  1. this alone more than vindicates you. your man card is secure.
  2. congratulations! I hope it works for you.
  3. both songs are using a compositional device found in all kinds of modern music - a simple ascending/descending pattern, both in the key of A minor. as an aside, your example tells me that despite some knowledge of the classics (re Wagner), you know way too much about Coldplay, Men at Work, and the Spice Girls. keep it up and you'll have to hand in your man card.
  4. Pantera covers Black Sabbath's 'Electric Funeral'
  5. from the article: 'The Iranian delegation last week presented new red lines that could not be crossed, including the expansion of the country’s research and development for its nuclear program, the need of the country to continue enrichment, and the fact that the country’s ballistic missile program — despite U.N. sanctions — is not up for negotiation.' we have noting to worry about.....everyone now knows that 'red lines' don't mean a thing nowadays.
  6. people need to be partisans in order to stand for something?
  7. you've got to admit, it's got a ring to it.
  8. .." it wasn't clear whether Bechard was protesting." maybe he just wanted a little stimulus.
  9. thank you. that made my point better than I could have ever worded it.
  10. senators weren't originally directly elected by the constituency. as they represent the interests of the state that they each represent, they were originally appointed by state legislatures. Article I, section 3: "The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each state, chosen by the legislature thereof for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote." that was changed by the 17th ammendment in 1913 due to too many senate seats sitting vacant due to contention within many of the state legislatures.
  11. I don't believe he ever actually espoused income inequality. I believe his position was always that in a free market economy, income inequality was always going to be present.
  12. apparently there are a lot of people who don't realize that we're a representitive republic, and that each state is considered a sovereign entity provided equal representation in the senate.
  13. to be honest, I'd be satisfied to see it explained in non-technical terms.
  14. Milton Friedman was an extremist?
  15. I've never even heard the song before, and I'd pay 5 bucks for that.
  16. from the article: "According to local news reports, police in Lorain County stopped Gurley and claimed to smell marijuana in the car, giving them probable cause to search the vehicle, which is also legal under Ohio law. The cops found no drugs, but they noticed wires leading to the back of the car. The police eventually uncovered the illegal compartment, which was empty, and arrested Gurley. “Without the hidden compartment law, we would not have had any charges on the suspect,” Lt. Michael Combs of the state highway patrol told WKYC-TV." that's a crock. a cop can just say that he smelled weed, then find an empty compartment in the vehicle and the driver does time for having an 'illegal compartment'? how can anyone but a statist think that something like that is okay?
  17. as of yesterday, my 39 years of cigarette smoking came to an end 40 weeks ago thanks to these devices. May Day 10 is right. find a shop that has lots of different types. I have two that I can interchange: a Vamo V2 and a Vamo V5. I use cartomizers instead of a wick, but that's just personal preference. I have them mix me a custom blend that very closely mimics the flavor of menthol cigarettes, which has helped me stick with it since the experience is very similar to what I was used to while smoking. I think these things are nothing short of fantastic. my cardiologist is delighted with my making the change, and he says he sees nothing wrong with my continuing to vape indefinitely.
  18. and besides, they only want what's good for you.
  19. local republican voters are to blame?
  20. 'government', 'well-crafted', and 'common sense'.
  21. I absolutely think the quest for knowledge should be completely separate from any quest to save the world, because that automatically imposes a bias on the research. when the research happens to be in a field that involves major policy issues effecting literally everyone, there is no room for bias of any kind. on a separate note, I think way too many people mistake 'skeptics' as 'deniers'. most people I know that don't buy into the man-made climate change issue aren't outright deniers, but instead would like to see something a little more solid than computer-modeled projections or shrill cries regarding polar bears before we go crafting any more policy or legislation that drives up the cost of energy.
