The video quality also (generally) isn't anywhere near as good as it would be if you captured and then used TMPGenc (or similar) to encode. Time vs. quality. How good is "good enough?" CW

It's actually not unique at all. A few weeks ago a guy started the whole trend by selling ad space on his forehead. He got $37,000 to advertise some anti-snoring something or other. Then the knockoffs started. CW

9-3 in your last 12 games (after the replacement of TH) is terrible. In other news, we lost to the Patriots three times this year according to espn: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/teams/schedule?team=buf Sun Oct 3 New England L 17-31 Sat Nov 6 at New England L 7-21 Sun Nov 14 at New England L 6-29 CW

Yeah, he went to the locker room but came back after halftime. CW

How long after DB is gone will the debate rage on?
Fezmid replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They still do I'd be more concerned with what people are going to do/say if DB *isn't* released. CW -
Buffalo had a winning record this year... But they can't do any worse with a new QB? How quickly we all forget Todd Collins, AVP and RJ.... Again, if this does all pan out the way people in the thread want it to, it'll be interesting to see what people are saying if we go 4-12. Two years ago, Buffalo was 8-8, one game behind the Patriots... It'd be very easy to fall from where we are. You guys are talking like we were 2-14 this year. Regardless, I can't wait until the decision has been made either way so we can move on. CW
-
We'll see what people say if we wind up 4-12 next year... That said, this is still firmly planted in "rumor" state right now; there's no links anywhere to back it up. I'd guess it's the same "story" as when Mort said it last month. CW

So because something else we do is worse, we should just compound on top of that? Hell, why not just throw old batteries in the garbage too then? (you do recycle those, don't you?) CW

"Your trash will eventually make it to a local landfill, where your medications could still have the potential to leach out. Many municipal or local trash services now have local household waste facilities where you can safely drop off your medications for incineration. Call your local trash service for options in your area." http://arthritis.about.com/od/arthritismed...disposemeds.htm Of course, instead of it getting into the ground or water, incineration puts it into the air... Is that really better? CW
-
Not the right answer: http://arthritis.about.com/od/arthritismed...disposemeds.htm http://www.foxchasepediatrics.com/News%20P...ns%209-8-03.htm http://www.napra.ca/practice/toolkits/toolkit9/takeback.pdf Apparantly calling the pharmacist is the best option; many of them take the drugs back and (presumably?) dispose of them safely. CW

How do you get rid of them? I'm assuming down the drain or in the garbage is a bad idea (contamination). So what do you do with them? I don't have any, but it'd probably be good info to have. CW

I disagree on the subwoofer comment -- the subwoofer is used to handle all of the low frequencies on music, just like movies. The center channel isn't used, but the sub definately is. I really wish there was a Tweeter here; from what I hear, it's a cool store CW

Don't buy Monster cable. Don't get suckered into the "our wires are made of some super-secret government installation and that's why they cost $1000/ft". It's all hype. For the most part, wire is wire. Connections are important, but the wire itself is, generally, not. That said, don't buy the cheapest crap you can find either. CW

http://www.avsforum.com Those forums can answer any questions you can throw at it. That said, avoid Bose -- while they're not bad, they're vastly overpricsed. It depends on if you want a "Home Theater in a Box" (cheap, but lesser quality; however, "good enough" for most people), or if you want high quality stuff, in which case you need to buy the receiver, speakers, etc, all separately. Here's a good deal for an Onkyo (good quality) HTiB: http://www.compusa.com/products/product_in...H&ref=cj&pfp=cj Not sure if it's a price mistake or whatnot, but if you have a CompUSA near you it might be worth buying it and going for the instore pickup. Circuit City is selling the same system for over $450. CW

And that's the main problem I have with hockey games in general. It always seems like there's some special "move" you can do to score goals 98% of the time. And if you don't do the "move" you score about 0.001% of the time. They're still fun to play, but that part frustrates me. CW

So you can compare WM walking off the stage because he's losing as a good thing ("it shows he's competitive!"), but you can't say that he simply gives up when the going gets tough ("it's just a meaningless video game!"). I know people said the same thing back when I posted about it last year, but I still disagree and think that at best it shows a lack of maturity and at worst a lack of discipline and perseverance. But that's just me. CW

Sure glad the Buffalo Bills didn't have the "run to the bus" mentality against the Oilers... CW
-
He's also a poor sport when losing Madden. I posted an article last year where he got so pissed off during a similar competition that he just stormed off the stage around halftime. CW

Hey, that would've been clever... CW

[OT] anyone experienced in server stress testing?
Fezmid replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Havn't done any myself. However, I've heard about this tool: http://hammerhead.sourceforge.net/ Apache come with one as well -- called 'ab' (and is in the apache bin directory). Never used that one either... CW -
Exactly. $54 is 10% of $540, which is approxamately what I paid for the laptop two years ago. CW

I meant regarding WEP... CW

Most of our desktops here are Dell, so I asked someone if we had any extra old laptop power cables laying around that we didn't need. As luck would have it, we do. Whew, just saved $55! The udonkey suggestion was good though -- I forgot that he worked there. I'll keep that in mind for the future. CW

I think Chad Pennington may disagree with you. CW PS: download the manual for your router!

I've had the stomach flu occasionally, but that only lasta a day or two luckily. I've only had the flu once that I can remember. It was back in '95, and I was out of commision for a week. It went around the office, and we dubbed it "The Martian Death Plague." It sucked. Bad. CW
