San Diego Union-Trib Article from TBD Frontpage
Flbillsfan#1 replied to bartshan-83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think we can afford to lose Frez, how about Pyrite Gal, the new Sopranno, & "crayonz" -
I haven't heard this rumor locally. Caddy had a down year last year due to injury, no QB, & an O-line worse than Buffalos was at the begining of the season. The rumor I have heard, is if the Bucs don't make the playoffs, Gruden will be fired. That being the case the Bucs will draft Calvin Johnson if he is there or Joe Thomas if Johnson is gone but Thomas is still on the board, or Amobi Okoye if those two are gone(Gruden loves Okoye). The Bucs will not go QB because Gruden has to win now.

Turner, Briggs, and the NFL Draft...
Flbillsfan#1 replied to jri111's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Skins are not offering the #6 for Briggs, they are offering the #6 for Briggs + #31 BIG DIFFERENCE. -
But I dbout it.

I think the Bears would trade him for what they perceive to be value. They do not consider a swap of picks value. They will get what they want or keep him. Even if he sits out 10 games he would be available (and fresh ) for the streach run and playoffs. Chicago is not looking to rebuild they want to win NOW. If he is not traded by draft day, I will be very suprised if the don't keep him untill the season is over. He will not leave the Bears unless and untill they get what they want, much like San Diago and Turner.

Contrary to your belief, and a very tiny minority, Whitner was one of the best defensive rookies last year. He was the best safety in the draft period. Miami drafted Jason Allen (bad hip and all) a few picks after Buffalo took Whitner. Miami would have taken him if he was there, but if we didn't take him someone else probably would have before Miami had the chance. You are crazy if you think he would have lasted untill the end of the round. You probably agree with Athlon the Colts would have been better off with Bunkley than Addai. What a bunch of Maroons.

The Bears would rather have him on their team than trade him this year. They want to get back to the SUPERBOWL. Even though he said he would sit out 10 games when the time comes who knows? The Bears can also franchise him next year, and they could threaten to do so if he sits out or perhaps they tell him they won't franchise him next year if he reports and plays all 16 games. Much as the Bills did with Clements.
-
It was on the Bills team page in the Athlon predraft mag.
-
I forgot they said Jason Peters was a decent back up but should not be a starter! What the F---!
-
Yes they did. At least Athlon got that right (unlike the Texans).
-
Stingy? Why shouldn't they be? The Bears do not really want to pay the #6 draft dollars to an unproven rookie. Remember the $$$ the Bills gave Fat Mike Williams or all the Lions draft flops? The Bears did not franchise Briggs to trade him. They would like to have him on the team for another year. (hoping to get back to the Superbowl next year) Consequently they will not trade him for any thing they perceive as below value. How about the Chargers and Turner, talk about stingy.

While waiting in the drug store for my script to be filled, I pick up and thumb through the Athlon pre draft mag. They had an article called draft do over. They listed teams in order of last years draft, who they drafted, & who they felt the team should have drafted. They had the Bills take Haloti Ngata over Whitner. On the Bills team page they wrote the Bills had an excellent safety tandem in rookies Whitner & Simpson. For the Bills 28 selection they had the Bills take instead of McCargo, none other than Donte Whitner. The problem with that is no way Whitner would have lasted that long. The Lions or Dolphins would have gladly grabbed Whitner if he had been there at their pick. They also had the Colts take Bunkley (who never played for Philly) over Addai. What a bunch of Maroons.

I blame the agents for this. They have their player sign these back loaded contract they know the team will never be able to afford to pay just so they can say eg;Clements signed for $80 Million. We all know no way that will happen but it looks good at the time the deal is made. If the team and player are happy with each other when the big money kicks in they can renegotiate but it makes it much more difficult than if they had signed a reasonable contract to begin with.

Round 1 Of The TSW Mock Draft
Flbillsfan#1 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A waste of his talent with Vick throwing him the ball. -
10 Peterson Liabilitys: runs too upright, INJURED 2 YEARS IN A ROW = INJURY PRONE I do not understand the love for a player who has missed significant time 2 years in a row no matter how talented. I think the chance of him being hurt 3 years in a row are more likely than not. I do not see him having a long carreer with his running style.

The entire Toronto deal was McGahees (probably Rosenhouses idea) plan out of Buffalo. He knew if he pissed the fans off enough the Bills would have to get him out of Buffalo. The fact is he put down the women & city of Buffalo in the Baltimore paper unless he wants to call & you want to believe the reporter is a liar. He also said he ran around his house screaming,& knocking down furnature he was so happy with the news he was traded. That should be all anyone needs to see to know he wanted out of Buffalo. THE BILLS FANS LOOKED AT WHAT HE SAID AND TOOK IT IN THE MANOR IT WAS SAID. WE KNOW BETTER THAN TO BELIEVE ANY PR FACESAVING BACKTRACKING.

Did you read the article in the link? All Washington is offering Chicago is a trade of position in the draft for Briggs. The #6 pick will cost more $ than Briggs will. On top of that if they give in to Briggs threats, every dissatified Player on the team will try to force a trade. My opinion Briggs is worth more than a swap of picks. They know what they have in Briggs, the #6 = ? Ever hear of Mike Williams -#4 or all those #1 losers Detroit has drafted. If they do trade Briggs it will be to a different team or Danny will have to sweeten the pot.
-
They would like to but from what I hear Chicago is in no mood to deal with Danny boy. They are pissed he & Rosenjerk are using the media to try & froce the trade.

[quote name='BillsVet' date='Mar 27 2007, 09:23 PM' post='95497 DT is still a need, despite the optimism over the Walker deal. He's a pass rusher more than a run defender. I'm sure some will see that as too pessimistic, but if everyone wants to lampoon Brodrick Bunkley, the Eagles did choose the latter over the former. I'd have to trust the Eagles, along with other select teams in the NFL, because they consistently make the playoffs. With Buffalo's new regime, I'll give them the dbout. I think they chose Bunkley because they drafted him #1 last year. Would not look good to get rid of him after 1 year.
