I'm a big fan of rusty nails. Scotch and Drambuie. It is surprising how many bartenders these days don't have a clue how to make a proper classic drink though. I usually have to explain how to make it. Even an old fashioned or manhattan will draw a blank stare once in a while.

A very small amount of water in scotch is supposed to open up some of the flavors. If you are in Scotland, scotch is served with glass of local spring water, ideally the same water that was used to make the scotch. I don't know the science behind it.

I was going to get the whiskey stones. I may end up trying them out if the big ice balls melt too quickly and water down the drinks a lot.

Laphroaig is extremely peaty. Usually the only people I see drinking it are hardcore scotch drinkers!

I just picked up a bottle of Four Roses Small Batch bourbon at the recommendation of a friend. I've been primarily a scotch guy but I'm looking to branch out a little. I'm looking for some recommendations and curious if the majority take it neat, with water, or ice. While at the liquor store I grabbed an ice cube mold that makes large ice spheres that melt slower than small cubes and looks pretty damn cool. I usually just go neat or with a dash of water, but I can put my balls in guest's drinks if they request it. I was just reading an article on the Kean University protests and it focused on the threatening racist tweets that were received. It made me wonder if it is possible that the anonymous tweets could have been sent from someone that was sympathetic to the protester's cause. I have seen no indication that this is the case, but who has more to gain from these tweets? Some ignorant racist or the supporters of the protest? I had not heard anything about Kean University until these tweets came to light. I want to make it clear that I would never condone racist threats and I hope they track down whoever posted the threats and expose them for whatever they are, but if you were hoping to bring attention to your cause, what better way to get some major media attention than an anonymous threatening tweet? If it isn't the case in the Kean University protest, what prevents future protests from employing this tactic. This was a great night with the North Jersey Bills Backers. We had fun interacting with Jets fans and had a great tailgate. Bills fans were abundant and loud. Great game!
