  1. Portal is a great game (The cake is a lie!), and Steam is offering it for free for the next week or so: http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/34114/free...tal-pc-mac-game It's a bit old, but is a classic -- it's a first person puzzle game. The story is very funny and the end song is great. CW
  2. Well if certain people would use more descriptive titles....
  3. When I was in Juneau, I got a kick out of the "Bear Proof" garbage cans: http://www.flickr.com/photos/43777639@N06/4600615301/
  4. " A TV communications satellite is drifting out of control thousands of miles above the Earth, threatening to wander into another satellite's orbit and interfere with cable programming across the United States, the satellites' owners said Tuesday." http://www.sun-sentinel.com/business/fl-ou...,0,571552.story
  5. 79. I'm good with that...
  6. If the money has already been spent and there's no refund, turn it into a big party for yourself and your friends/family. Why let the food and good times go to waste? (obviously don't put up any wedding decorations or anything ).
  7. Woah, look at all of those letters and numbers on the bottom of the screen! Aliens are trying to communicate with us!!!! Hawking says we shouldn't respond...
  8. Yeah, I don't understand why they didn't just move THROUGH the guy. Especially when they said, "the gloves are off" at the airport. Lame.
  9. Congrats!!! I've never smoked, but my wife used to and I know quitting for her was really tough! Glad you kicked it!
  10. Presale for St. Paul, MN was available today. I was planning on going - until I saw the prices. $199 for the floor (row 36), or lower-bowl. $75 for the upper level seats $55 for the upper level, far away from the stage seats And that's before Ticket Master adds their prices...
  11. $50 says otherwise.
  12. Thanks, everyone! Nothing special planned for today - wife works tonight, so I'll probably play some Xbox 360 since I don't know how much time I'll have coming up; I start graduate school on Monday...
  13. Thanks for reminding me... I have to relist the scanner tonight (I've scanned 15 images over 6 negatives, and not a single issue...).
  14. Not sure what I would think if I saw someone wearing one... But they look cool in picture form at least. http://www.mouthman.com/category_s/31.htm
  15. The guy's going to shoot Steve AND the buyer to take the cash AND the ring...
  16. I second that -- awesome idea!
  17. Weird -- when I purchased mine, the round was clearly less expensive. That's not the case now. Good catch.
  18. Yes, but Steve said he has a princess cut - and fancy cuts generally cost more than round cuts... And I can second Blue Nile -- I bought my wife's ring 9 years ago, when they were still a pretty new company, and they went out of their way to make me happy! I always buy jewelry from them now (albeit much cheaper ). As for the original question -- the price of gold and platinum is much higher now than it was when you bought, so that might help. Not sure where to go to sell though... I would NOT sell it through eBay though -- I made a post about my negative experience trying to sell a scanner through them, and it's REALLY easy for buyers to scam you nowadays.
  19. Zetabyte's been around for a long time... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZFS
  20. A bit off topic, but I heard the list of the ten least liked foods in America. Bleu Cheese was #2 on the list... Right below liver.
  21. Last week's episode of "The Good Wife" (great show, BTW) covered this very topic.
  22. Here's the pictures I promised! http://www.flickr.com/photos/43777639@N06/...57623853737803/ Feet are still a little sore today, but overall I made it through unscathed.
  23. Thanks for all of the donations, everyone! The walk was great -- there were a TON of dogs there - little ones, huge ones, all shapes and sizes. There were also some cats, ferrets, and even a monkey on the walk! Buzzy's sleeping, as is my wife. I'm just relaxing my feet - 5 miles is a long way. I'll try to post some pictures later this weekend.
