Actually, that's not entirely true. If he worked for the company Widget Inc, and registered a domain name, widget.com, his company COULD go after him and take the domain away for free. Now if he had his own company, widget.com, or could show that he didn't make it to have any connection with the company, he might be ok. But making widget.com to put up a letter about the company -- the company could take the domain.
Would they? Well, if they haven't evne purchased the domain for $8/year, they probably don't care for whatever reason. But they COULD.
