Super Bowl attendees are mostly from out of town. Draft attendees are largely local and wouldn’t need hotels. Buffalo would be a great spot.

My thought also.  People from Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh wouldn't even have to stay overnight, they could drive for just a day trip.

Ocho Cinco didn't manage that, quite, but he saved like crazy. Great story about living in the stadium early in his career, too.

The question is how you can save salary and not be near-insane about it. Marshawn was famous here for going into bars and bringing his own booze. And for taking money off a fan which he claims led to his having to leave Buffalo, because the cops hated him so much.

I wonder where he slept, if stadiums and front offices have rooms with beds for their front office people that work late nights.

EDIT: Found my answer, he'd sleep on the couches

Marshawn Lynch was one of the smart ones.  I read a report that he only spent his endorsement money and saved every dime of his salary while he was in the league.  Sportrac says he made $56m.

"I'm just here so I won't get fined."

I heard Gronk did the same.

  4. Former Steelers Great Antonio Brown Is Broke; Now He's Filed For Bankruptcy (steelernation.com)

    Quote

From his CTESPN account, Brown announced that he has officially filed for bankruptcy. With all the bridges that he has burned, as well as his known refusal of paying anyone what they are owed, it makes sense as to why people are not interested in helping Brown to fund whatever he decides to do anymore.

No word on if he did it the Michael Scott route...

You can buy my club seats. $2k for the pair. After all, it’s important to you to watch your team clinch the playoff birth right? Heck, I’ll cut you a deal since you’re such a swell guy. $1700 and the tickets are all yours. No taxes. No fees. I’m doing you a solid and saving you some money from Ticketmaster. It’s a good deal for both of us.

Don't forget the free food and drinks you get in the clubs, if you're wearing a Bills jersey.  Jets gear and they will charge him triple.

It’s not just the trades. Try to get a job at a bank or a lot of other white collar places and drug screening is just a normal part of the onboarding process. My wife’s group actually lost someone not too long ago because they messed up and failed it.  OOPS!

My brother works for a fire department, and since it's still a federal crime, they can not hire anyone that uses or fails a drug test for weed.

I’ve never quite understood the appeal of those low-level end zone seats. Yeah, you might get a great play that happens real close to you, but it’s a fairly bad view if they’re down at the other end, particularly if you are on the scoreboard end.  Clubs are ideal, especially if it’s cold and/or raining. The 300 level, lower half aren’t far behind and great on a nice fall day.
Do fans want the first row so they’ll be seen on TV? For me, it’s harder to see how the play is developing and where everybody’s lined up when you’re at field level. The reason coordinators like to sit in the booth is because they can see the field better.

Until they put those big screens down at the tunnel end, it was not unusual to see numerous people in the scoreboard end, during plays at the opposite end of the field, standing up and turned around watching the scoreboard to see what was going on.

  8. There are only five weekends that Taylor's and Travis schedule interfere.  I did the "deep" dive into the Google to find her tour dates...

    Tour US - Taylor Swift

    Tour International - Taylor Swift

Chiefs Schedule | Kansas City Chiefs - Chiefs.com

Sunday, October 20th - Taylor is in Miami, Travis is in San Fransico

Sunday, October 27th - Taylor is in New Orleans, Travis is in Las Vegas

Sunday, November 3rd - Taylor is in Indianapolis

Monday, November 4th - Travis is in Tampa Bay

Saturday, November 16th - Taylor is in Toronto

Sunday, November 17th - Travis is in Buffalo

Sunday, December 8th - Taylor is in Vancouver, Travis is in Los Angeles (Chargers)

So out of 17 games, not counting pre-season, there's only three that she could not be at.  If the NFL really tried, they could have moved the Chiefs around more, by making those Sunday conflicts, Monday night games instead.

Several people have tried to grow grass inside, it doesn't really work well.

Honestly, I'm skeptical of a grass field in Buffalo at all.  It will be fine until mid-November. What happens when it gets 2 feet of snow on it?  How do you empty out the stadium without driving heavy equipment on the field? How do you drive heavy equipment on the field without destroying it?  The grass has to be heated from underneath so it keeps growing, fine, so the field won't freeze either, meaning it will still be relatively soft.  They will need grow lights, etc similar to what they use in England soccer to keep the grass growing because it's too dark in the winter, plus the shade the stadium and overhang itself will create.  I'm less worried about the grass growing provided that they are committed to making it happen properly, but the removal of the inevitable large snowfalls is a question.  Also resodding.  If they have to resod in say January can they get the soil warm enough for the roots to take?

The Packers have a mix artificial/real grass field.  It's actually interesting reading this article, that they rip out the grass part every year and grow new grass.

Maybe I'm Captain Dumba$$ here but I just saw the Beane interview with Chris Long (really good, thanks, @Alphadawg7, and worth a watch for a lot of reasons) but Beane said in in that the field will have grass and you can't have grass in a dome.

    I didn't know domes couldn't have grass.

Maybe 98% of folks here know that but for the one other dumba$$ here, thee ya go. Players prefer grass so that's a big plus.

The Raiders field is grass, but it's the type that can be rolled out of the stadium to get natural sunlight.

Nah, you can open the windows and cheer. But I wouldn’t in December.. Then have the fully catered limo drive up to the exit gate with a cop escort to get you to the I-90. The ONLY way to go!

    Ahh... the Taylor special.

    If this is true.......

Would've had the maximum six Prime Time games if Beane drafted a WR who could separate.

Also, glad to see the NFL didn't waste the MVP vs. Lamar Jackson in a 1:00 window week 4 which was originally rumored.

They can still be flexed into another night game.
