition and substitution like Ellis, don't you think that might help him? The only way to beat the chowderheads is with a strong defense, and that starts in the trenches... Ellis could be excellent in our system....
  13. I've said in several posts that if Ellis is there, they'd be stupid not to take him.... But I don't think he'll drop to 11 and I don't see the Bills trading up.... Rivers is a great choice as well, if you consider he might replace 09' UFA Angelo Crowell... who might be hard to keep along with Lee Evans among others... But the Bills have a lot of options this year.... They could go many ways.
  14. The beauty to all of this is that the Bills will have MANY options in this particular draft... and its driving most people on this forum mad trying to figure out what will really happen.... But it will be fun when it gets here!!! My choice would be to trade down if at all possible.... Steely Dan is right on that one... 12 or 13 picks would be a lot of bling... I don't expect that to happen, though... But the thread title has a lot of merit... We have traded up in the last three out of four drafts... so it is very possible with 10 picks to use... That would give the Bills a shot to get a DE and WR... Knowing the Bills in recent years, though, shows that they could do just about anything... it should be a party!
  15. ...and I thought it was silly season in politics....
  16. Glen Dorsey... Belichick would certainly fear and respect our DL.... Chris Long would be a close second...
  17. "O Sedrick, Where Art Thou?" or... "Gangs of New York"
  18. Your avatar is kinky winky winky
  19. Couldn't have put it better... I've mentioned Rivers before as a possible insurance policy on Crowell, not to mention Digiorgio and Ellison are RFAs next offseason... Obviously they will be easier to retain, but you never know... Anybody to fill the defensive front 7 in the first round is fine with me... Rivers, Harvey, Merling, maybe Mayo... But the miracle would be to have Ellis drop... Saw the USC pro day highlights today and he looks great!!! Ah... one can dream...
  20. Too funny.... If the Bills decide to add more meat anywhere in the defensive front 7, I'll be quite titillated myself.... Good analysis by McGuire... Marshall Faulk should take notes...
  21. There will never be another like #12...
  22. Amazing.... I've heard a lot of theories about how to win a championship, how to rebuild an offense, yadda yadda yadda... but it's not often you hear an argument from someone stating that an entire position on a team is not needed... or does not need to be utilized very often... Actually, last time I checked, to win a Lombardi trophy a team should be balanced and strong at all positions!! Doesn't that define a champion? So all a team needs is a good defense and an intelligent QB? Really? Well if thats the case, guys like Roethlisberger and McNabb should win championships every year.... they consistently have good to great defenses.... why do they only have one championship between them? Let me ask ya something... If a defense has to respect and cover a guy like Antonio Gates, Jason Witten, or Dallas Clark, don't you think that takes pressure off of their offensive teammates??? Wouldn't it then help those offensive teammates get open more? A TE doesn't necessarily have to have 70 or more catches in a season to be a "needed" commodity... TEs do a lot of things that other positional players don't have to do.... besides catching passes... They block for QBs, they block for RBs, many of them play STs... they are the very meaning of balance and versatility on a football team. If an offense needs 6 yds for a 3rd down conversion or have a 3rd and goal on the 5 yd line, who do you think one of the first options is going to be? How about a goal-line run play? Don't you need an extra blocker or two to push the pile? It might also be nice to have a big, strong TE to throw short passes to in the "harsh weather" of Buffalo, particularly a 3 ft. snow drift.... A player like Antonio Gates might have been very useful in the blizzard that was the Clevland game... and considering the low score, a good TE could have made the difference in us missing the playoffs that day... Derek Anderson went 9 of 24 that day... 9 attempts were thrown to Winslow and he pulled down 2 for 28 yards, both for 1st downs... and for anyone who watched it, a first down was a huge accomplishment in that important game.... Hey, I'm not saying the Bills should draft a TE in the first or give a record signing bonus to a guy like Kellen Winslow, but to downplay the entire position and say Jauron will never utilize it anyway is just plain wrong....
  23. Boy, for calling someone else a retard, you guys certainly seem to know the ins and outs of the scouting and draft process and who will certainly be a successful player or a failure.... way before it happens.... How do you do it...? Got your own DeLorean with a flux capacitor? Perhaps the Bills should just hire you, since it's that simple....
