Yes, Tyler Wilson is the best choice........ To join his fellow Bobby Petrino acolytes Brian Brohm, Hunter Cantwell and Stefan LeFors in the unemployment line after a very brief NFL career proves them to be nothing but a system QB

An Open Thread to Communicate with Russ Brandon
JM57 replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Want to go ahead and give a big +1 to every true @$$hole who decided to bag on the OP in this thread. Congratulations mongoloids, you've showed your true colors. LOLZ RUSS BRANDON DUZNT NO WHUT A MESS-UJ BOARD IZ. HE IZ R BIZZY RUNN NFL BIZNASS. OP makes a good point about something you learn in the most basic of college marketing classes: KNOW YOUR TARGET MARKET. So pertaining to running the Bills, that means know what would placate them. The Sabres and Ted Black understand this. Its why they did that survey deal to fans and then added things like radio feeds in the bathroom, new TVs at concession stands, the intermission ending bell, shelves above the urinals and so on. OP WAS trying to make a thread where we compiled a similar list of things that would make our experience at RWS better, should Mr. Brandon be a savvy enough marketing man to have a gopher perusing the fans' domain. He's not gonna listen to fans about coaching/drafting/etc because guess what....THEY PAY A LOT OF PEOPLE A LOT OF MONEY TO DO THAT WORK, whether they do a good job or not. Buncha dummies up in here the past week. Its like Chan getting fired brought out all the stupid and crazy in every poster. -
If the Bungles lose this afternoon, I wouldn't be too surprised to see the Bills sniff around beginning tomorrow. That being said..... Why is his work with Dalton so impressive? I am NOT a Fitz supporter/apologist by any means, but compare Dalton vs. Fitz stats for these last two seasons. What's the difference? And don't give me "Dalton wins games" either.....anyone with half a brain knows the biggest difference between the Bills and Bengals is the production of the defense. Top 10 vs. Bottom 5.

Darrell Bevell and Mike McCoy for HC!
JM57 replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean, it could be argued that the Orton/Manning offenses are similar. However, it could be argued they are different because before McGahee joined the team for the 2011 season, there was absolutely no running game to be found in Mile High due to Knowshon Moreno being a grade A bust. Not to mention that Manning and Orton have different grasps on the game and different limitations. -
Darrell Bevell and Mike McCoy for HC!
JM57 replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Note on McCoy: Its actually THREE offenses in LESS than 3 seasons. Offense #1 was the Kyle Orton-led offense. Offense #2 was implemented bye week last season to highlight Tebow's strength. Offense #3 is now the Manning offense. -
Chip Kelly HC! (possibly for the Browns)

Re: the Graham tweet.....I don't have my heart set on Chip Kelly, but I will lose my G.D. mind if they hire Whisenhunt -
Clearly you're out of touch with how colleges work. Big time athletic teams bring in HUGE $$$$$ to the university, which allows the school to do things with that money aside from just improving athletic facilities. As a state facility, its a lot easier to ask the PA state government to give bonuses and such to important faculty members if your football or basketball program is bringing in 10 million or MORE in profit every year.

JM57 replied to 13player's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mind you, I was only like 5 or 6 during the last Super Bowl years, so I don't remember them in detail. Also I didn't mention the Giants/Redskins games because well...that could be on the offense, or the defense...but without seeing it I have no comment. On the other hand when you lose 52-17 and 30-13 (must have been been 13-10 at the half)....your defense is allowing a boatload of points along with the offense not getting the job done. -

JM57 replied to 13player's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh so it was the offense that lost when the defense allowed a combined 82 points to Dallas? Yeah, their offense wasn't up to par in either game. But you don't win football games allowing 30 points, and you sure as hell don't win them allowing 52. -

Just addressed them in the edit. Look back at Andy Reid's tenure. Those fans were calling for his head because they lost THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. They're absolutely brutal. its almost as if they expect 19-0 from the Eagles, 193-0 from the Phillies, 98-0 from the Flyers and 98-0 from the Sixers because every single loss is treated like the end of the world. They just crap all over their coaches and players. -

Playing it up a little bit here, because I am not so sure I believe in what I am about to say, but its an entertaining thought to kick around: If the man has such a huge ego, wouldn't Buffalo BE a good fit for him? His hubris would make him think he cannot possibly fail. Building off that, he would see a place with a fiercely loyal fan base that would treat him like a G.D. rock star if he were the coach to bring them back from a decade and a half of complete irrelevance. He would be revered across half of the state and I am sure ESPN would fire up the hype machine for the man who resurrected the lowly Bills..... On the other hand, Philly is notorious for crapping all over everyone related to their sports franchises if they aren't performing up to par and the Browns....are as bad as the Bills with possibly less talent. -

I encourage anyone who thinks this way to read the following article. I wasn't big on Kelly, but after reading this....the man gets it. Very intelligent coach. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/8631595/the-success-chip-kelly-oregon-ducks-offense-more-familiar-seems -
solid post here. Common sense would dictate that off the bat, former scout Nix would be more heavily involved with that side of the GM duties, while Whaley as GM in waiting would continue his role as evaluator of Pro Personnel while learning the college scouting ropes to make him a more complete GM, right? It could probably be pretty easily concluded that it was Whaley who recommended Urbik be snatched off the waiver wire back in September 2010. What team drafted him again? And when did the Bills hire Whaley? The other "scrap heap" moves such as Chandler, Lee Smith, etc. would also fall under the arm of pro personnel, which is encouraging

Jadaveon Clowney's hit in the Outback Bowl
JM57 replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in College Football
To build off what was said on the last page, I am a SC football fan and have watched every game I could for the last 5 seasons. Clowney is an excellent talent, especially for a true sophomore/20 year old manchild. As far as his weight, what I think he needs to do to ensure NFL success is to bulk up his lower body. He is a very long, lean athlete at this point. the things he can do with his upper body are freakish. I would hate to see bulk ruin his flexibility which is an amazing asset. Strengthening his lower body would allow him to be a better player against the run and to be more explosive, imo -
Yes, please don't tell me the Bills would consider an actual NFL starting QB....
-
I was really disgusted with this at first, but the reaction of the local media guys, who are normally so negative about it, changed my mood to more optimistic. Removes the Ralph/Littman influence, age goes way down with Brandon/Whaley, I like that they don't need Ralph's approval for the new coach....big deall
-
Absolutely disgusted by this.

Yeah, I don't see very much "Logical Reasoning" in this post. The Bills probably have the 2nd most talented roster of the teams who have fired coaches today, behind the Bears. That's as opposed to the 2009 process where about 35 of the 53 players on the roster are no longer in the NFL. They have shown more signs of life in the past few years, and are locked into Buffalo for 7-10 years. A little more appealing that a team with no talent, no lease, and no direction from 3 years ago.
-
I think Buffalo has a lot more going for them now that in the 2009-10 coaching search, which is the good news. Back then, any new coach was inheriting a team that had MAYBE 15-20 NFL players, let alone starters, which they probably had less than 5. Now you've got a team that has probably the 2nd most talented roster with an available coaching position IMO, behind Chicago and just ahead of Philly. A team with probably 17 of 22 (need QB, WR2, CB2, MLB, WLB) starters set, as long as they keep Byrd and Levitre...more on this later. As well as some quality OL and DL depth, and IMO if they got a legit #2 WR, they would have above average depth there with Stevie/new guy/Nelson/Graham/Jones. It's not hard (unless you're the Bills) to plug only a handful of holes in a single off-season if you draft and sign the right players. I think the unexpected firing of Lovie Smith makes him my favorite candidate. Yes, he's a "retread hire" but there's a lot working in his favor too. The weakest spot of the Bears was clearly the O-line. He's got experience working with a versatile RB in Forte. His defenses have always had strong secondaries and line play. Hes also had some VERY good LB's there in his time, like Briggs and Urlacher, which makes me believe those black holes of the Bills D would definitely be filled. Did I mention Gil Byrd was on his staff? There's some incentive for Jairus to stay in town. It could work.....but these are the Bills.

This feels so much different than when they fired Jauron. Or when Mularkey "resigned." I wanted them both gone, but I felt much differently about that. He really is just a classy guy. Never been rude to the media, never avoided interviews, just not good enough and its too bad.

NFL Black Monday for coaches and GMs
JM57 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because in spite of all that, he may be the only coach in history who makes worse in game decisions and is worse at clock management than our beloved Chan. Also, Andy Reid cannot pick a D-coordinator to save his life since Jim Johnson passed. -
Peter king says Chan gone on Monday...
JM57 replied to OhIDunno's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But the combination of a dearth of talent at WR AND an inaccurate QB is what doomed the spread offense here. Even with Nelson as your "clutch/3rd down/possession" guy, without a QB consistently hitting WR's in stride when they DID get open, or without the ability to "throw a guy open".....the scheme is dookie. Which is why you rely on your two very strong RBs....unless you're Chan, apparently
