  1. Don't scare me like that!!! My OTA antenna only gets NBC right now so I was relying on the Ticket to get the game in HD! Luckily for me, the Vikings play on Fox at the same time. Whew!!! CW
  2. All new recipes have been posted. Feel free to post more, everyone! CW
  3. I've told this story a few times, but it never gets old. My wife and I flew to England on 10/15/01 -- a month after 9/11. It was just announced that you couldn't bring things like nail files, tweezers, and other crazy crap. Fine, whatever. So at the check-in counter, I tried getting an upgrade to 1st class because it was our honeymoon (it was!). She wasn't able to do that, but she gave us some vouchers for a future flight, tickets for free headphones, alcohol on the plane, etc. Fast forward to our flight -- the stewardess hands us a BOTTLE of champaign. Now that was very nice of them -- but I think a glass bottle is probably a bit more danger than a nail file... Fast forward again to the flight back to the States. We bought a really nice heavy duty umbrella in London. Unfortunately, we couldn't fit it in the suitcase! We went to the check-in counter and asked if we were allowed to bring the steel-tipped umbrella on the plane. The guy looked over the list of "banned items," saw umbrella wasn't listed, and said, "Yeah, no problem." I could've impaled someone on this umbrella very easily, but heaven forbid you bring a nail file on the plane! Stupid. CW
  4. Just sent you a PM. Cut out the <BR><BR> parts; those are returns. As for preview -- I don't have any access to the scripts themselves. It should be doable, but I don't have access to the server to do that (nor do I know perl yet, which is what I'm assuming it's written in). It's technically possible to do it, and I could probably figure it out if i had access, but I don't. CW
  5. Nothing I can do to let you guys edit them; there's no concept of an "owner," so only the admin can modify the posts. rtconner -- I deleted your recipe so you can enter it again. It was actually an accident; I was editing it for you, and then clicked the delete button. Post it again, as it sounded REALLY good and I might try it for the game this Sunday! If anyone has edits they'd like to make to the recipes, you can send them to me and I can hand do them. CW
  6. So what you're saying is that if you didn't like football, you wouldn't watch it? CW
  7. Actually, there's been plenty of research that shows people with TiVo (and DVR's in general) actually pay MORE attention to the commercials than normal people. Why? Because we have to watch the screen to know when to press play again. Along the same lines, there's been a lot of research showing that people with TiVo (and DVRs in general) will actually stop and watch a commercial if they think it looks interesting. The problem isn't DVRs - the problem is that companies bombard you with the same commercial dozens of times a day. Who wants to watch the same Pepsi machine commercial 30 times during one football game?! Make an interesting commercial and people will watch. CW
  8. And that, my friend, is a scary thing. Patdowns do nothing to increase security (just like taking off shoes and not bringing nail files on planes does nothing to increase security). It's simply window dressing. Sad. Although I do like the idea of hugging the pat downers. Hey, you touch me, I touch you. CW
  9. I find time eventually. For example, I had the entire first season (and part of the second season) of Battlestar Gallactica on the TiVo, but never had time to watch it until a couple of months ago. We still have 8 or 9 episodes of Enterprise on the TiVo as well... It helps when you hack the TiVo so it has 150 hours of recording. Then you don't worry about running out of space CW
  10. The problem with that line is that the people who are bashing Bledsoe now were complaining about wins last year, even in blowout wins against teams like Seattle and St. Louis. ("Yeah, but he threw 3 INTs in the first quarter, so he obviously SUCKS!") CW
  11. Two TiVos and you only record 14 season passes? Rookie! We have about 40-50 season passes. I'll try to write them down when I get home. Of the ones you have listed, we have these in common: 1. Lost 5. Prisonbreak 6. The 4400 7. Threshold 8. Battlestar Galatica 12. Invasion* 13. Surface 14. My Name Is Earl* We also have Veronica Mars, an AWESOME show. Can't remember most of hte others (lots of crime shows for my wife, like all three CSIs...) CW
  12. How was it? I recorded it (since it's in HD...), but it sounded pretty lame. Is it worth watching? CW
  13. You're already on the Wall of Fame. CW
  14. Losman doesn't need people defending him - he already has most of the board, so why bother throwing in a "me too!" I've been defending the defense from people who are saying they played like crap all game. CW
  15. Losman had four passes hit the Bucs in the hands. Maybe the coaches are "teaching" him to throw uncatchable balls? "Almost interceptions" count just as much as "almost lost fumbles." CW
  16. The stats were from yesterday's game. 0 Sacks against the vaunted Redskins Defense that was predicted to have seventeen sacks against Bledsoe. Sorry I didn't differentiate as well as I should've. Yesterday: 0 Sacks, 0 INTs, 0 Fumbles lost, 90.2 QB rating Season: A few sacks (3?), 0 INTs, 0 Fumbles lost, 112.3 QB rating CW
  17. Not to mention, I thought the biggest complaint about DB was sacks and turnovers. 0 Interceptions 0 Sacks 0 Fumbles Lost Guess what? No turnovers in two games. I thought all the bashers were saying GW was going to eat Bledsoe for lunch and have seventeen sacks for the day? NONE. Everyone said his QB rating sucks as well. It's currently 112.3 (and was 90.2 yesterday). Personally, I don't think QB rating means all that much, but people are quick to point it out when it's a negative thing. I guess haters have to hate, even though the Bills don't look much different now than they did last year... CW
  18. Mark your calendars -- presale starts on 9/22! http://www.trans-siberian.com/ontour/index.php CW
  19. Have you checked your local library? Seriously -- my wife used to buy a ton of books, read them once, and then they'd sit around collecting dust. She's been using the library for a couple of years now, and it works out well. They have a website here where you can request the books you want, and they're ready for you to pick up when you go to the library. If the library doesn't have it in stock, they request it from another library in the state. Very cool system. CW
  20. I like how at the beginning of the week, people were saying, "Yeah, I love that attitude! Look how well it carried over to the Texans game!" Flipfloppers. CW
  21. D'oh! I didn't even make the connection... CW
  22. http://www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html CW
  23. It's all part of Scott's plan to get people to actually visit this forum. CW
  24. We'll have to see how they are when I watch a game down there. If they win against the Falcons next week, I'm watching all games down there from now on (instead of just the ones in HD). Thanks! CW
  25. I said the same thing yesterday - I don't get VA's reasoning but hey. CW
