  1. Any other coaches led their teams to 4 straight Superbowls ? Yes one or two SB wins would have been nice but take a reality check on what was achieved. 4 Lamar Hunt Trophies are a great achievement. Shame the Pats weren't involved in the play offs in those days.
  2. Proud to say that I was at the Tampa Superbowl. (And the 3 that followed). My recollection was that we could not stop the run and the Giants killed us on time of possession. The 2-5 defence front also provided us with some problems. Agree that Marv was out coached by Parcells that evening. But as we know the final story could have been so different. Yes we lost all 4 bowls, the last 3 to physically superior teams but all in all over his tenure Marv overachieved. Of course it helps having a decent QB at the helm.
  3. I am optimistic with the Marrone signing. But who can honestly make an argument that Marv Levy underachieved with the Bills. Granted he had a lot of decent player talent to work with but Marv was pivotal to the success of the Bills of the early 90's. The Bills were hopeless before Marv arrived and much worse than the 6-10 team inherited by Marrone.
  4. Why boycott the team ? Why not everybody do everything they can, within their powers to improve the organisation. Seems logical to me.
  5. Brandon says "Analytics Department yet to exist" Message to Brandon ...... Winning Football Team also yet to exist ! Get your backside in gear and sort it out NOW.
  6. I'm with you BillsVet. Russ Brandon. Identified with poor results, the Toronto series, drafting Aaron Maybin and robust Analytics. Have I overlooked anything ?
  7. If I was President and publicly said that a certain issue was important and would be addressed I would get the ball rolling immediately. I don't want excuses I want results. Nice words and effort is not enough. Anyway Brandon knew that Whaley was the guy so he could have been brought into the process months ago and worked with Overdorf. I just hope the Team is ready before November. I thought this organisation was done with excuses. The word is Accountability.
  8. Make sure the Ralph is 99.99% filled with Bills fans. Keep the Pats out. The Pats fans won't enjoy what's about to happen in any event.
  9. If Russ Brandon can't deliver an Analytics Dept (a few guys with Computers crunching numbers) what chance has he got delivering a competitive NFL franchise where everyone is accountable. Russ Brandon said we needed and he would establish an Analytics Dept. He has failed to do so. I thought everyone was Accountable? bull **** ! If failure starts at the top then expect no better from his employees. Perhaps the Department is not so important after all. Fortunately I have more faith in Marrone in backing up words with action.
  10. The Steeler Way ? No coincidence they have had a decent QB in place for the last 10 years. I wonder how the Bills would have fared with Big Ben in the last 10 years. And how would the Steelers have fared with Losman, Fitzpatrick & Edwards. With a decent QB who can win games and especially win close games at the end life is a lot easier. Massive impact in the Wins column and makes everyone look good. Not sure how much impact Whaley had on the successful Pittsburgh teams and how much credit he deserves. If EJ turns out above average then Whaley will probably enjoy a long and happy stay as GM.
  11. Only 2 people in the organisation can turn the ship around. That's EJ and Doug Marrone. Russ - time for your marketing trip to Toronto ! Why don't you give away some more home field advantage. My tip to you is keep as much homefield as you can. Oh sorry I thought it was all about results when clearly for you it's all about $$$'s ! Doug W. - time to get the DVDs out to watch some college football. Here's a tip for 2014. I hear Texas A&M have got a useful QB so that may save you a plane ticket!
  12. Not blown away by the press conference. Would be interested to know what Doug Whaley's best and worst decisions have been in the 3 years in the Bills organisation to earn the job. Working hard and long is not enough. We are told its about results so what brilliant free agent or draft signings are you responsible for Doug in your 1000 + days with the Bills. Strikes me as a guy who will suck up to Russ Brandon. Loved the comment by Russ about him and Doug on an NFL course getting their work assignments done quickly so they could go out in the evening. That's a bad habit Russ !!
  13. Don't care too much about David Nelsons 40 yard and jump measurables. More important are number of catches, yards, TDs and type of catches. I know it's the Big Sky League but 140 yards and 10 catches against PAC12 Washington (matched up against a R1 drafted CB) suggests to me he can catch. More important he can catch the ball in tight coverage (as his highlight reel demonstrates). I see a bright future for Mr Kaufman.
  14. Brad Smith. Wildcat QB. Lets just revisit his passing stats in the 2 years Brad has been with the Bills. 2 attempts which resulted in 2 interceptions. So no completed passes as a Bill. In his 7 years in the league 9 attempts with 4 completions. Clearly there is no passing threat when he steps in as Wildcat QB but Brad was excellent in short yardage runs. I just dont understand why opponents dont totally commit to defend the run when Brad is under centre. Hackett needs to find another option for gadget plays. At this point I'm hoping Kaufman shows enough in camp to make the 53. Howver I doubt whether Kaufman has Special Team skills and that may count against him in the final cut down. Special Teams is where Brad excels but he is an expensive luxury.
  15. Great highlight reel. So many great catches in traffic. Talk about a WR who's open when he's not open. Kaufman seemed to be covered every time, sometimes by 2 guys and he comes down with the ball on a regular basis. There were some phenomenal receptions on the tape. Based on that tape Kaufman may have a better chance than Rogers to stick on the 53. Certainly an intriguing weapon for Hackett to use in situations. Must admit would prefer a WR who can get open than one than cant but clearly he has a special talent. I suspect he could be used out of the TE slot in certain situations. Don't you hate that Red turf !
  16. With the Bills now well set with a WR group to take into camp we do NOT need to consider reaching for this type of talent. As we stood before the Draft it may have been a different story. But as a Boise State fan I have seen what Titus can do on the field. In his senior year over 1200 receiving yards, 9 TDs and an amazing 17 yards per catch. Over 1000 yards in his junior year with 10 TDs. I find the recent events very sad. Titus has lost his way in life. Clearly Titus must take responsibility but perhaps the Detroit Lions failed to some degree in providing the man management to get the best out of this incredible talent as a football player and a person.
  17. Looking good in practice seems much preferable to looking bad in practice. Next step is for the 1st and 2nd string players to look good and execute in the pre season games rather than produce zilch and pretend it will all come good in week 1. But for now all we can do is practice well.
  18. Was always mega impressed with Jerry Hughes and the swarming defence at TCU. Hope he comes good for the Bills albeit we seem set at OLB with Mario and Lawson as starters with Anderson in relief. Agree with earlier post that Inside LB is where we need the extra help. Buddy needs to get shopping again. Wonder who made the first call on the Hughes/Sheppard trade ? And whether we offered him pre draft in an attempt to pick up a draft pick instead of a player swap? Wonder how many other players Buddy tried to offload to other teams?
  19. Draft Nassib ONLY IF he can also tackle the opposition Running Back who has just knifed through our front 7 for the umpteenth time. We need a stout Defence comprising quality players as well as 4 QBs. That's why Duke was drafted.
  20. Apologies to Coach Tuesday. Got it now. Thanks Kelly. Some initial translation issues on this side of the pond.
  21. Not convinced with "the highest floor" comment but Im pleased with the pick. Some one like Tavon Austin has the skills to be potentially an absolute superstar. What you get with Woods is a fantastic pair of hands, a maturity and dependability. A day 1 starter without the problems of many rookie WRs. I will be disappointed if Woods does not catch at least 60 balls this season assuming some reasonable QB play. Hope Stevie appreciates he will be sharing the load this year. Robert will be Mr Dependable.
  22. My mind goes back to the Bills 49ers and Bills Pats games from last year. Who stops the run? Still think we need more than the addition of Lawson & Alonso. Perhaps it's the same players with a different scheme but I still want to see Dansby or someone similar as a rock in the middle of our Defence.
  23. Can you imagine the Bills kicking a last second 55+ yard field goal to win an important game against a close rival. Now we have the player to do it. Great pick.
  24. Here is the link. Go to 1.58. This is the glowing endorsement of EJ Manuel from Robert Woods at the Combine. It is a very positive sign. Not sure what Matt Barkley thought of the comment! http://www.vikings.com/media-vault/videos/NFL-Network-Talks-With-USC-WR-Robert-Woods/39525d26-b7bc-4021-ac11-6fe86e926481
  25. Just watched the Woods interview after his Combine workout. He looks smooth and polished. When asked which QB threw him the best balls he said .... EJ Manuel. Top answer. Wonder if Buddy and coaching staff took notice.
