  1. It's inconceivable that the Jets aren't taking a QB at 2, assuming they don't trade out, and if they were going to trade out, we would probably know about it already; I'm sure the Niners inquired, and probably others. I just cannot believe their new regime is going to roll out in 2021 with Darnold. It's gotta be a QB and, IMO, it's gotta be Wilson.
  2. Disagree. There are a host of reasons future picks are devalued, and you’ve only hit on one of them—the fact that the GM who trades for a future first round pick might never actually get to use it, although it’s a big one. Here are some others: 1. No one really knows how good the talent will be in any particular future draft. 2. No one knows how high or low the pick you are acquiring will be. These first two issues go away if you’re getting picks in THIS draft. Sometimes getting a future pick is better if the team trading it unexpectedly tanks, like Houston, but that uncertainty reduces the value of that pick NOW. 3. Most NFL teams want to get better now, not in a couple years. A guy you draft in 2023, especially if he’s a QB, might not be ready to really contribute until 2025. 4. Human nature. People rationally prefer to have something good now than in the future because who knows what the future will hold. 5. The market says future picks are worth less. That being said, for a team like Miami, which already has a ton of picks the next two years, it could make sense to spread out some of those picks into the future.
  3. At this point, I'd guess Watson will be taking some time away from football...No one is trading for him right now. No one.
  4. They did nothing to increase their draft capital with these moves. (They already had plenty.) And Watson is radioactive at the moment. No one is trading anything for him until there is some sort of resolution to his current "situation".
  5. Are you serious? Nothing Tua did last year would make anyone think that. And Wilkins "a stud"? Are you a Dolphins fan, cause I don't know many non-dolphins fans who would say either of those things.
  6. But it’s only a “problem” if the guys you picked played really well, otherwise you just decline the option. That’s why it’s a first world problem.
  7. I agree that they will probably be able to get their guy at 6, but they did not pick up a single extra pick this year in exchange for making a very significant move back in a loaded draft year. The only first round pick they got is two years down the road and is from a team that probably will finish pretty high in the standings. And I hate the Texans for single-handedly making Miami a pesky contender.
  8. Because they did not reap even a single extra pick this year from making substantial move back in a fairly loaded draft (not that they really need more pick this year, mind you).
  9. Exactly. And the QBs available this year are certainly comparable to what was available in 2018, so they have no excuse.
  10. Well, Miami's "haul" for dropping from 3 to 6 is looking even more paltry.
  11. That was different. It was an awful draft. Hope you enjoyed your Dion Jordan experience..😀
  12. You don’t think SF traded up for a QB?
  13. I know. They're f-ing stacked. I don't think Tua necessarily gets two more years to prove himself. If he doesn't show better this year, they could move on sooner than that.
  14. I get it--they're still probably going to get their guy at 6, but in 2018 the Colts got three second round picks from the Jets to drop back from 3 to 6. And the third they got this year is a comp pick, more like a fourth rounder, really.
  15. I suspect so, either in the first or second round. But they don't have the ammunition to move up very far.
  16. My issue is that a first round pick two years from now (especially from a team like SF) is not worth very much. It's not like getting an extra first this year.
  17. How did they "clean up"? They got a third round pick next year and a first round pick in 2023, which is worth less than a second round pick this year, to move from 3 to 6. The Jets traded three second round picks, including two in that year's draft, to move from 6 to 3 in 2018.
  18. Miami is doing a very good job of rebuilding, but if they're wrong about Tua, it could all be for naught. Thank God they weren't smart enough to draft Herbert last year.
  19. I'd be OK with Harris or Etienne at 30. I would NOT be ok with a trade up for them.
  20. Nope. The Jets would have traded that pick to SF if they weren't going to take a QB. I'm sure SF inquired.
  21. I don't think that's very good value. A first in 2023 is worth about a third round pick this April, and the Niners are likely to be picking late for the forseeable future.
