  1. Those fairy tales are the basis for western morality, and the concept of a creator (be it a deity, evolution, or pure random chance) is the underpinning of our Constitutional liberties. I'm not much of believer myself, but I can still respect and appreciate those that are. I once accompanied an old girlfriend to a Pentecostal service where people would leap up from their seat and speak in tongues, and the only other time I experienced a group of people displaying that intense a level of fervor was years later when I sat in on a meeting of a local atheists club. The similarities between both groups were undeniable.
  2. Dammit - I just knew Oliver North has to be involved somehow!
  3. Which is another reason that I can't wait to see them released into the workforce and the real world. Oh, the wailing and gnashing of teeth will be a spectacle to behold.
  4. I know a pretty fair amount of democrats who aren't leftist at all, and that frequently vote republican and libertarian. It's probably a Texas thing - the family has been democrat for generations, but vote that way less & less as the party moves left.
  5. I think you'll find racism and misogyny are found mostly in statements and actions, where PC is more about words and euphemisms. PC needs to go away, just as racism and misogyny do. Replace all of it with simple, common respect.
  6. Same here - member of the CWA for 23 years, and not voting democrat. She's a liberal democrat, and everybody knows that as human beings, they're superior in every way to everyone else. So what if a couple classified emails accidentally slipped through a private server, that half the weapons intended for Libyan rebels fell into ISIS hands, or that access to the State Department was sold a time or two? Everyone does that - just ask Colin Powell.
  7. The DOJ just dropped it's case against a gun-runner due to the possibility of damaging information regarding Obama & Hillary's involvement. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/10/05/doj-abruptly-drops-case-against-gun-runner-who-threatened-to-reveal-clintons-libya-dealings.html "They don’t want this stuff to come out because it will look really bad for Obama and Clinton just before the election,” an associate of Turi told Politico, claiming that information sought by Turi’s team would show Clinton’s own role in arming Libyan rebels fighting former strongman Col. Muammar Qaddafi while she was secretary of state." "When this equipment landed in Libya, half went one way, and the half went the other way," Turi previously told Fox News, emphasizing that poor oversight, allowed individuals hostile to the United States to get arms. "The half that went the other way is the half that ended up in Syria."
  8. There have only been three movies that truly creeped me out over the years. In chronological order: 1) The Haunting (1963) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057129/ 2) The Exorcist (1973) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070047/ 3) The Ring (2002) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0298130/ That being said, horror is by far my favorite genre, so I like an awful lot of horror movies. The only sub-genre I don't care for is slasher films, excluding Hitchcock's classic Psycho (it's just too good a suspense movie, despite being the original slasher film.) Honorable mentions as genuine classics are the original Universal versions of Frankenstein, Dracula, and The Mummy, along with the 1922 version of Nosferatu. I like a lot of the old British Hammer films as well.
  9. Al Gore would be better served devoting all of his time to hunting manbearpig.
  10. Extremely refreshing to see this - if only it gets half the attention that Kaepernick got.
  11. Indeed - I had forgotten about that. I remember at the time that I thought she was a goner for sure.
  12. Yeah, serious hubris on Eichhorst's part. The guy can move so fast that it's hard to hit him with bullets, but Dutch waylays him and hacks off his hand. Score!
  13. It's starting to look like they're grooming Zach to be the new vessel for the Master after all.
  14. I've seen plenty of the David Attenborough shows where he observes primates picking mites from each others' coats, and was trying to remember if I had seen a segment where he was observing rhinos slathering lotion on each others' backs.
  15. What can I say? I'm Irish.
  16. And this coming from a rhino, a creature with arguably the crappiest, most cracked & pitted complexion on Earth.
  17. The politicians that are for the switch to ICANN are being just as disingenuous as Cruz is. It's performance art. We're all better off doing our own research and avoiding taking sides in their political posturing.
  18. ICANN isn't involved in content or regulation. It is an independent entity that is not directly tied to any government (in an official capacity), and exists to provide IP addresses and web addresses in each country, instead of the rest of the world depending on the US to provide them. Chances are that ICANN would not have been given this authority if Snowden's leaks hadn't shown potential US government involvement in internet spying. I posted a link to a very good article on the subject by cnet.com over in the MSM thread.
  19. Naive question - do locker rooms actually have security cameras?
  20. And not all people stopped and frisked are done so under legitimate probable cause. I personally would prefer we err on the side of liberty, and if that allows a few criminals to slip through in the process, then so be it.
