  1. Isn't Peyton very close with Isray as well? Tough to say what it means. I, for one, don't really care. I just don't understand why Nix is the GM if Whaley is so well thought of. If the only way to get Whaley on board was to bring on Nix, maybe thats it. But who knows. Again, we have the worst ownership in the league. Anything is possible.
  2. I hear both sides of the Doug Whaley argument, but we're talking about the opportunity for him to be GM next season, on a franchise that is well positioned for a new GM to take over and make his mark. This is the real world, if he has the choice between waiting until Nix retires or becoming a GM immediately (and taking the salary that comes with it), why would he hold off? It also leads me to ask----Why the hell did the Bills not just appoint him GM outright? Why give the reigns to Nix? Its not like Nix had prior GM experience either. But whatever. I need to stop trying to understand why the Bills do certain things.
  3. Is that because he isn't under contract with the Jets next year and some other team will pay him more money? Bc Maybin demonstrated that he belongs in the NFL, as much as I hate to say it. Will his success continue? I don't know. By the way, his stats weren't as impressive down the stretch, but I watched him play and he didn't fair too badly.
  4. I imagine this has been said a million times, but RG3 will and should be the pick if the Bills are on clock and he is still on the board. Honestly, I think that if he declares, he will be discussed (at least in the media) as a possible #1 overall pick, even with Luck on the board. The story line will be "Luck or RG3"?! I guarantee it. And its a fair question. RG3's athletic attributes are off the charts. He is a much more athletic version of Cam Newton. Arguably with a better arm. Oh, and he's a character guy. A great pick for whoever can draft him.
  5. I really hope the Bills get a chance to land RGIII.
  6. Thanks for clarifying. I take that back. I wasn't sure if they pay the signing bonus in one lump sum or over the course of his contract.
  7. Just a hunch, but If one of the QBs falls to the Bills, he will be selected.
  8. A few were blown coverage, but overall, Williams did well. The problem is 0 pass rush. You give the offense that much time to throw and this is bound to happen. Especially with Plaxico and Holmes as your WRs. By the way, I've said it since week 1. Talent deficit shows through. Burress makes a one handed grab to save the game, Stevie lets the ball go through his hands.
  9. I'm just happy the Bills overreacted again (thinking back to 2008 and the DJ extension) and immediately overpaid Fitzpatrick before it was clear he was the answer at QB. Its like they never learn.
  10. I would have kept Maybin on the squad instead of paying him to play for the Jets. Maybe he wouldn't have done much, but he'd at least be SOME threat at rushing the passer.
  11. It's just coming to light that the Bills still aren't that good. The injuries to Williams and Bell haven't helped. Neither has Chan's play calling. He's calling the same game every Sunday and teams have figured it out. Oh well.
  12. Looks like the Bills have been figured out.
  13. This is a very good post. I've been talking about the talent deficit all year, not in a negative light, but in a positive light that truly demonstrates how far this team has come and how far it can go when our talent levels match up to our competition's.
  14. Just hope that Bengals loss doesn't come back to bite us.
  15. I like giving Freddy majority of carries, don't see why Spiller is never used. In games like this, where you're really dominating on defense and have a 20 point lead, its time to give your RB some rest.
  16. I'm worried about Brian Orakpo going against Andy Levitre w/ 0 depth at LT.
  17. Is this a bad time to mention Maybins stats?
  18. Not sure what that had to do with what I was saying. They also lead the league in the takeaways. Which doesn't take anything away from Fitz (and that isn't what I'm trying to do), but does point out that their defense has given them tremendous field position throughout the season. Link
  19. Good post Bill, but I disagree a bit on the Gailey thing. I think Gailey's job is to put his QB in a position to succeed, and while I agree that calling those passing plays w/ 4 min left in the 4th quarter was stupid, he did call a play that allowed Stevie to beat his man down the field. Fitz just didn't make the throw. I mean, I don't think its been pounded home enough...that was a REALLY bad throw. Stevie beat him and throw was not only behind him (way behind him), but it was also to his inside. In the NFL, you need to make those throws consistently. It was a touch throw, and while it isn't easy, its fairly routine at this level. I think that is what bummed me out so much. We all want badly for Fitz to succeed bc he's such a great guy. But, games like this make me wonder. I agree with everything else. I would only add that the Bills need to utilize Spiller way more.
  20. Defense is bad, but Fitz looks horrible today. This is what happens when you have 0 WRs that can stretch the field and a QB with a weak arm. NO ONE honors the deep threat anymore. This is the Bills I think. When they can't get turn overs, this is what you will see.
  21. While that is a TD, that's one of those silly plays in the NFL. One of those grey area plays where its like "really? That's a touchdown and yet Stevie Johnson's catch against the Bengals is incomplete?"
  22. Gonna be a big day if the defense can't get pressure on Eli. They are coming close to getting him, but the coverage just isn't there. I really don't like Andra Davis in there, they are going to pick on him all day. Also, if the offense can't make passes down the field, its going to be a long day. This is where the talent deficit sticks out. Stevie needed to run a deeper route on that 3rd and 4 or whatever it was. Bills definitely can win this game judging by whats happened so far, but they are going to have trouble if they can't keep up in a shoot out, bc lets face it, our defense isn't that good.
  23. Corner is getting picked apart in the nickel. I thought McGee was healthy? If not, it was waste to have him on the gameday roster and have Wheatley inactive. Chan's play calling with the lead, yes, has been terrible. He doesn't adjust. Spiller is the fastest guy on the Bills offense now. Yea, Freddy should get the carries. Spiller needs to the ball. Why that call went to Stevie Johnson is insane to me.
