  1. Parker can hope. But in reality there are only 2 hopes. One of them is Bob Hope and the other is No Hope. Just sign the contract.
  2. A bizarre signing. Perhaps Doug is content with the O Line and hates our WR group.
  3. Kolb looks OK here. 83 yard TD. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F1YZjiGkkag&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DF1YZjiGkkag
  4. That photo doesn't look good for #23. Is that our new starting Free Safety, Aaron Williams? Quick get on the phone to Eugene Parker. How much did you say Jairus wanted ?? :-)
  5. Surely we can do better than Tony Hills at OT. Looks like we will be looking at the next round of Waiver Wire cuts.
  6. If he can improve all of his stats from 2012 and the Defence can stiffen as a unit then he might deserve $8.3m in 2014. Hopefully his play will do the talking in2013.
  7. So is that Branch as NT in a 3 - 4 formation flanked by Dareus & Carrington ?? Mario, Alonzo, Bradham & Lawson as LBs ?? Not sure where Kyle fits in unless they change to a 4-3.
  8. Much appreciated Astro. It's a great read. Are they overworking Robert Woods in with Team 1 and Team 2. No Fred J yet? Pleased to see that Kaufman had a good first day. Hope he makes the final roster.
  9. I like the way the Bills Front Office are spinning this. Text Book negotiating. Next time Eugene will know to pick a fight with another Front Office instead of the this one.
  10. So if Jairus misses all of camp and signs the day before regular season begins to collect his $432k game day check without doing any training, game study or practice who will be the least popular person in the Ralph in week 1. 1) Brady, 2) Bellicheat or 3) Byrd. I'm guessing Byrd may win that contest. Maybe Parker but I doubt he would show his face in the stadium. On the other hand Byrd can stand on the sidelines and get the abuse from the 73,000 fans.
  11. Parker has obviously not seen the game tape. How slow is Byrd ? Clearly no disgrace getting beat for speed by Johnson but at least get in position to make a tackle. Make the runner hesitate for a split second creates an opportunity for a team mate to bring him down.
  12. The 6 P Rule. Perfect Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Time to sign that $6.91m contract and start that preparation. No one is going to pay top dollar in 2014 for someone who can't be bothered with preparation. http://www.businessinsider.com/chris-johnson-bills-td-video-2012-10 Looking at this clip from the Titans game it looks like the Best Safety in the NFL has a few things to learn. However it appears he has mastered the art of running in slow motion ! :-))
  13. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000218672/article/earl-thomas-as-good-as-any-safety-carroll-has-seen Earl Thomas. The best coverage safety in football ? Surely some mistake !! :-)). Lets ask Eugene for his opinion.
  14. We look well set at RB. But we could be in the market for any quality CBs or MLBs that hit the waiver wire.
  15. Ordered mine to watch in the UK. Bills games only. GBP £89 as the International version. That's about USD150-. Its a lot cheaper than crossing the Atlantic. May be tempted by a trip to Florida later in the season for some live action.
  16. Why the venom? Because of the approach adopted in negotiations. Because of the "banging head against a cement wall" story which might sum up Parker so well. Because with a different agent we might well have signed up Byrd on a multi year contract. We might assume this is a Parker devised strategy to hold out for top Safety money. All I can say is thank God we had the NFLs top Safety on our team last year as otherwise the Pats & the 49ers might have run up 80points! We will see if Byrd retires a wealthy man. He has to sign a multi million contract first and then invest it and live wisely. I don't suppose Byrd will be getting paid to do any commercial endorsements in the Western NY area in 2013/14.
  17. http://www.buffalonews.com/20130602/high_stakes_hardball.html Time for Byrd to start banging his head on the cement wall ?? Well you can't win them all Eugene.
  18. Well done Doug Whaley. I admire you for standing up to Eugene Parker and sending a message to all agents. I hope this tough mentality also switches to the football field. I suggest that Jairus has been poorly represented in this matter. My advise to Jairus is to sign the tag, accept the $6.91m and get to Training Camp. Be a good citizen, play hard and get the love of the Bills fans. Just prove how good you are in 2013. By holding out you will make life very difficult for yourself. Go Bills. Agree totally. But Byrd should have his best years in front of him, unless his head gets messed up with these negotiations and by his agent.
  19. Its only a distraction for Doug Whaley. The Coaching Staff and team simply move on without him if he doesn't sign. It's no big deal. Clearly after the deadline today there are no contract alternatives for Byrd/Parker so he might as well sign the Tag and prepare to get back to work. Want to hold out? Have a nice vacation.
  20. Doug Whaley ..... "Thanks for stopping by Eugene. The offer is $6.91m and we are retaining the franchise tag option as is our legal right. If you want to hold out your man in 2013 thats fine with us as we won't have to pay him. The NFL goes on with or without your client. On your way out why don't you make an appointment with my secretary to see me this time next year for another chat. Cheerio."
  21. 4 yrs / $30m = $7.5m pa. I could live with that, if true. My over riding concerns have been tying up too much money on a personnel group that has proven they can't get the job done (Mario, Kyle, Jairus, Dareus, Anderson, McKelvin) = $39m on 6 players on a Defense where we still have glaring holes. Just hope that the Pettine scheme + Alonzo + Branch + Lawson can be the missing links this year. In Week 1 Brady will provide a stiff test to McKelvin, the nickel back and the run straight up the gut where safety support will be required.
  22. Agree with almost all of this mrags. But consider the Bills Front Office is in a position of strength as they have the option to own Byrd for the next 2 years. If the Bills choose he can't play for anyone else in that time. No thanks to an offer of a 3rd rounder. I would prefer to keep him on the bench, watching Aaron Williams.
  23. How unpopular will Byrd be if he signs just before week one to collect his $6.91m contract and then fails to perform due to lack of practice, pre season games and knowledge of the new Playbook ? And how more unpopular will Byrd be if he holds out until week 10 ? He might as well sign the $6.91m now and start preparing himself for Training Camp. He stands to gain nothing more by holding out. Only increase the animosity and fury of the fans some of whom would be pleased to earn 1% of the contract Byrd is refusing to sign. On the other hand become a fans favourite and sign the multi year contract offered by the Bills. Not sure whether any of you guys follow Tennis. Andy Murray has just won Wimbledon and his winners cheque was approx $2.5m. He has donated it ALL to charity which from a PR perspective is a very shrewd move.
  24. $9m over 5 years !! You are joking me. $8m over 4 years is closer to the ballpark but still seems too rich. How about a figure starting with $7 ? So looks like its $6.91m for one year with Bills retaining option to tag again in 2014.
  25. Alas according to present NFL rules you can only Franchise Tag a player twice. So we may have to let him go in 2015 ! And he will have to play well in those years to justify a big contract in 2015. Looks like the Bills are holding all the aces in this game. Still $6.9m ain't too bad as a consolation prize. (less taxes and your agents fee of course).
