Bills Think Nelson Can Become A Great Blocker
Steely Dan posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great article. Linkage "What I noticed at the Senior Bowl was he competed in the run game," said Bills tight ends coach Charlie Coiner. "That was a rare feat for tight ends coming out this year. There were maybe five or six that really competed in the run game. He was one of them. He didn't win every battle because of his size and [lack of] strength right now. But he competed and that was enough based on his athletic ability in the pass game." "I'm willing to buy into that," said Nelson. "I'm always trying to work and get better to improve my blocking skills. ... I love working at blocking. It's something I want to improve on." -
Peters was a fat TE that nobody thought would turn into a PB tackle. I think other teams know he's a project but has all the tools and is going for the same position he played in college. In the ask Tim Graham thread I'll see if he knows how many teams were bidding for his services.

Biggest Douchebag in the World?

At least it shows the guy has a sense of humor. Actually, the Oxyclean stuff really works. I use it for tough stains in the laundry. My brother and I were talking about it and I asked him; If the stuff works why not sell it in stores from the beginning. He pointed out that it's so hard to get space in a super market these days that they probably to do it to demonstrate sales first and that makes it easy to convince stores to free up shelf space. I started using it when Wegmans started carrying it to see if it actually worked and it does. Surprised the hell out of me. I'm sure you meant the out of your mind part. -
Link At least two of those hospitalized were in serious condition, said Dr. Paul Pepe, chairman of the emergency department at Parkland Memorial Hospital. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, he said. Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis suffered broken vertebrae in his back, according to his father-in-law, one-time NFL coach Dan Reeves. Reached by phone Saturday night, Reeves said DeCamillis was undergoing an MRI and a CT scan, along with further tests. "It's just lucky and fortunate and a miracle really he's not paralyzed," Reeves said. It sounds like those who were hit were pretty lucky to sustain any life changing injuries. I can't wait to see how the Philly fans treat the Cowboys when they go to Philly.

I can't stand third person talkers. Good Seinfeld episode about that too! -
I'm glad his suffering is over. Like his politics or not, he was always a class act. This is funny as hell from that article; Fitzwater wrote in his memoirs about a time when Kemp lunged at Secretary of State James Baker III in the Oval Office. The housing secretary was "nagging, nagging, nagging" Bush to recognize the breakaway Soviet satellite of Lithuania and Baker, the color rising in his face, screamed an epithet at Kemp, Fitzwater recalled. Kemp bounded across the furniture and grabbed at Baker's throat. They were pulled apart to avoid a fistfight.

Bills STILL Interested In Waters?
Steely Dan replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Waters’ dissatisfaction is surprising given his reputation as a locker-room leader and his dedication to the organization. Waters is heavily involved in charitable activity in the Kansas City community and was a finalist for the NFL’s 2008 Man of the Year Award. According to the source, Waters flew to Kansas City specifically to meet with Haley and Pioli and hear their plan for the direction of the organization. Pioli declined to meet with Waters, saying they had nothing to discuss, the source said. And Haley began his hallway conversation with Waters by proclaiming that 22 players off the street could win two games, the source said. Linky This is also from that article; The Cardinals players told Waters and tight end Tony Gonzalez that Haley, Arizona’s offensive coordinator, was aloof, condescending and ignored by veterans, the source said. Anquan Boldin, Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald Jr. — Arizona’s offensive stars — were all members of the NFC Pro Bowl team. -
Here's footage on the actual collapse from inside the bubble.

Bills STILL Interested In Waters?

Is there anybody who deserves to go to the Pro-Bowl in your opinion? Waters wanting to be traded by the Chiefs has nothing to do with money. Link According to Pat Moran of Scout, the Buffalo Bills are interested in the Kansas City Chiefs Brian Waters, who recently expressed his displeasure with the Chiefs new managment team head coach Todd Haley and GM Scott Pioli. According to the reports posted in this space just two days ago, Waters asked to be released or traded. Waters, according to the Kansas City Star, cited Haley's "arrogance" and Pioli's denial of a meeting request by Waters as the reasons for his sudden change of heart. When Pioli first took over Waters asked for a meeting with him but all he got was a meeting with Haley who told him Pioli wouldn't meet with him. That's why he's pissed. I don't blame him. If the Bills can get him with Roscoe in the deal somewhere so much the better. It's always better to bring a rookie along slowly. So having Levitre or Wood sit for a year wouldn't be a bad thing. I also wonder if Wood can play tackle? -

That's the idiocy of the whole thing. Why are people making it an issue when it shouldn't be? If they were given the rights it would be a simple thing to fix. The people who are making it a tough issue are the people against it. Everybody is allowed to fight for their rights no matter what the state of the union is. If you think it's a distraction then drop your opposition. 'Nuff said. -
Here's some stuff about him: Link “If you would have asked me last year if he would ever be one of our captains,” Lamb said, “I would have said, ‘No way.’ He’s really changed. He’s a leader for us.” Bell graded out at 88 percent last season against No. 11 Georgia Southern and 87 percent against No. 14 Elon, but his best game was against Wofford when he was successful on 89.5 percent of his blocks. “I hope he has a great year,” Lamb said, “and all the Clemson and South Carolina people say, ‘Why didn’t we recruit him? He was right there in Spartanburg.’' Link It’s easy to imagine the sudden shift from campus life to rigorous football boot camp might be taxing on a young man with big dreams, but Bell revels in the control he has over his own future. “The main thing I like about this is it’s all in my hands now as to whether I make it or not,” Bell said Wednesday by phone from El Paso, Texas, where he’s practicing for Saturday’s third annual Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Challenge. “It’s great to put all your attention and focus into football in trying to succeed. Obviously it is up to other people, but I’m the one who is playing and has to do well. I feel as if it’s all up to me and that gives me comfort.” Link DraftSeason: How big of advantage does your size give you when facing opposing defensive lineman? Joel: Size is definitely an important advantage but combining strength, size and speed is the key to being able to dominate and overpower players. I would say that its actually better to be undersized these days as long as you are strong and fast. ESPN summary

IMO, if they try to put Joel Bell on the PS he won't make it out of waivers. "Lindy's Pro Football Draft" magazine has him listed as their; SMALL SCHOOL STUD; Remember Bell's name for two or three years down the road. He has a ton of potential, but it will take some time to unearth it because he got a late start after living overseas. I don't know if it will take him three years to get to be starter material. He got a 29/40 on his first Wonderlic and a 23/37 on his next. He sounds intelligent enough and could develop faster. There's alway some surprise UFA's in every draft. It would be very cool if he was one of them.

If the new guys play well this year then next year should be ripper. As Levy said, the best rookies are last years draft class. (Or sumpin like adat?) -
Is it really that big of an honor? According to this, I guess it is.

They just got rid of one crybaby headache. I doubt they'll want to pick up another one. I'm sure his asking price will start with what Haynesworth got from Snyder.
