  1. Oh definitely. But the ST sales numbers won't be known when Nix, Gailey, et al are summoned to meet RW. Perhaps Brandon will interject there with predictions. Still, there ain't no one coming to the rescue, because I don't think anyone has the nerve to tell the owner they have no candidates if the HC or GM is/are fired.
  2. Gailey's in survival mode now. He and Nix tied their futures to Fitzpatrick and will be called to RW's house at some point soon after the season ends to explain themselves. What matters is what they both say to RW. Good thing this is a QB heavy draft.
  3. Bona fide HC candidates want a few things before coming to a franchise. They need a solid owner who actually keeps tabs, but not a micro-manager. They want a GM who knows what he's doing or they can trust. They need a good QB or a high pick to get their own, with the latter more likely. And of course a competitive compensation package. Bottom line is they want a reasonable chance to succeed and Buffalo cannot offer that. The Bills can give you an ownership group that's muddled at best, a GM who was retired and isn't the slam dunk personnel guy some said he was, with a QB situation which is a complete dumpster fire. Pay also isn't exactly going rate either. No one signs up for this many impediments to success. No one at least who might be in demand among other more reputable franchises.
  4. Even if Nix retires (he won't be fired) and Whaley takes the GM gig, there's debate about who's running the team on behalf of RW. Is it Littman, Brandon, or Overdorf? Anyone who thinks RW is doing it day to day is kidding themselves. There isn't a weaker team in the entire league at the 4 critical positions: Owner, GM, HC, and QB. You just can't name a worse combination and changing the GM won't significantly improve this team's fortunes without the other 3 being upgraded.
  5. I'm sure George Cortez is willing to return for the HC job. And best of all he's got familiarity with many of the Bills players like his former QB, Fitz!
  6. You have to love people that selectively pin good decisions on some without pinning the bad ones. Like Nix with the 2009 draft, but not responsible for 2010. Or the 2011 defensive performance on Edwards, but Wannstedt was totally immune. Or now that Whaley has assumed a high role in the front office that he isn't part of the problem because he's not the actual GM. One has to wonder, as you've noted, why Whaley would leave a model franchise for a bottom tier one (at the time) 8 years without a playoff appearance and in need of another rebuild. Why did Pittsburgh let him go? Was it because Kevin Colbert is the brains of the operation there or because he wasn't solid, or perhaps he just wanted a challenge and had a ceiling with the Steelers. Either way, the Bills aren't a place you go to build or complete a career. It's become NFL Siberia for many players, coaches, and front office types.
  7. Browns have a younger owner who is already clearing out the the front office. Not saying he'll get them to the Super Bowl, but Buffalo's ownership situation is immediately worse.
  8. Any Buffalo coaching search is like parents doing their kids' school clothes shopping at yard sales. Just a bunch of hand-me downs that other people didn't want.
  9. So why, nearly 3 years ago, did multiple coaches turn down this wonderful opportunity to interview? In theory there are 32 head NFL coaching jobs and people viewed Buffalo's as career kryptonite. A previous poster answered most of the reasons why no one wants to work in Buffalo. I'd offer that it's not a job people have a reasonable chance of success at because ownership is what it is, and the GM does not provide the personnel for a HC to win. That's been on display for 3 years now under this regime.
  10. Modkins makes the Tim Horton's run in the mornings and on those late nights they're working on game-plans that don't feature their best offensive player.
  11. I get the impression Gailey's return to the NFL HC ranks has been an attempt to show he's still innovative. Even with two solid running backs, he insists on throwing the ball. Yet strangely enough, he will go ultra conservative when faced with a situation like kicking a fifty yard FG.
  12. Is he planning on having a hockey game or is Nix trying to mess with the warm weather Jaguars next week?
  13. Balances out. The lights are out on the season. Be at Hammer's Lot on Sunday.
  14. Yes we can say that, can't we? BTW, who were those 35 people a day who called about the HC job? I think we need to follow up with them after this game.
  15. That 06 game in Indy was one for the ages. No tries in the EZ, a few FG's, and a defensive TD. My, how things change.
  16. Is Clock Management 101 required for Bills HC's?
  17. Guess Chan wanted to get in the Christmas spirit and give the Colts the ball back.
  18. Does Fitz really have this outstanding chemistry with his receivers we're told so much about?
  19. Be careful, objectivity can be inferred by some to be negativity. I don't know how with this franchise's track record, but it happens frequently.
  20. Running pass patterns short of the first down line has become a hallmark of the Chan Gailey/Fitzpatrick offense. But I guess if they're scoring TD's and not kicking FG's we wouldn't be talking about that.
  21. No one is intimidated by 5 wide from Buffalo anymore...Colts had 5-6 in the box before the TO called.
  22. Buddy's rebuild is 14-28 in 2+ seasons, and if a fan cannot complain about that, well, what's the use anymore? Someone has already pointed out what it'll take in this thread for real improvement to occur. And for the record, Dick Jauron with Marv Levy and then Brandon as the GM did better from 06-08 than Buddy the top five talent evaluator and offensive genius Chan Gailey will do from 2010-12. But, we shouldn't complain because to do so might seem like we're not "real" fans.
  23. Really? New GM, HC (who is battling a life threatening illness), coaching staff, QB, defensive scheme, offensive scheme, and they're 3 years into a rebuild? I'm sorry that doesn't pass the smell test and while the AFCS isn't exceptionally strong, the Colts have more wins in 10 games than Buffalo did in Year 0 of their rebuild, 2010.
  24. It is 12 seasons, but at this point what's the difference? The point remains that a NFL franchise should never go this long without a playoff appearance, and if they do, it's the result of completely inept ownership, front office, and coaching. Buffalo has had that in spades since 2000. Any Bills fan is entitled to advocating for the franchise. At this point though, most Bills fans are either still watching and numb to the losses or simply checked out.
