  2. "I've wined and dined with kings and queens, and I've slept in alleys eatin' pork and beans."
  3. If I were overly optimistic, I might theorize that the play of all three guys is lifted when they all play together. When they're all in the lineup, Schobel mans the right side and Denney and Kelsay rotate on the left side. This could improve both Denney's play and Kelsay's play in two ways: (1) each guy is kept fresher, by virtue of each individual playing less snaps, and (2) Perry Fewell is able to specialize the two of them, meaning its easier to put them into situations that play to their strengths. Someone pointed out that Schobel is 2 years removed from his last double-digit sack season. If I were overly optimistic, I might theorize that he just needs both Denney and Kelsay to be healthy. That last double-digit sack season was indeed 2006, the last time the three of them were healthy for an extended run. As I said above, Denney and Kelsay both being in the lineup might raise the play of each of them, meaning the left side might present more of a threat to the offense. That might open things up for Schobel, and could be why his game has fallen off since '06. Personally, I don't think I'm overly optimistic, so I DON'T buy into my own theory. Kelsay and Denney just don't pass the eye test to me...I don't want a rotation that exists mainly because neither guy is good enough to play every down. And I want a more explosive player in that spot than either of those guys could ever possibly be. But, even though I'm wearing my realist hat, I have to acknowledge this little theory of mine can not be PROVEN wrong. This means that, no matter how realistic or cynical I might be, I must admit that there is at least a small chance that this theory is on-point, and our pass rush stands to improve significantly over last year's embarrassment. In other words...there is a little bit of hope here. God forbid, huh?
  4. Its fckin ridiculous. We should've signed Coles. I don't care if he got overpayed...you can overpay for ONE player when you have $30M in cap room. Coles is exactly what we need, that intermediate threat. Its okay to have no recievers when you have Tom Brady...when you have an inexperienced wildcard at QB, you need to make things easy on him. There is nobody else on the market who can bring what Coles brings. That was our last hope to really help this offense. Completely botched. How in the world will the offense improve if you come back next season with the same exact players? Thanks Alpha, I'm feeling a bit better already...
  5. Speaking of course about Denney, Kelsay and Schobel. I'm not saying this means everything will be okay as long as they're healthy. Two out of these three guys are seemingly awful, and Schobel is an unknown these days. But if the three of them all finally stay healthy this year, perhaps there is just a small scrap of hope for the pass rush.
  6. Honestly, have you ever been to a home game?
  7. Well there go any thoughts of trading one of these guys.
  8. Freddy Keiaho Meets the Media Video interview
  9. Didn't Kawika play the strong side with the Giants?
  10. Thats exactly the way I feel. For being only 6 days into free agency, we've dealt with too many disappointments. Just throw us a god damn bone here.
  11. No problem. edit- bb.com story added to the OP, by the way.
  12. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1...78-dceec932a1cf yup yup edit- and here's his interview
  13. And it would've been great if we got him for $6M a year, but INSANITY if it was $7M!!!
  14. I wouldn't mind Galloway. He and Evans on the outside, Reed and Fine/rookie TE work the middle. He wouldn't be the can't-miss, picture perfect fit Coles would've been. But its better than risking the season on a 7th round sophomore because he made two nice plays.
  15. I'm with you, marauder. Jackson is better in my eyes as well. There are things Lynch does better, and they are very close, but Jackson has a better all-around game. He's more explosive and a better reciever. Better vision and "moves" as well. Both guys are very good, and deserve to be feature backs.
  16. I don't think we're trading him for a reciever, considering that we've had visits with three recievers. That part of the theory doesn't make much sense.
  17. Just look at the free agents we're signing. We're bringing in LBs and RBs by the bunches, and seem pretty committed to bringing in veterans at WR and LG. That means DE and TE are left for the draft. That simple.
  18. Galloway visited New England earlier. If he's got enough left in the tank for Belichick, he's got enough for me. As someone just said, he's just a year removed from his 1000 yard days. I'm incredibly bitter about missing out on Coles and this will not change that, but we need to acquire SOME alternative to Steve Johnson in case he isn't ready for this, and Galloway seems as good an option as any.
  19. That does make sense, but I think the thread title is worded strangely. The "general feeling on TSW is that no matter what we do, the Bills suck." Yet most individual members of TSW feel the opposite...that we'd get better if we could only fix A, B and C.
  20. Its just too much of a gamble to start a 7th round sophomore based on two plays. Anybody can make two plays and still be a bust. I'm high on Johnson, too. I think he's going to be a player. But I'm not willing to bet the 2009 Bills' offense that he'll put it all together this season.
  21. Great posts, BillsVet. Agree with every word.
  22. I don't think so. From what I've seen, he just is not THAT good. Somewhere between Ellison and Crowell...in other words, just another guy. Buffalo gave up their last hope of getting a significant impact with a free agent when they let Coles get away.
  23. Which is why I don't understand Senator's point. I don't think you actually believe the Bills will suck no matter what. If they fired Jauron and signed a deal with Shanahan or Cowher tomorrow, would you still have no hope? Personally, I think a lot of our problems stem from the quarterback position. If the Bills got Peyton Manning tomorrow in a trade, I'd be downright ecstatic about our chances this year. I think its true that no matter what Buffalo does, there will be SOMEONE on here who is still pessimistic...thats because there's so many people on here, you're bound to have at least a few who don't see Bill Cowher and Peyton Manning as enough...maybe they want Julius Peppers instead. But I do think most of us have something that could get us excited about 2009. Here we are arguing about what that something should be, and thats without Cowher, Manning or Peppers being in play. The problem with the Bills' approach is they refuse to throw you a fuggin bone once in awhile, so it gets tough to be optimistic. Obviously there are no Cowhers, Mannings or Peppers' coming any time soon. Hell, we can't even pay the going rate for Laveraneus freakin' Coles.
  24. I just get a little tired of people speaking in absolutes on here so much. Way too often you see words like "guarantee," "it won't happen," "forget it," and so on. I don't know why people can't use terms like "probably," or "I don't think that..." or "there doesn't seem to be much of a chance that..." Its not all Malta, so I guess I shouldn't have attacked him specifically like that.
