It's ok, the teams he's played against have heard about him. I'm pretty sure a lot of other guys in the NFL know who he is too and I'm positive the Jags do.

UPDATE: Schefter also reports that the Bills will consider Florida Tuskers coach Jim Haslett, New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride and Montreal Alouettes coach Marc Trestman. :wallbash:

Will everyone be on board with the next hire?
Steely Dan replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What he said. I supported Jauron until last year. Every coaching change is a new ray of hope. -
Look Oregonbillsfan, errrr Joey. Nice campaigning but it won't work. Feel free to stick around Mr. Harrington.

Some more; Dick Vermeil http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/art...86675/index.htm In 1969, when Allen was head coach of the Los Angeles Rams, he made a breakthrough by hiring Dick Vermeil as the league's first assistant coach in charge of special teams. Ron Zook on the importance of ST. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor...&id=1643921 Ron Zook, current head coach at Florida, loved his days as an NFL special teams coach because he knew his coaching impacted more players than offensive and defensive coordinators. In practices, he was the boss of 53 players during the practice time invested to special teams. Zook felt it's the best training ground for future head coaches because the special teams coach gets to know players on each side of the ball. And, the job is all football. Special teams coaches must be quick. They must present their strategies quickly to keep players' attentions, and they must pump energy in the meeting rooms and on the field. Romeo Crennel http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008...ms-for-an-edge/ Cleveland coach Romeo Crennel began his NFL career as a special teams coach. Paul Ferraro http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors/post/Vi...?urn=nfl,136166 Paul Ferraro, who served as the Vikings special teams coordinator since Brad Childress took over as head coach in 2006, has resigned to become the St. Louis Rams linebackers coach, according to people with knowledge of the situation. -
If Bobby April is so great

I haven't heard anyone saying that they wouldn't want a HC that would fire April. My opinion is that a new HC would be foolish to fire him. My guess is that if he wants to stay he'll stay. Finally, a thinking man. Marv Levy http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/member.aspx?player_id=128 Levy began his pro coaching career in 1969 as kicking teams coach for the Philadelphia Eagles before joining George Allen’s staff as a special teams coach for the Los Angeles Rams in 1970. Bill Cowher http://www.pabook.libraries.psu.edu/palitm...wher__Bill.html He began his coaching career as a special teams coordinator and secondary coach for the Cleveland Browns. Cowher then went on the coach for the Kansas City Chiefs as the defensive coordinator until he landed the job as head coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers for fourteen years. John Harbaugh http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8...mp;confirm=true Harbaugh brings 24 years of coaching experience with him, even though he has never been in charge of an offense or a defense. That only intensified the excitement he derived from becoming the third head coach in the 12-year history of the franchise. ______________ He was an assistant at the college level with Pittsburgh, Morehead State, Cincinnati before joining the Philadelphia Eagles as special teams coach in 1998. Harbaugh was promoted to secondary coach last season, and this month emerged among six candidates to replace Brian Billick as the leader of the Ravens. Bill Belichick http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patr...lenging?mode=PF No NFL head coach looks forward to a special teams turnover, and Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who gained legitimate entree into the league as an assistant special teams coach, is no exception. But some turnovers are unavoidable. Frank Gansz http://www.thedenverchannel.com/nfl/19306976/detail.html Gansz was at the helm of the Chiefs from 1987-88. He also had a pair of stints as an assistant with the team, first as the tight ends and special teams coach from 1981-82. He rejoined the Chiefs as the special teams coach in 1986 and spent 24 seasons as an NFL coach and 38 seasons overall as a coach on the college and NFL levels. You know this how? -
Shanahan could be Bills' top choice
Steely Dan replied to Tortured Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cowher would be choice #1 for me. Shanahan #2. That's the latest rumor on that page. If you scroll down it talks about Shanahan. Both are just rumors. The next piece will be probably be about Cowher and all of them are just rumors. -
Ummmm, ok guy. http://images.fanpop.com/images/image_uplo...35_1024_768.jpg Could you get anymore obviouser? Fixed!

Charlie Weis or Rich Rodriguez for head coach?
Steely Dan replied to dtgolder's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will be very surprised if Weis loses his job at Notre Dame. IIRC, they just gave him a hideously huge contract. Anyway, no thanks. If he can't recruit and win in Notre Dame, he's lame. -
If Bobby April is so great
Steely Dan replied to Geno Smith's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is one of the most absurd threads I've seen. A coach doesn't need to be a HC candidate in order to be a great position coach. IIRC, he told his daughter he'd be in Buffalo until she graduated and I think he wouldn't have accept any offers anyway. I can't find a link but I'm pretty sure I read it in a D&C piece a couple of years ago. We also don't know if he's been made any offers and refused them. -
One boy said in his victim impact statement that the incidents caused him to perform badly at exam time. He said he felt dirty, embarrassed and ashamed. WUSS!!

Top Coaching Candidates...
Steely Dan replied to Wilson from Gamehendge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
PAUL PASQUALONI!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they hire him the next three years will be worse than the Jauron era!! -
I'm sure he'll feel kinship with crashing and burning.

Why the fixation with hiring a big-name coach?
Steely Dan replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good point but IMO Cowher or Shanahan are 90% locks to turn the team around and possibly get them to the SB. -
I'm wearing my Bills shirt tomorrow!!!!!

Have you ever shoved one up a taunters ass? -
The LT thing is sort of a good point, but losing JP is a better thing than not getting Eric Wood and Shawn Nelson. He traded for Stroud, signed Owens, and managed to get a draft pick for Ko Simpson when many people thought he'd be cut anyway. He had a good draft this year and the talent is there IMO, except at a couple of places. Every team has a couple of weak spots though. As for April you're foolish to think that a guy who's had the #1 ST unit in three of the past five years should be fired. What he said.

I wear Bills stuff all the time whether they're winning or losing. A true fan!! -
It seems to me that by elevating Fewell to HC it should satisfy the minority interview and allow them to bring in one of the big name white HC's during the season. Nothing against Fewell but the Bills have to go big or go home IMO. Shanahan, Schottenheimer and Cowher might be able to come in by the end of the year. The only high profile minority HC candidate I see out there is Tony Dungy and he's not coming back any time soon, IMO. BTW, I hope the next HC possess a SB ring.

Good news from Ed Kilgore
Steely Dan replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The best part of that to me is that it probably means that Brandon will stick around. I'm thinking that too. Since Schottenheimer, Shanahan, and Cowher may be available to come in very quickly If they want one of those guys it may happen. By elevating Fewell to HC they may have satisfied the clause about interviewing a black candidate. JMO
