I agree with all of this. It does seem like the #1 qualification for becoming an NFL coach is having a father who was an NFL coach. I mean the Bills have a Shula and a Shurmur on staff. But Thad Lewis' experience in the NFL consists of two years as an assistant WR coach and one year as a QB coach. I would think that a few more years as an actual position coach would be necessary before getting an OC position. So I think that it would take one heck of an interview for him to get the job.

Come to think of it, this might actually be an interview for QB coach. There will be a new OC in Tampa so there could be some shake-up in the position coaches.

They are using a completely unqualified candidate to satisfy the Rooney Rule. They're giving the job to Joe Brady.

I think it is the best opening this year. #2 pick, lots of other high picks, mountains of cap space and a clean slate with a patient owner. Even their fans don’t expect to win right away.

I think that some of you people want to make the team as miserable playing games as you are watching them. You need a surrogate yeller.

There is no way that Joe Brady stays here in a reduced role. He’s getting HC interviews. If the Bills don’t keep him, he’ll get one of the 14 current OC openings pretty quickly. Ken Freaking Dorsey has interviewed in Cleveland and Philadelphia.

FWIW Kliff with a K has already interviewed in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

Consider the source. Lombardi was the GM of the Cleveland Browns from 2013-2014 and his son was the OC in Las Vegas until McDaniels was fired. He's salty. "If only they had given us the time, we could have shown 'em!"

First of all, there is nothing in that story that is news. We've known this since the end of the game. Secondly, he took a one-year "prove it" deal. He proved it. Now a bad team with cap space will overpay. It's the circle of life.

There is a lot of competition at the OC position right now. First of all, 8 teams will have new HCs and presumably new staffs. Then you add in the Bills, Steelers, Eagles, Bengals, Browns, and probably the Lions. That's 14 openings for promotion to OC. I mean, Dorsey is out there getting interviews.

Not just in the media. Around here too. You'd think that football was a tag team wrestling match between HCs and QBs. And the people who say that injuries are not an excuse drive me mad too. Then why do we pay so much attention to FA and the draft if talent doesn't matter?
