  1. Whitner is solid... but you don't pay top $$ to solid. Poz is average and not highly regarded. Again, you don't pay Poz what Jax paid for being average. You nailed it when you stated the Bills did not adequately address filling the voids those two left. That has definitely been the Bills method of operation... cut JP and replace with Edwards. Get draft pix for Peters and replace him with Bell. Cut Teague, which was ok, but replacing him with Hangman, someone who was as bad, was typical. I've stated it more than once... it's not the so much the fact that the Bills cut or let players walk ... what is totally incompetent, irresponsible, and reprehensible, as you suggest, is not filling those voids with players AS GOOD or BETTER than what they let go.
  2. What if?? 49ers FA FS Gholdson isn't going to be franchised again. Seeing how the niners paid top dollar for him last year (F-Tag) and they need to fill the void if they lose him to free agency this year, might they entertain negotiating a deal for Byrd's services? I mean they've got to fill that hole with a competent FS if Gholdson leaves. Bills have the right to match any offer Byrd gets from another sutior. If they decline, that team would have to give up two number ones to the Bills. However, no team would do that. But there has been a case or two in which the two teams involved agreed on lesser compensation and negotiated a single #1 pick. If something like this were to be considered between the Bills and niners, the first rd. Pick that the niners would potentially give up is #31. Essentially a borderline 2nd rd. Pick... and it has been rumored they have too many picks and would like to shed some, plus with their talent it is unlikely they' garner an immediate starter at #31. And, after trading Alex Smith, it should clear enough cap space for them to accomodate Byrd. And, I would think that Byrd would be ecstatic about leaving the Bills to go to a Super Bowl favorite. Just sayin.
  3. Point noted re. 5th & 6th rounders in a general sense. But, if Carder & Asper were lighting it up somewhere else you'd have a case for cutting those two. Gotta chalk this up to a GM who has no business being one... or even a head scout. The game passed him by 10 years ago.
  4. Take a look around obd. Is buddy a good fit? No. He's old school and probably has never had one single thought outside the box. The youth movement has begun and the sooner buddy moves on, the better.

  6. The players you mention have been significant pieces to their teams and figure into their plans going forward long term So, there's motivation on their part to restructure. Fitz is just a placeholder for the next QB. I'd be stunned if he's on the 2014 roster.
  7. I'd be surprised if we didn't resign Carrington and Darias. Wood? Tough one. He can't stay healthy, so I'd have to say he's less than 50-50. Hopefully his heir will be on the roster by training camp. Chandler? Adios. Bills are going to move to a TE that can stretch the field.
  8. That's just the defense. He got nothing from the 5th round on in last years draft on a 6-10 team. Doesn't look like Easley is going to pan out and Johnny White was a wasted pick. I don't know how much input each coach had in drafting players, but if it was considerable they did they sure did a s#it job a developing
  9. Yes, but he didn't mean it that way. His head coach knows what his capabilities, character, value. A head coach doesn't presume from season to season that everyone starts from scratch. His staff reviews the season and grades them out and make recommendations. Obviously, through 4 coaches and 3 GMs and holding down a starting position in 9 of 10 seasons he would have a point.
  10. The needs on defense are clear. Bills need five new starters on defense. 1 LCB 1 NT ( A real one... Brandon Williams ?) 1 OLB 1 ILB 1 FS
  11. In Kelsay's interview he mentioned one considetation that hit a nerve with me... the part about having to adapt to another coaching staff and having to prove himself over snd over. He's been through 4 different head coaches in 10 years, 5 if you count Fewell and the best season he's seen is 9 wins and even that one ended on a sour note. I know it sucked as a fan, but damn, that has to eat on you as a player... especially putting your body through that. I can see why Levitre and Byrd after 4 years in Buffalo, and potentially for them looking at their third head coach, would like to explore other options. If you believe you've been on a path to nowhere, and entering your prime, you can't blame them for looking to get off that treadmill.
  12. Come on guys... he's in town for Kelsay's Retirement Party. Now that's class and respect. Show him some love.
  13. Andy is a solid... not spectaculer guard. His forte is versatility, a good pass blocker and durability. He is an average run blocker. When one places Andy at the $8m threshold, to me, that devalues guys like Hutchinson and Faneca. Levitre is not in that class. What I believe Andy's value to be, and I'll explain, is in the range of 4.5 to 5m. I'm thinking that if Andy left for more money (and that is rralistic), the Bills could fill his position in one of four ways and come out ahead. 1) Sign Slaussen in free agency. His price tag would be more in the 3-4m range and the Bills get bigger, a more physical and better run blocker, but do concede some level of pass blocking. 2) At #8 the Bills are going to have Cooper or Warmack available if they want. That fills the void and both have higher ceilings. 3) Draft a LT at #8 and move Glenn to LG. They get bigger at LG and more physical. 4) Move Hairston to LT and Glenn to LG. This is the "do you feel lucky" strategy. I throw this one in as an option because Hairston has shown flashes of pretty good play. He's also shown bad flashes. His hc was an o lineman and perhaps he can get him tp the next level. I really see option #1 as the best. It keeps the Bills in play for Bowe, Cook or Keller , Ellerbe, and Barwin in FA (they could land 2 of those 5), plus allows them to fill big holes at NT, CB, & QB in the draft. Signing Andy for $7-8m is really not a good value, especially considering this season is likely not to make the playoffs again this year.
  14. Suggs voted for Fitz to be the pro bowl qb after the 2010 season... Way down at the botton of the article. http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=8996273&src=desktop
  15. We don't no whether he is or is not. His offensive coordinators haven't been close to creative. I have a hunch the HC likes it that way and does not prefer to attack a defense very aggressively. From what I've observed, he runs a very good two minute offense. When he was allowed to be aggressive at BC, he was extremely effective and lit it up. But, as I stated, it seems to me he's been handcuffed with the Falcons
  16. It's as if someone cloned Ryan Leaf. In a lot of circles he's regarded as a total jerk
  17. The kid had the fastest time of the safeties, but faceplanted at the end (see link to video below). Except for his height, all of his numbers were top shelf. 5'8 7/8" 213 lbs, 28 reps @225, 40.5 bench press, 11' broad jump. kid led cuse with 85 tackles. He reminds me of Bob Sanders of the Colts a few years back. Except for his height, he is a Pettine type of safety. http://www.thebiglea...rce=top-modules
  18. Folks reading too much into the tea leaves. Does anyone believe he'd be going to Buffalo to get his a$$ kicked to the curb? Utter nonsense. Bills don't handle things like that He's probably reaching out to the new regime, which in many corners would be considered "class" , "professionalism", and a level of "engagement". Just a thought. Yeah... he sucked. I won't argue with that. But, how many on the team, and specifically the defense, haven't sucked over the past 5 years??? Pretty much 90% of them... as evidenced by the fact the Bills haven't ranked higher than 24th during that span. The dude ain't making a ton of coin. There were guys on this team that were starting, making a lot more $$, sand sucking just as bad or more than him. Merriman, Wilson, Barnett, Anderson, Mario, Kelsay, Kyle, Darius, McGee... they haven't exactly shown anything to get excited about.
  19. Let me see. The Pats have a hof qb that will be 36 when the season begins. He just re-upped for 3 yrs. Guaranteed which puts him at age 39. The perception is Mallett was drafted to be the heir apparent. Ok, after two years the Pats ate allegedly dangling him for a 2nd rd. Pick, in a year in which they only have 5 draft picks. Hmmm?????? Does anyone smell anything? Does it have the slightest smell that the Pats have given up on him as the heir apparent after two years? Geez, it took the Bills longer to figure that about Losman & Edwards. So, if Brady is done in three, and the Pats have RFA status on Mallet when his contract is up (2014), does that tell you something? I mean as in "we're gonna kick this kid to the curb when his contract is up, or sooner. We just want to get something of value for what we know has no value". Hey, don't blame us for trying, we got a 1 for Bledsuck and a 2 for cassel". This one don't even come close to passing the smell test. I don't want to touch it and I don't want to taste it.
  20. Let's get one thing straight. I may be passionate, but I do not "HATE", anyone... period. And,I take issue with anyone that suggests that when I express my opinion. I don't care whether the kid has surfed or not. It is a generic descriptive of a typical southern cal kid... laid back, sunshine, skateboading, surfing, volleyball, hoop, hangin at Venice Beach. Plenty of to do all the time... there's essentially only one season. And if you are the starting QB at USC, you are God... so sayeth the media and it is non stop hype and lauding that has rendered jack s#hit in the pros... that's a fact. Now, if you believe a kid growing up in that perfect environment is gonna come in to a blue collar, unglamourous town, where a day without a stiff wind is is abnormal, where the sun shines about a third of the time from where he came from, lake effect snow can pop up at anytime from late October on, averages about 35 degrees from December on, and somehow this kid with an average to slightly above average arm is somehow going to master all of that plus the intangeables necessary to be a franchise QB and become the football savior of Buffalo. Sure, great movie script. Submit that to Disney But, let's keep it real. Ain't gonna happen. And it wouldn't even happen in a dome.
  21. Folks just gotta get stop getting woodies over USC QBs. Any qb lining up under center at USC is hyped to the max no matter what. It doesn't matter who it is or how bad they really suck. Peete, Hayden, Marinovich, Johnson, Palmer, Leinart, Sanchez. For all their hype, none of them have accomplished much. And, Casell, although a backup at USC, did ok for one season in NE in relief of Brady... being highly managed, but melted like a snowball in August when he got a starting job... kinda like Rob Johnson. Fast forward to yesterday when Barkley got undressed by Mooch at the chalkboard... clear indication he knows all the things to say but can't deliver a whole lot when put on the spot. Can anyone one really see a california surfer boy actully suiting up in Buffalo in November... let alone December & January and firing pass after pass into 30 mile an hour winds while its snowing? I mean really... how can we make this stupid fantasy end.
  22. No, he's just culling players that he absolutely knows this team cannot win with. None of the players let go are not going to start anywhere or even compete for a starting job. Consider it addition by subtraction
  23. Seems to me a lot of info. But, what kind? Mis info? Or truth? The comment on Nassib... "maxing out on the mental aspects" WTF? The kids a gym rat, film junky, and an academic all american who graduated almost a year ago. Whoever came up with that gem clearly has his head up his a$$.
