  1. Browns/Saints WR in the early '70s: Jubilee Dunbar Jets punt returner late '60s, early '70s: Mike Battle Hate to say it, but another Jet from the same era: Chris Farasopoulos
  2. And don't forget making a stop on the last drive against the Jets in NJ...then we would be talking 8-3.
  3. It's on my Christmas Wish List... A friend of mine has it, and sez it's a 'must have.' I have volumes I-IV on CD...I'm wondering what could be on Volume V? Hope Santa brings it so I can find out.
  4. The march-on of Cadets and Midshipmen prior to the Army-Navy game. If this doesn't get you fired up, the pilot light is OUT!
  5. Go Navy! Going to the Emerald (?) Bowl in San Francisco. They've have been a real joy to follow this year...good senior leadership and a plethora of teamwork on both sides of the ball. Sure it's not the Big Ten or SEC, but it's fun. Navy home games offer a great tailgating experience also. I suggest if anyone has the chance, get to a Navy homegame. Most importantly, Army is dead meat in two weeks.
  6. No!!!!! Oh, the humanity... Near the end of the game Fox showed a crowd shot of the scoreboard end zone area, focusing on two guys in Maple Leafs jerseys. Jeeziz, don't these two dopes own a mirror...and don't they know the NHL is dead? And don't they know they're at a FOOTBALL game...and wasn't the Gray Cup yesterday as well? I could go on....
  7. It's a joke. They don't show highlights from all games? Pathetic. Try to catch "This Week in Pro Football" on ESPN Classic...makes you pine for Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshier, and the classy NFL Films music. I believe they're shown on Friday nights or early Saturday mornings....check your local listings. I taped one from 1973 with lots of good Juice highlights...great stuff.
  8. Checked out their Pro Shop...jeez, I wish we had as much Throwback stuff available...that hoodie with a red standing buffalo would be sweet.
  9. DirecTV Brother: How is the quality for the Houston Comeback game? I remember one time you saying it wasn't very good....thanks!
  10. I was at the WWII Memorial in Washington this morning with a D-Day vet. Long-time family friend who came down from Rochester. At 11:00 AM, Taps was played and vets of the 82nd Airborne gathered at the European Theater section and saluted as an Army honor guard stood at attention. Days like this make me thank God to be an American....
  11. It will happen. Mayor Tony has the votes. Cropp merely grandstanding. And this new "plan" of hers will crumble. Look for the Nationals to reveal season ticket plan information later today.
  12. Got one on e-bay last year...with the blue facemask. They actually rolled that insignia out in 1974 and went with the blue facemask in '78 I believe.
  13. Spurrier stayin' put
  14. And the absolute worst, as I've said many times, is Jim "ALL RIGHT MI-A-MI!!!!!!!" Mandich. Like teeth down a blackboard....
  15. It seems like the coffin-corner kick is a lost art in today's NFL...Moorman's punt was a real gem. But where was the coffin-corner kick on opening day vs. Jax when the Bills most needed it? Remember Jax started their winning drive from their 20 after a short middle-of-the-field punt. Why Moorman dropped that turd in the middle of the field sticks in my craw to this day, as if you can't tell.
  16. Congratulations Dallas...you lost to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
  17. "I was coming home on the subway...packed in like sardines we was. It was dark, no lights...hot, no fan...and I was pressed up against this 300 pound EYE-talian, half of which smelled like pure garlic."
  18. "Now don't nobody go saying anything about Sammy Davis's glass eye."
  19. My Bledsoe jersey does the same thing...it's well big enough, but when I put it on, it's very constricting and it effects both my forward and lateral movement. I can walk backwards when I wear it, but whenever I try to avoid oncoming pedestrians, I cannot move forward or side-to-side. Strange.
  20. Go with this one: There is no other choice
  21. The NFL has played loosely with the "75 mile rule" in recent years. Viewing areas are now measured more or less by general proximity and not 75 miles from a certain stadium. For example, a couple of years ago, the Bills wanted Syracuse included in their "home viewing area" and conveniently found a slice of land within 75 miles of RWS and "within" the Syracuse viewing area. Thus, Syracuse is now a Bills viewing area. Of course, this doesn't mean the Bills, or any other team, may not trot out the "75 mile" decree when it sees fit. In the end, you will get the game(s) your "local" team wants you to see, sellout or not.
  22. CHARLIE GIBSON: "Well, well said, Curt and Shonda. You both have certainly lifelong membership now in the Red Sox nation. It was a great thing to watch, and I think everybody – whether they were great Red Sox fans or not — had to admire what this team did. It was extraordinary, and one of the great stories of sport. And sport always produces such great stories. Curt, Shonda, great to have you with us. Congratulations." SCHILLING: "And make sure you tell everybody to vote, and vote Bush next week."
  23. I'm still trying to decipher this...
  24. Criqui had one good line: "The wind was so fierce coming from the west this morning, that when I went out to get the Buffalo News, the Sacramento Bee was on the doorstep." Criqui, I believe, has done more NFL games than anyone, after Pat Summerall. His closest competition could be Dick Stockton. He was NBC's number two guy for ages and I think with a seasoned partner, and Tasker is becoming one, he's as good as anyone. He's getting a little long in the tooth, but he makes up for it with zingers like the one above.
