  1. Can't believe you forgot to mention the Legend.
  2. The Bills are thinking outside the box on safety. They are stocking up on big DBs. If our other safeties cannot get the job done, one of them will. Take a look at this undrafted FA DB the Bills just picked up from UB. Derek Brim #15
  3. Bills picked up UB Bulls DB Derek Brim. This kid can play! Keep an eye on #15. Highlight reel. After watching this, I thought he might be able to play safety. Kid loves to tackle.
  4. I like your handle LabattBlue. But really? The Bills have just built perhaps the most dominant offensive line in the NFL and picked up one of the most dynamic receivers to come out of the college ranks over the last 5 years. And you don't think that is a win now mentality? Not sure what more you could ask for out of a draft. As for "Oh, my groin hurts Johnson" and "The Bills can't pay me enough to stay here, Byrd", the Bills did what was best for the team. Sit back, have another beer(if that isn't strong enough, try the Blue Royale....it's awsome!!) and wait to see how this plays out. I think you may be suffering from the withdrawal symptoms and it ain't from the beer.
  5. First three passes to Sammy and just when they start to double him, a bomb to Flash. And when they start sending too many people into coverage, pound the rock.
  6. Well, interesting idea, but you can never let yourself get pigeon-holed into something. For instance, moving from #9 to #3 is really not all that costly. However, what if you are moving from #30 to get to that #3 spot? I kind of liked Whaley's comments. He said he would do whatever he can to win now and really, that's not likely to be the same thing every time. This year had a lot of talent at OT and WR. Another draft may have more talent on the defensive side of the ball. In one draft, the guy they want won't make it to their pick and they'll need to trade up. Another draft it could be more beneficial if they move down. Just compare last year's draft to this. Both years, I think good decisions were made to put talent on this team.
  7. Wanted a 4-3 DE. Other than that, pretty happy. Really liked the attention to the OL and our new WR. We are going to see a noticeable difference in offensive production and special teams.
  8. My hatred for the Pats is just too overpowering. I want to stay in the division and smoke Brady before he retires.
  9. The Bills will be going for it on 4th and short.....I like it!!
  10. I know. They said he is not ideal. What has he done? Only given up like 1 sack in 2 years, but he isn't ideal.
  11. And if Spikes ends up being a locker room cancer? I'm not sold on Spikes. He seems to be a me first kind of guy until he proves otherwise. And who says, Schwartz doesn't run a hybrid? We haven't even seen what he will run on this team.
  12. Call me crazy. I'm on the "definitely do not add a QB" to the mix list. I like who we have over who is left in this draft, anyway. I'd rather see us address other areas. I want a complete football team and not a team that can't do squat unless they have a 5000yd/yr QB.
  13. crap....there goes Martin.
  14. If they take C/G Marcus Martin, he can play Guard and be a Backup for Eric Wood.
  15. Joe B. thinks it could be Marcus Martin....he may be on to something.
  16. I am torn. My guess is that there will be someone the Bills covet and has a good chance of falling to them at 9. Who they covet as a player though is the question. I don't think it is a TE or WR. If I am gauging Whaley correctly, it will be an impact player on either the OL or DL. That could be a tackle, DLman, LB. My guess is that the Bills may be looking at moving up if one of those players is still available at say the #5 spot and actually trade up. Oakland needs a lot of help and could be looking for extra picks. Maybe the Bills get a top rated LB like Mack or one of the dominant OTs, in a trade up. If the guy they really covet is gone before that, no trade up. So looking at staying at #9, I can see Buffalo still sticking with the game plan of OT, DL, LB. It just won't be the one they covet the most. Now the trade down scenario is a bit different. They may not have to go for the most impactful lineman. They may then go with skill positions first like WR or TE first and then address the lines. Depends on how the draft plays out. I just don't think the Bills really feel the TE or WR position is something you address top 10 in the NFL. This is dominant linemen and franchise QB territory. Skill positions can be addressed in mid rounds and later in the 1st round. I know a lot of people are looking for the next Jimmy Graham or Andre Reed but the likelihood of hitting is too great with your top ten pick. You need to be sure you are putting the most dominant men in the trenches before you go looking for this kind of player. Plus, the lines on this team have greater weaknesses on this team, especially at RT and LB. TE and WR are not as weak.
  17. Maybe they trade with Oakland. Then your 3-2-2-1 scenario doesn't even matter.
  18. Buffalo is going to be the best running team in the NFL this year. Both CJ and Freddy in a contract year. They are going to be a handful healthy too.
  19. I think Marcus Martin is a damn good lineman. He's the best center in the draft, just like Eric Wood was and he can play guard too. This could very well be our second rounder. He would be great insurance in case Wood goes down and he would also likely be a starting guard this season. This would put some good depth on that OL. I am beginning to think the Bills may be picking something other than OLman in the 1st round. If they decide to wait until the 2nd round for OL help he could be it. If you only have one weakness on the OL they may be able to get away with what they have at RT by using TEs, RBs chip blocking. I'd rather have a good RT, but this would not surprise me.
  20. I don't know, John W. While I respect that you have been around for a while, I also know from years of experience that judging character is far from an exact science. I also believe that EJ, especially given his age, surely will need need to mature. That's pretty much a given for any young man. So, no knock on you for your opinion. I do believe though that there is more to it. This is a competitive sport and the great ones have absolute faith in their own abilities. Accepting failure is simply not an option. In his eyes "You take a fall...you pick yourself up and simply try harder next time". What you don't do is wallow in self pity nor do you put too much effort into picking apart your shortcomings. To EJ, he wants to keep moving forward. So when you say he is unwilling to accept criticism, in his mind he has all ready moved on from whatever mistakes he has made and now is eager to get better. Having to answer your questions might even be a bit annoying for him. I wouldn't say that is a real issue with his maturity. It's more a matter of just getting used to being put on the spot like that....in front of the press...and cameras rolling...when you are in you first real job where being professional is very important. He's only human, like you and me.
  21. Who would want Lewan over Matthews? Just curious, because I have not seen anyone with that opinion.
  22. Don't forget that the league outlawed the wedge blocking Buffalo used to do so effectively. When they did that and moved the ball forward on kickoffs, they effectively killed whatever advantage the Bills used to have on special teams.
  23. I see there are a lot of people here who still think RT is not as important as LT. Pay attention! NFL teams are no longer putting their best pass rusher opposite the LT. This just isn't done anymore unless that also happens to be the opposing team's weak link. The heat is coming every bit as much from the other side now a days. Not only that, teams are designing all kinds of exotic blitz packages in an effort to attack an offenses weakest spot. You can no longer get away with putting Joe Schmoe from down the road at RT. You can't even get away with what used to be considered a good tackle there. Offenses need two great tackles if they want to have any chance of getting some production out of their QB. I know, there is always the argument for a QB who can do what Brady or Manning does. Good luck with that. We have a guy who is just entering his second season and I don't see that changing unless he really takes a crap this year. Bottom line......we need to protect what we have, a QB who needs some time to develop and then give him as many weapons as possible. There is no doubt RT is going to be addressed. Turning one of last year's weakest positions into one of our strongest will go a long way on this team.
  24. Very nice. I always thought Marv was a great motivator. That quote is pretty well known around here.
  25. Kyle Williams is over 300Lbs and gets lower than nearly every DLman in the NFL. He is quick and he gets better leverage than his opponent on nearly every play. Security, you listen too much to the ramblings of TBD posters. He doesn't need to be bigger because he absolutely does dominate at that position. Having a 10 sack season at as a defensive tackle is a far cry from "gets dominated almost all game long except for guessing right a few times". You crack me up.
