The draft is pretty much a crap shoot. Let's look at another team's pick. I think that most would agree that Baltimore is a good drafting team. Well in 2018, they took Hayden Hurst at pick #25. He was the first TE off the board that year. Well, two years later the Ravens liked Hurst so much that they traded him to the Falcons for a second-rounder. The Falcons declined his fifth-year option and he hit FA after his fourth season. He signed with the Bengals, which was lauded as a slam-dunk signing. Well, the Bengals liked Hurst so much that they didn't even offer him a contract after this season. He's now on the Panthers. That's four teams in six seasons for a guy that was considered to be a sure thing.

They are intent on giving Mac one last chance to secure the starting QB job before they have to pay him. This is year 3.

I can't keep track of this stuff. The NFL makes this as obtuse as possible to keep us engaged 5 1/2 months before the start of the season.

This is so true. I wrote a post back in January where I went and looked at multiple mocks from the Beane just to get a consensus of where guys that we drafted were predicted to go in terms of range. Bernard was the only reach, and that was only by a round. Nothing like BB reaching for Cole Strange.

Because a good football team that sells out every game only plays ax maximum 11 homes games a year. Let’ say the stadium holds 60,000. Even at 9 games that’s 540,000 a year. If a bad baseball team draws 15,000 a game. at 81 games that’s 1,215,000 a season. There is also a tradition of tailgating at football games that baseball games don’t have. I’m not saying that stadiums are a bad investment. But I am saying that NFL stadiums are a bad investment. At most, a team plays 11 home games. The worst baseball team plays 81 home games with a minimum of 15,000 tickets sold. Here in Cincinnati the Reds have a much more positive impact in the downtown economy even though the Bengals are SB contenders and the Reds are a last place team.

There is a stadium in downtown Cincinnati. It sits there like an albatross except for 8-9 times a year. The baseball stadium drives more traffic to restaurants and bars down even though the Reds have been bad for a decade.

As a fan of a team with a rich owner, the only thing that I care about in contracts are term and cap hit. I don’t care about the cash. It’s not my money.

I agree with this 100%. It’s also why I don’t understand why fans post combine stats for players with NFL film.

In a vacuum, I don’t have any problem with what he tweeted. Maybe it was a bit hyperbolic, but he can express his opinion. Nobody in the NFL had Pacheco as a difference maker last year, including the Chiefs. They took a flyer on a fast small kid in the 7th and got lucky.

The type of fans that would post on an NFL message board in March also pay a lot of attention to the draft and probably had him highly rated coming out of ‘Bama.

This is a strong draft for TEs and a weak one for almost every other position.

We focus on Gronk and Kielce as pass catchers, but they are also both really great blockers. It adds to them as weapons because they can block and release and it’s believable.

Teams with franchise QBs have multiple windows. This one feels like it’s closing. It’s just frustrating to see other teams taking big swings and the Bills more or less running it back.
