Ummm, where did I say that? I'm just pointing out that a military base crawling with guns and gun experts couldn't stop the killing of seven people. It appears owning a gun doesn't make you safer. In this case that is an undeniable fact. The argument has been made that owning a gun makes a person safer.
-
Well that proves that having a gun makes you safer!!!

If JW can't understand that imperative why should I? Ya know, for a writer, your reading comprehension sucks. STOP POSTING HERE!! YOU'RE DISQUALIFIED!!!

IIRC, DeBartolo's gambling was owning River Boats that have gambling. I thought those were legal.
-
I'm surprised casino ownership isn't against NBA rules. DeBartolo had to divest himself of all of his gambling ties and was suspended by the league from running his team, IIRC.
-
I got that too.

Buffalo is not full of a bunch of heads!!

Actually, it's the curse of Superman. Ever since the Bills cut Dean Cain they haven't won a Super Bowl. If Flutie had driven the team down field with one shoe on it would be the stuff of legend. However, the Flutians believe it's something to criticize Johnson about. Johnson did have the Bills winning when he stepped off the field. What he said. I'll add this. The team had traded a first round pick for RJ and he was a lot younger than Flutie. The team should go with the QB who needs experience and showed over all that between him and Flutie it was a coin toss. Johnson has a SB ring. What does Flutie have? Yes, take a picture of Flutie in his Bills uniform and kiss his crotchal area. Then hug the picture tightly while thinking about being married to Doug, and how many SB's he'd have won if only those meanie weanie NFL HC's had seen the true Flutie talent. Oh wait, I'm sure that's been done by the majority of his fans already. I guess that won't work. I wouldn't put him ahead of Frank Reich. Reich led the greatest comeback in NFL history. Don't the Flutians tout Flutie's magical ability to come back in games? Doesn't that mean he hadn't QB'd the team to a decisive win?

Williams was recently named one of 10 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, which is presented to the nation's top receiver at the end of the season. He is expected to declare for this year's NFL Draft. This is really sad. For him to do this now he must be very troubled. I wonder what happened to make him leave the program now? As you stated he's lost millions of dollars due to his leaving. I hope he can work out his problems and come back strong. If it's a family emergency it might not blot his draft status that much. What the hec is the problem with players named Mike Williams?

Wow, great story. Thanks for posting it. After his father retires we'll see if all the hype is true. His father is a true master of the game.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/foot...e.ap/index.html The team released a statement in response to allegations made to ESPN by Cable's first wife, Sandy Cable, and former girlfriend, Marie Lutz, that the coach physically abused them at various times during their relationships. Cable acknowledged striking Sandy Cable with an open hand in a statement Sunday. Cable said the altercation happened more than 20 years ago and was the only time he's ever touched a woman inappropriately. He stood by that statement Monday, declining to answer any questions on the topic. Thank God for the Faders. Recently they've taken my mind off the Bills troubles by being the most dysfunctional team in the NFL. Another piece from the article; If one play could sum up the first half of the season for the Raiders it might have come on the final drive. On second-and-28 with Oakland trailing 24-16, JaMarcus Russell went back to pass and had no open receivers. That was because Louis Murphy and Johnnie Lee Higgins got tangled up with each other and both hit the ground. ______________________________ http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/foot...d.ap/index.html BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- The Cleveland Browns are currently without a general manager after George Kokinis left the club under unexplained circumstances. After reports surfaced that Kokinis was fired, the team issued an awkwardly worded statement Monday night saying the GM "is no longer actively involved with the organization." The Browns also denied reports that Kokinis was escorted from their team headquarters. _____________________________

NBA fixed beyond what I ever imagined
Steely Dan replied to bills_fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Very little of this surprises me and this is just one reason I'm not an NBA fan. The stuff about stars getting the benefit of the doubt to an outright look the other way isn't surprising to anyone who watches the NBA. The stuff about the league wanting close games and longer series is true because it helps the league's popularity and TV ratings. Does it send that message down in "subtle" messages? I don't know. It wouldn't surprise me at all. Since I'm not a big NBA fan can anyone tell me how many championship series in the last 10 years were decided by under 7 games? I wouldn't go that far but a 10 works for me. Best analysis in this thread yet. While he did manipulate the spread and, I think, the outcome of some games he was betting on games he didn't officiate and if there is a proven betting pattern between his bets and other refs then that should be 90% of all anyone needs to know. -
So didya ever serve time in prison doc.

http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2009/11/01/p...njury-update-2/ Buffalo lost four players to injury in the game and none of them returned to action before the game was over. Head coach Dick Jauron after the game confirmed that Aaron Schobel and Jairus Byrd suffered groin injuries. Byrd had been dealing with a nagging groin problem for a little while prior to today’s game according to Jauron. Right tackle Jamon Meredith suffered a sprained MCL. No word on his prognosis. Keith Ellison suffered a quad strain and could not return to the game. Good timing on the bye week.

Has anybody actually seen/experienced something paranormal?
Steely Dan replied to RayFinkle's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I really wanted to get closer to the thing that looked like a ghost and I wish I could've followed that UFO for awhile. They don't scare me they fascinate me. The only place I don't want to see a ghost is in my house. I'd feel like I was being watched 24 hours a day. http://www.institutionalgreen.org/jackson/js.html *edit* On 10-7-09 I received an email from the great-great-great grandson of James Caleb Jackson (how cool is that?!), who pointed out that the building was never a "sanitarium" as I call it above, but a "sanatorium" as the advertisement shows. I was not aware of the difference, now I know, and just wanted to point that out at his request. Main Entry: san·a·to·ri·um Pronunciation: \ˌsa-nə-ˈtȯr-ē-əm\ Function: noun Inflected Form(s): plural san·a·to·riums or san·a·to·ria \-ē-ə\ Etymology: New Latin, from Late Latin, neuter of sanatorius curative, from sanare Date: 1839 1 : an establishment that provides therapy combined with a regimen (as of diet and exercise) for treatment or rehabilitation 2 a : an institution for rest and recuperation (as of convalescents) b : an establishment for the treatment of the chronically ill -
Almost anything TO would say about this offense I'd agree with if he came out and said it publicly.
