I don't think the Pats dominance over one division (AFC East) is really what people think about with Brady as possible GOAT. AFC dominance, Super Bowl wins, and frequently massive stat lines are more the point. As I said - Kelly was the 3rd best player on his own team. You can't say that about Montana, Marino, Brady, or Elway.
-
I love Jimbo but his team was MUCH better than what the other 3 you mention had to work with. Kelly didn't knock the Montana Chiefs out of the playoffs - Bruce Smith did. Kelly was no better than the third best player on his own team (WAY behind Smith and a little bit behind Thomas).

I'd love to see Brady's smug face playing in a leather helmet... Automatic Otto, as Graham was known, only played 10 seasons of professional football. In those 10 years, he amassed seven All-Pro selections, three MVP awards, four AAFC championships and three NFL championships. His Browns went to the Championship game every year of his career. He lead the NFL in touchdowns three times, completion percentage four times, passer rating four times and passing yards five times. His 174 touchdowns were second all time, and his 23,584 passing yards were an NFL record at the time he retired. His 86.6 passer rating was nearly 10 points above anyone else in 1955 and stood as an NFL record until it was surpassed by Joe Montana in 1982. Graham is still the only player to gain more than 10 yards per attempt for a season more than once. His 44 career rushing touchdowns are still the most for any quarterback.

Kelly is no way in the top 10 - sorry. Hehe - no Unitas, Baugh, Otto Graham? Staubach, Bradshaw, Starr...? Here's one list - doesn't include the current guys... https://bleacherreport.com/articles/508810-ranking-the-hall-of-fame-quarterbacks#slide25

What Do You Want To See This Year?
BobChalmers replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So you're saying they should have kept Rex Ryan? -
You realize there is literally no way to know this, right? I believe David Carr was such an example, btw. I also believe Bills fans, far too many being complete fools, will run Allen out of town on a rail if he doesn't succeed, and won't cut him any slack at all for the weak team he has to work with.

I would like to hear honest answers from the folks here on how they would react if Allen started out the way Aikman did. Year GP Att Com Pct Yds TD Int Long QB Rating 1989 11 293 155 52.9 1,749 9 18 75 55.7 1990 15 399 226 56.6 2,579 11 18 61 66.6 1991 12 363 237 65.3 2,754 11 10 61 86.7 It took Aikman three years to get to where EJ Manuel started as a rookie. Obviously we're in a different era where passing is easier, but people here will probably be screaming to draft another QB by half-way through the season.

Zay Jones has to tell KB where to line up?
BobChalmers replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, he's a special athlete - but his attitude is crap. -
It could take him a REALLY long time to sack Allen based on that.
-
Haha - to Orchard's credit - that was his knock on himself. He seemed like a good guy and not untalented. If he's a good special teams guy it's all good, and I wouldn't even take cutting Washington to make room as a knock on Adolphus. Orchard is a legit depth guy with some pass rush ability. What was his excuse last season when he took one of the better units in the league and turned it into garbage with the SAME PLAYERS? Here in Baltimore the Ravens fans were THRILLED to see his sorry butt out of town - and his illegitimate love child (or whatever the heck he is) Vlad Ducasse with him!

Was there a solid plan on the QB after Tyrod left?
BobChalmers replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought it was a fair point until I remembered they got the 65th pick in the draft for Tyrod. That was a steal. Well seriously, who doesn't start the number one overall pick? -

- They also got the first pick in the 3rd round for Taylor - which (I believe?) they used to get Edmunds (the best player on the team yesterday). That was amazing value for a guy who won't be a starting QB in the league ever again once the Browns start Mayfield. - They got McCarron as a FA and turned him in to another 5th round pick. Not apples to apples at all - can't just compare salaries. -

Neither McCarron nor Peterman has enough of a sample set to make any stats meaningful. They are NFL coaches and they used their eyes. When McCarron plays well for the Raiders or whoever they dump him off to, (albeit probably with a better supporting cast than the Bills) and assuming he ever sees the field again in the NFL then your point might mean a lot more. -

Sure - and to continue your construction analogy, Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds are the FOUNDATION. P.S. we don't get Allen and Edmunds w/o trading Tyrod and Cordy!! -

Based on what is McCarron better than Peterman? NP outplayed AJM all preseason and camp. That they were stuck with that choice as all they had to "protect" Allen is bad, I guess, assuming you think Allen needs this psychological protection. (I Have mixed feelings myself). I was hoping for Cousins and then Bradford, but as others have stated, they cost too much and... this 2018 season has two (always planned) priorities - eat the almost $60M in dead cap, and develop your offensive (Allen) and defensive (Edmunds) futures of the franchise. "The process" has us well on the way to both (assuming Allen doesn't get messed up playing with this crap offense). -
What happens to Kelvin Benjamin will tell the tale. He was a zero EFFORT player out there - set a brutal example for the WR room. They really need to consider cutting him to establish how serious they are about the culture.
