1. Would you have read the damn article if I had removed the name and given a better response than this?

I'm not elevating Krugman.  I'm posting his point in the hopes of receiving some more intelligent responses than yours.  Guess my hopes were too high.

What does it say that contractors -- who are getting paid ample amounts of money to get Iraq going, who are being given the jobs without competition, and who are for all intents and purposes arms of the administration -- are leaving without finishing the job, after all the money they are spending (wasting?).  The failure to build an infrastructure that works there rates high among the reasons we're in the shitstorm we're in right now.  And you want to dismiss it because you don't like the messenger?

How many more people need to go on the ignore list around here?

    823711

Oh no! someone who gets their news from the opinion page of the Times is going to ignore me. My life has no meaning any more!

  2. Say what you will about this lunatic's stunt but it is the final nail in the coffin of The Mighty Macaca Allen's once promising political career. There's no way he comes back from that.

For that we should all be thankful.

I think a lot on the left fail to realize that most Americans hate these whiney protesters who are looking to get arrested and press charges after exactly what they wanted happens. They are doing more harm than good for the left. The average American does not relate to these priveleged brats who have nothing better to do with their time than to disrupt any speech they don't agree with. Obnoxious people like this idiot protester are generally disliked by most people.

  3. A pretty salient commentary this time from Krugman/NYT:

    823683

You lost me at Krugman. He is as far left as you can get and I would bet is jumping for joy at any negative news out of Iraq. Yet another "American" who takes great joy in any percieved failure of America. He and the rest of the Times were probably sitting around waiting with anticipation for the 100th, 500th, etc. death so they could use it to slam the President. But hey, keep elevating those who wish our country harm.

  4. lack of rights

This is what bothers me most about you guys on the right: you so easily give up our rights to a republican administration.  If this were a democratic administration that was taking us down this path, that is so very difficult to come back from, you'd be leading the charge.  But because it's a the right that's breaking down the constitution, you guys are silent, or ambivalent.

Don't you agree DC Monkey Jumper?

    823540

When you take away a nations right to protect itself as most of europe has done(gun bans), you need to do much more to protect the helpless citizens from criminals. Please let me know what rights the evil conservatives have taken from you. Are you now unable to speak to your Arab terrorist friends overseas without monitoring? Are you unable to launder money as easily as before?

  5. Me again, the color wheel issue is from several years ago. If I recall first and 2nd gen. You may also read about fan noise, but again I think something from several years ago.

Someone in an earlier responce mentioned not setting on VIVID, which I agree with 100%. Not only will vivid setting burn your bulb quicker, but will also wash out a LOT of color, and lose a lot of details, at least it does on mine. I think this is a very common mistake, as most times I go to someone elses's house and the settings are WAY to high, and the picture just doesn't look as good as it could be, and thats on all flat panels, not just DLP.

I am having no issues with the bulb and I am coming up on 4 yrs use in FEB.

I will say however that I have read where people have a calibration done by a certified professional(forget the desingnation) and swear it makes the Samsung DLP absolutely scream. I set mine with that AVIA disk, but I am told there is no comparison.Think it costs bout $300, so I will be setting a appointement for one sometime round the beginning of the year, and I will have them replace the bulb at the same time

    821367

The ISF calibration is so expensive because they access many more settings within your TV. You cannot acess these settings yourself without voiding the warranty. I am debating paying the $ for the ISF calibration on the Sony SXRD I just bought. The picture is amazing now, but like others said, I guess it gets even better.

  6. Way I look at it, Dems can't lose. They win they win, if they somehow lose and the GOP is still in power that's fine leading up to 2008. The Republicans have proved they cannot govern in any competent manner. What are they gonna do? Cut more taxes? 2008 will be a slaughter if Dems lose on Tuesday. Would probably be a good thing for Dems, actually

    822618

It is really sad when you have to convince yourself that all your losses are actually victories. How will you spin the loss in the presidential election? "This will set us up for 2012!"

  7. Tim Russert was just on Hardball reporting that the gap between people who think the Southern Party--the GOP--and Democrats is 15 points. 52% Dem 37% Southern Party.

That's the largest its ever been according to him. It was only 6 points in 1994! We are seeing a rejection of the Deep South in this election.

And why didn't the GOP try to pass an amendment banning abortion?

    822601

The pollsters did a great job of predicting a solid victory for Kerry in the presidential election too!

  8. Sorry, I'll be more specific....

I'm making the trip from Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada) with three of my friends (two Bills fans and one Packers fan who I plan to beat up in the parking lot as a sign of solidarity with my fellow Bills fans).

Seeing as it's my first game ever, what's the protocol for game day?  Do people head right to the parking lot and just start drinking?  Can you bring alcohol to the parking lot?Are there places to get food around the stadium.  Man, I am so excited...

We get into town on Friday night and we're at the Hampton Inn I billieve.  What are the best watering holes in Buffalo?

Oh yeah:  Bills 36 - Packers 24.  WOOO!

    820984

That's a good one! There will be plenty of people grilling if you are good at making friends. Stop by the Carolla lot next to the Jim Ball billboard if you want some wings. We have 2 bills flags and an American flag flying and a big blue tent. Have fun at your first game!

  9. They could settle this very quickly by requesting the guy take a polygraph test. If he happens to agree to it, ask him about the events laid out in the story one by one. If he refuses you know he is lying. Of course his slimy lawyer would never allow this to occur, because there is obvious embelishment on the part of the poor victims who now want to sue the Bills organization. I have seen many fights where the loser goes from a willing participant to a poor victim shortly after the fight and presses charges or sues. Both sides should probably be punished and charged with a crime.

I wonder how much of a cut the journalist and photographer get if the guy wins his lawsuit? That church picture with the sad posed looks is priceless!

  10. Nice apology Kerry. Hold a press conference and not even address the issue of your comments. Then say, you never said exactly what you said, when a reporter asks a question. All he had to do was come out calmly and explain his comments and how he can understand that they could be misconstrued.

Way to go extreme and make up the minds of probably a good number of Republicans that were leaning to vote Democrat this election. You reminded them today why they don't vote Democrat. Dumbass.  :pirate:

    821248

He should have had Kelly the dog explain it at the press conference!

  11. Man, that radio station really does have you brainwashed doesn't it?

Liberals don't hate those words - they hate when they are used exclusively to describe people who agree with you.

    821214

I guess I didn't realize the station's full name was "We're Patriots and you aren't". A Conservative claiming to be patriotic is not an indication of your lack of Patriotism. It is funny how defensive the left gets when the issue of Patriotism comes up.

  12. Chevy is trying to pass off the "We're the American spirit, buy us and our great American workers will keep this country great for generations" feeling.

They're using negative images of people like Rosa Parks and others to try to show that they truly are the American patriot's choice.

Yeah, GM, because if I buy your car that means that I'm a Patriot, much the same way listening to that radio station does.  :(

    821143

We should probably ban the word "Patriot" and "Patriotism" because it seems to offend Liberal Americans!

  13. The point is he never spoke about the troops. He was briefly campaigning at Pasadena City College for the CA gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides in front of 370 students concerning educational reform. His whole speech, if you could call it that, was a series of jokes and one liners, where the students treated him like he was a rock star. He started talking about surfing, and then said he was just in the state of Texas, "Where the president used to live - now he lives in a state of denial." After a bunch of laughs he said you should try hard in school and get ahead or "you will get stuck in Iraq", a bad joke about Bush. Not the troops.

Yes, it was stupid. Yes, Kerry says stupid things. No, he did not say or imply that the troops were lazy and stupid. It only showed that you were lazy and stupid.

    http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/news/ci_4578034

    821110

What in that article should make me reconsider my initial reaction to the statement? Just because he was telling jokes during the speech doesn't make it any less insulting. Contrary to what you may believe, just because you are surrounded by college libs and other Dems doesn't mean you can say anything you want without repercussions. That line was not about Bush, it was clearly aimed at the military.

  14. Kerry is no stranger to lies about our soldiers. He lied when he said our trooops killed civilians in Vietnbam and tortured people there. Our soldiers are extermely professional and all those lies Kerry told change that not at all. The whole antiwar crowd cost us victory in Nam. We had it won but the media lied aboiut the truth. Now the Vietnmese government kills and tortures everyday fore the thrill of it. People like Kerry are sickining. The thought that he might have become president terrifies me. Amerioca would have been in deep, deep trouble had he won. Terrorist attacks would probably have shut down the airline induistry and americvan city or two would be gone and Iraq would have been abandoned to terrorists. Thank god real Americans--PATRIOTS!---Won in 2004

    821105

Carefull...You don't know what the context was when he was insulting our troops. He was probably just joking or directing it at the President. I am simply an idiot for thinking a statement like "work hard in school or you will get stuck joining the military" is horribly disrespectfull of our soldiers. Just ask Kelly if you would like to know if it is OK to be insulted by a statement.

  15. It really doesn't matter what he said, although I did look up the incident and saw what he said, what he was doing when he said it, and what else he said. You're an idiot because you took a ten second sound-bite that you knew nothing about and extrapolated it to say that Kerry said that all of the troops were lazy and uneducated. That makes you an idiot regardless of how idiotic what Kerry said was, and it was pretty stupid.

Besides, he was probably talking about Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld and Halliburton. He said, "You will get stuck in Iraq." :(

    821065

I see you went to Lib U for your debating skills. Call someone stupid with no facts to back up your argument. If you can explain to me how I missunderstood a very straight forward statement let me know. If you want to sling insults because I'm an evil conservative, save it for someone who cares what you think.

  16. If you don't know what the speech was about, where he was, what he was doing there, what the rest of the speech was, what the context was, what he actually said about the entire concept, and then spewed what an idiot he was for saying a ten second sound bite, you're a bigger idiot than he is.

It was pretty easy to read up on, by the way.

And John Kerry is very often a total idiot, one of the great hole-diggers of all-time, an abysmal candidate, and an allegedly smart guy who says incredibly stupid things all the time.

    821036

By all means explain to me how I took his quote out of context since I am such an idiot. When someone says you will end up in the military if you don't work hard and study, I would tend to think he is putting down our soldiers as dumb and lazy.

  17. Many of the full-time enlisted military signed their papers because it really was the best option for them.  It doesn't mean they don't deserve respect, it just means that an MBA from Georgetown is probably not in the cards for them.  There probably are quite a few high school dropouts serving in Iraq right now, who chose the military because it was the best option for them to make a living.  It's not unreasonable to think that if they could go back and choose between passing Pre-Calc or patrolling the streets of Ramadi, they might attempt to apply themselves a bit more.  At the same time, I'm sure there are plenty serving in Iraq who wanted to get their GED and enlist in the military immediately, because that's what they've always wanted to do.

I'm not saying Kerry ISN'T an idiot.  I'm just trying to read between the lines a little, like you did when you assumed he meant all soldiers are lazy and stupid.  I think what he was saying was, military service is an extremely honorable profession, but don't put yourself in a situation where you have no other options.  A kid who does well at school and wants to go to Georgetown, but can't afford it, might look at the military and the GI Bill as a way to make that happen.  But a kid who drops out of school because he thinks he has all the answers may have to choose between the gas station and Fallujah.  Don't put yourself in a spot where you have no options.

    821034

I see your point, but he could have just as easily have said the students who don't work hard or study will be stuck working at Mc Donalds if he was simply talking about options after school. He chose to pick on the military and made it very clear that the people who CHOOSE to go to the Military are the lazy students or the ones who got poor grades. Our Military is currently all volunteer. If you don't like the GI bill option, get a few part time jobs while working through college.

  18. I didn't know it was right-wing.  Talk radio, sort of "Rush Limbaugh all day, every day"?

Only reason I asked was that I was just getting prepared for a round of power vomiting upon finding out that "Patriot" has yet again been coopted to mean "If you're not a member in good standing of our party, you're just un-American."  :(  Being a Republican doesn't make you a patriot, it makes you a !@#$ing Republican.

    821011

If you want to debate the name of a radio station, start a new topic. I don't care what party you belong to, if you do not find Kerry's speech to be insulting and idiotic, something is wrong with you.

It's funny how a lot of libs will point out that the military is filled with the poor and uneducated, yet the average education level and family income level of our military personell is higher than the overall average in America.

  19. You lost me at "Patriot Channel".  What the !@#$ is the Patriot Channel?  :(

    820999

It is a channel on Sirius radio. I know it is right wing, but the speech was recorded and played on the channel. They were not misquoting him or drawing their own conclusions. I would link to the speech, but I am unable to access it from this computer. Look up Bill Bennett's morning in America if you would like more info.

  20. I just heard a part of John Kerry's speech at a school recently (not sure which one). They played it on Patroit channel on Sirius. He said that if you work hard and study hard you can succeed and do whatever you want in life, if you don't study and work hard you will end up in Iraq. I didn't realize that our soldiers were just the dropouts and lazy kids! I would imaginge most families have at least one person who served in the military that they feel is deserving of respect. This speech is one of the most disgusting insults I have ever heard. I wonder how Cindy She-man will feel about her hero calling her dead son a lazy moron?

This should end Kerry's political career, if the media choose to show it.

  21. Get a clue and re-read my statement. I have been supporting both of these teams as long as i could walk. I can spend my $$ however the Hell I want to. If I have a choice to attend a Sabres game over the Bills and decide to do so, I will. That makes me no less of a Bills fan. Have fun spending your money on crap and continue to see zero changes.

Have you had season tickets since day one of the rock pile? Didn't think so - Next......

    817857

So if I buy a dolphins ticket I am a fan? Do us all a favor and take your tired rhetoric over to the Sabres board. It's the same thing in every post..."Sabres are great, Bills suck and don't try, I'll spend my $ elsewhere". We get it, you don't like the Bills anymore.
