  1. It's way less than 50%; more like ~20% (at least in the Holiday Inn and Quality Inn that my mom used to work at). CW
  2. Here's your answer: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...g=UTF8&v=glance CW
  3. 10% for everyone would be less than the 15-20% (and now I've read places that say 25%) that is recommended to tip. The difference would be that 15-20% tippers wouldn't be subsidizing the 0% tippers. Uh oh, is this going to push it into the PPP forum? CW
  4. Actually, I think that's gotta be one of the hardest jobs out there; my mom used to do that when I was a kid, and it KILLS your body. I helped her a couple of times and it sucked. On top of the normal rooms, you'd be shocked (or maybe not...) how many people absolutely trash their hotel rooms, and the maids need to clean that all up. Puke, trash, beer bottles, cig butts, everything. It's gross, it's hard, and they only make minimum wage with no benefits. Disgusting, when you consider how much the hotels charge for the rooms. Sorry, but that one hit close to home. CW
  5. I like the way they handle tipping in England -- 10%, automatically added to your bill. If you don't agree that the service is worth 10%, you can bring it up with the server after the meal and get it removed/reduced. However, everyplace my wife and I went, the service was EASILY worth 10%. If everyone gave 10%, servers would be making a good wage. Assume 7 tables, each table eating $30 worth of food on average, and you spend roughly an hour eating, that's $21/hour. If you assume it takes two hours to eat, that's still $10.50/hr, which still isn't terrible. CW
  6. Who's Rubin??? And why do I care? CW
  7. Serious question -- why don't you tip Taco Bell, Burger King, McDonalds? They make the food, same as people at Chili's, TGI Friday, etc? CW
  8. Or maybe they think you did a crappy job and don't deserve a tip? CW
  9. You won't have to, that's being outsourced. CW
  10. Drama nerd 44% Geek 38% Loner 38% Punk/Rebel 31% Goth 31% Prep/Jock/Cheerleader 25% Ghetto gangsta 19% Stoner 0% Gotta agree with AD on this one... I was never interested in drama... The geek is pretty accurate, but the rest isn't even close. CW
  11. Yes (to protect Scott - the AP came down on people copying articles on USENET back in the early 90s - pre-WWW). Also, the stories can change (the sources add/remove from the story), so to keep up-to-date, it's nice to have the link. CW
  12. Link please? People shouldn't be copying entire articles without posting a link for a variety of reasons.... CW
  13. Yes, but you know as well as I do that you were talking about what films are generally considered "good," not your own personal opinion. You saying this points that out: You also said: If you think there's only been 11 or 12 good films in the last 7 years, then perhaps you should stop watching movies, as it's a waste of your time. CW
  14. Similar to the "taser" story, what are people's thoughts about this? http://www.startribune.com/stories/484/5477831.html http://www.bugmenot.com -- if needed CW
  15. They apparantly had two firearms (since they shot and killed the bear as well), so I just figured you were a good shot and didn't NEED to use both of them... I guess I was mistaken. CW
  16. Wow.... I don't understand how that kid stayed on XBL that long; if it were my kid, the Xbox would've been at the bottom of the trash can by the 1 minute mark. Oh sorry, I don't have kids yet, so I"m not allowed to comment on this stuff. CW PS: Above link DEFINATELY not safe for work (language)
  17. http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/06/27/bear.attack.ap/index.html
  18. Can you explain Microsoft to me please? CW
  19. Just because it's animation, doesn't mean there's no acting. Voice acting is, in a lot of ways, more difficult than "real" acting. LOTR is 3 movies, so there's five that you consider good/great. I have no idea how you can say Fight Club sucked... To each their own though. And "Hey... Stop Stabbing Me!" I threw in there to see if people were reading -- but it IS really funny, for a no-budget movie. So you're saying Pirates is the only great movie created in the last ten yeras? CW
  20. No, I didn't actually go through and list every movie over the past 10 years. Did you not notice the "etc" at the end? And only 4 were good, two sucked, and a few were barely watchable? Care to label each for me? EDIT: You may want to read this thread - plenty of movies listed that are great, all released in the last 10 years. http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=25615 CW
  21. That's not entirely fair. There's been a TON of good movies that have come out in the last 10 years. For example: Fight Club Saving Private Ryan Hey... Stop Stabbing Me Lord of the Rings Pirates of the Carribean Spider Man (1 and 2) Shrek etc. And the soon to be released, Serenity http://www.serenitymovie.com There are always going to be crappy books, crappy movies, crappy games. Always has been, that's nothing new. You just have to learn to find the good stuff. CW
  22. Why is it that everytime a taser is used, it somehow becomes "news?" CW
  23. Reed/Spikes/Tasker
  24. http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Publ...05/757fhfxg.asp This movie is going to be awesome. http://www.serenitymovie.com The DVD series is here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...&s=dvd&n=507846 Note that it's ranked #7 in DVD sales -- and has been out for nearly two YEARS, yet is still ranked that high. If you like great TV shows, you should check the DVD set out; one of the best written shows out there. CW
