Ok. It was a hard fought game, but the nfl wants another Brady vs manning matchup. What are you going to do? It's tough luck. -

Ok. We gave ourselves a chance. Now just have to get another TD. -

No need to panic. It's only a touchdown. -

This really is just what he looked like in college. It's not like he deceived us or anything. It kills me to watch this guy underperform on two of my teams (FSU fan). If he starts for us next season, it will make 6 years of watching the same thing and hearing the same conversations about his potential, etc. blech. -

This one isn't on Manuel. He's missed passes, but made some plays too. However, he has got to get more accurate down field and learn from some of his mental mistakes. -
Bills called out on All In w/ Chris Hayes

This is probably the most likely outcome. -

This scandal and the current criticism of the NFL (and its players) for not respecting the rights of women seems like it will give the league more of a reason to do away with cheerleaders altogether (or radically modify how the current system works). Ideologically, the latter issue (objectifying women on the field and not respecting them as you would "normal" employees) and the former issue (not viewing women as human beings off the field) line up with and reinforce one another Quick edit: completely agree that there is no new info and this is lazy journalism. Also, the sharks are still circling. -
The whole cheerleading thing always seemed a bit archaic. Probably not a good idea to teach girls to view themselves as pretty objects that ornate the work done by men. This is less of an issue in high school and college but was taken to extremes in the NFL in the 90s (in terms of the outfits, the routines, etc.). That being said, I'm not going to get up in arms about cheerleading in the league (and the US as a whole). People can do what they want. I just don't think it's much of a loss, quite the opposite actually.

Marrone yells to Russ "go ahead and fire me"
FloridaSnow replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's why you only hire college coaches from major conferences. The Big East is essentially a pop warner division and the low level of competition allows you to do things that won't carry over to competitive leagues. Hell, this problem is bad enough with coaches from legit divisions (see Saban and Spurrier). Whoever made the coaching hire should go along with Marrone. I blame that person way more than I do the coach. -
Marrone yells to Russ "go ahead and fire me"
FloridaSnow replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously, he was the hire we should have made. He was fired for going 10-6 and missing the playoffs, with a solid professional history, and he expressed interest in our job. It was right there in front of us. This team bungles everything. Watching him win in Tampa is going to hurt. Blech. -

FSU alum here. What is really disconcerting about Manuel is how little the book on him has changed since he took his first snap at FSU. He has always been a guy with lots of potential who just needs to find a way to put it all together. Maybe it happens this year (and I hope so, the guy is very easy to root for), but I've grown a bit numb to this argument. -
Look, I love the Bills and have rooted for them my whole life. I never intend to change allegiances and the thought makes me a bit sick. That being said, you give me $10 million and it happens.

Browns fans still pissed off at Modell
FloridaSnow replied to Ohiostyle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not saying what this fan did was okay (it clearly wasn't). However, I'm not going to feel sorry for Modell. He made his money and earned his legacy, and he was within his rights to do so. Nevertheless, you reap what you sow. -
Really, it's about time that they went away. I mean no disrespect here. I'm sure they all work very hard and take a lot of pride in what they do. I also enjoy cheerleaders for personal aesthetic reasons. That being said, they really do send all sorts of regressive messages about women (to the men in the stands and the little girls who aspire to be them), and it would probably be for the better if they faded into the past. I know that's not a popular stance, but having recently moved into fatherhood, my perspective has changed a bit on this.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I would actually be done with the NFL. College football, baseball, and hockey give me plenty of games to watch. I'm busy; I live in Florida. There is no shortage of other things to do. The NFL is kidding itself if it believes that it's invulnerable.

Mike Pettine speculation-interviewing w Cleveland
FloridaSnow replied to mannc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mea culpa, Kiko. Right you are. Didn't realize Syracuse went .500 in division this season. I still don't think he would have had the same aura (of the hot shot college coach) this year. Just seems like the Bills bought high on him. -
What Holes Does This Team Have?
FloridaSnow replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just as talented as the Broncos? What? They are far superior, especially on offense. We have better running backs and a better defensive line. That's about it. I agree with the larger point you're making, but I think you should look at the Colts to make it, not Denver. -
Mike Pettine speculation-interviewing w Cleveland
FloridaSnow replied to mannc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's difficult to put into words how upsetting this is. IMHO, Pettine is one of our team's best assets and one of the reasons I was looking forward to next season. I don't have much faith in Marrone, who didn't show much this year. I know that it's early, and he hasn't had enough time for me to pass judgment, but I still can't shake my doubt. Marrone has only won with Syracuse in what was essentially a minor league college football division. Had he coached Syracuse this year, he would have had a losing record, and he got out while the getting was good. It will never happen and can't happen for a number of reasons, but I'd rather we make Pettine head coach than lose him to Cleveland. Again, that's impossible, but it's just how I feel. This really is just our luck. Meanwhile, Tampa hires the guy we should have hired all along. Depressing...
