  1. League-wide rankings through three games inform one's opinion for ****. Watch the games. There are very knowledgeable posters here (myself not withstanding) who see things differently than you, and they didn't require a trip to the nfl.com stats page to figure out what's going on.
  2. Perhaps...but now it seems like Byrd and Gilmore are both inching back to health. I don't care if the discussion on this takes place here or there: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/161650-the-2013-run-defense/#entry2919665
  3. I'll leave this here. I'm going to keep this as an ongoing thread, and while I've animated the chart, watching it toggle back and forth between only two data sets doesn't really "show" you much. So look at them, and consider whether or not this year's run defense is as bad as last year's.
  4. Yep, and yep. Also, injuries are one thing, but in a system that DEPENDS on its DB's to have your THREE best CB's out AND your Pro Bowl FS out...the scheme itself is !@#$ing compromised. Yet the defense is still not the issue. This year's defense is light years improved!
  5. They key word--YOUR word--is "qualify." Listen to what eball is telling you. The Jets run game did not hurt us yesterday. At all.
  6. Also: we acknowledge the Pettine's scheme mirrors Rex's and that it relies heavily on the corners' ability to neutralize receivers...so...what were people expecting with our top THREE guys out? No they weren't. That's just plain false.
  7. Ring a ding ding ding.
  8. Overall the D is an issue? They're 100% on critical fourth and short stops, they've gotten big sacks and turnovers when they've needed them. Other than a game winning drive by first ballot HOF'er Tom Brady that featured some RIDICULOUS catches from whats-his-face, they've come up big and gotten critical stops all along the way, often in spite of the offense's ability to stay on the field or give htem good field position. I'm sorry, but last year, the defense was the issue. This year, it's the offense.
  9. Problem is--and the main reason yesterday was so tough to swallow--he's on the right team to capitalize on it,
  10. I have a running thread about this, and I'm updating the numbers now. Looking at no. of runs for x no. of yards tells you nothing. It's like measuring a company's profitability by looking only at its revenue. eballl is right, the run defense is improved. period.
  11. Anyone who thought we'd have zero stinkers during a season led by a rookie head coach, a rookie quarterback and a 33-year-old offensive coordinator was delusional. Also: Geno's a punk.
  12. jesus, ej it's called a !@#$ing pocket. stop rolling directly into pressure. ugh, rookie.
  13. jesus !@#$ing christ, ej sucks at the deep ball down the sideline
  14. so...you agree with the opposite of what i said?
  15. I know eveyrone wants to blame this one on Hackett...but EJ has been absolutely horrendous in this game. also: how was that not a penalty on david harris?
  16. what the !@#$ is going on!?
  17. 2 failed challenges in 3 plays...in the second half!?
  18. Hackett has no faith in EJ...
  19. oh man, the OC is really making EJ throw some bad passes out there.
  20. that terrible throw must have been because of playcalling
  21. that sack must have been because of playcalling
  22. seriously, wtf the jets play--HANDS !@#$ING DOWN--their best football against us..EVERY !@#$ING YEAR
