  1. Dude, all I want to hear is someone in law enforcement tell me what their protocol is when there are three officers and one unarmed assailant. I'm sure that my ignorance, naivete, foolishness, and whatever else I'm exhibiting can be solved pretty quickly...I just want to know what they are trained to do in this sort of situation.

They may not want to get into a fight with a possible drug addict due to the distinct possibility of blood transfer. I know that doesn't answer your protocol question.

  2. http://www.buffalobills.com/facility/ParkingLots.jsp

In that lot, all the traffic generally gets directed back out Drive 2 onto Abbott, and must turn right. However, there is a trick I learned from someone the first time I parked there. You can cut through to parking lot 6, and go out Drive 7, onto Big Tree Road. (You can't come in the same way, because you wind up on the wrong side of the ticket takers for Drive 2, and would have to pay twice.) Just be careful not to "pull a Marshawn" while cutting through to parking lot 6. There are many people walking who aren't expecting cars to be driving there.

We started taking that shortcut last year and it saved a lot of time and hassle.

  3. I have a chance to take my wife away for the night with no kids. Does anyone know a good overnight get away. I was looking for something around the Rochester area since I have to drop my oldest step sons car off to him in Canadagua. Any help will be greatley appreciated.

The Inn On The Lake is very nice in Canandaigua. They have an outdoor bar and as the name implies, it is right on the lake. Nice rooms and restaurant too. The Culinary Center is right next to the Inn and has some interesting seminars and tastings.

Allen Wilson talks up the Bills in the article as to how this is the most talented team Jauron has put on the field, but when you get down to the season prediction, it says the Bills will go 5-11 and finish third in the AFC East.

I really don't care about people's predictions, but it was surprising to me because the tone of the article would lead you to believe he would have more optimism for the coming season, then he drops that bomb at the end of the article.

Although, thinking about it now, it does say Sporting News prediction--maybe its not his personal prediction?

I didn't know Marshal Faulk was writing predictions for the Sporting News.

  5. I don't want anyone to think I was badmouthing hunting. I wasn't. I was just trying to make a point. Hell I've been hunting and in fact, gator huntin'. I was just trying to make a point and used that as an example.

I heard aligator meat is tasty. Never tried it.

  6. FWIW- I also am a hunter. I don't buy any red meat throughout the year until after I run out of venison. It's much healthier than beef and I think it tastes better. It also is a naturally occurring, managed resource. If you live in Buffalo you know there is no shortage of deer. People will find out one of these days that their meat doesn't magically show up on a styrofoam plate. And if fuel prices keep rising at the rate they have been, that time is coming sooner than later...

Have you seen "I am Legend"? If the SHTF deer hunting skills will be very usefull! (Along with a good zombie killing strategy!)

  7. Look I'm not going to keep arguing with you, I don't have any personal beef with you. You win. I lose. Are you happy?

I like posting here and enjoy reading a lot of the posters on here. I've been doing it for 8 years now. I have yet to make any enemies and I'm not going to start now. If you don't agree with me or like me then thats fine. I can live with that.

    Fair enough.

  8. Umm, you brought up hunting first I was just elaborating on a comparison you had made. And yes, yes you are correct that is my position. I feel it is completely fine to hurt the environment as long as you don't complain about it. You're pretty sharp for picking that up. Did I hit a nerve with the hunting thing?

Are you high right now, because you seem to have forgotten what you typed a few minutes ago.

"To answer your question though, I do live in a decent sized place and maybe I do use more electricity then is needed BUT what I don't do is B word about the price of electricity. I take responsibility for my A/C and washer dryer bills and never complain."

And yes, you did hit a nerve with the hunting comment. Do a little research and you'll find that the hunters you are mocking contribute more money and time to environmental conservation than all the journalists and internet bloggers that sit back and make fun of the truck drivers "goin huntin".

  9. None of waste is okay.

Some people however, choose to not just throw their hands up in the air and say " it I'm goin' huntin'" Now that, my friend, is typical.

What does hunting have to do with your argument? Actually hunting is better for the environment than buying farm raised food. Hunters in general do more for the environment than all the whiney internet activists will ever think of doing.

Now if I'm understanding your position, it is OK to hurt the environment by wasting energy if you don't complain about the prices YOU are paying. You get bonus points if you call out others for wasting energy in ways that don't affect you.

I have nothing against people owning big houses and living the good life, I just find the hypocrisy very amusing when one of those people go after big bad pickup truck drivers.

  10. Speaking of "judging" what makes you think I'm a hippie? In fact I'm not even close.

To answer your question though, I do live in a decent sized place and maybe I do use more electricity then is needed BUT what I don't do is B word about the price of electricity. I take responsibility for my A/C and washer dryer bills and never complain. What I guess I failed to translate in my post is that the people who are bitching most about gas prices are the ones driving Yukon's. I think that is ridiculous and those people can do something about it but chose to whine instead.

I'm sorry if I came across as some hippie activist that was not my intention.

I must have missed the part where you were only directing this at people that are complaining about fuel prices.

"Exception of coarse to big families or those that need these trucks for work. Other then that though the average single guy or gal that drives a Hummer or Expedition is either an idiot or doesn't care about the effect they have on the economy or the world we live in."

So wasting gas makes me a planet killing idiot, but wasting other energy resources is fine? Awesome logic...and very typical.

  11. I own an Elite Pro150 FD (8th generation)60" plasma; my previous television was a Pioneer Elite Pro530--53" CRT Rear Projection. I used to sell this type of equipment. In terms of sheer black level CRT was the only technology that could produce "blacker than black" I got the Elite 60" plasma in Feb. from day one I was blown. For Christmas, I bough a TV for my parents, they wanted an LCD, 32-42" I bought a Panasonic...I forget the model. I was really enamored with the brightness and the true whites. The drawback was their off axis viewing. If you sat three feet off of center, the picture looked all washed out.

If you have the money get a Pioneer Kuro (9th generation are or are already out) That is the best video display on the market. Flat out hands down, one look (properly configured settings) and you will be hooked.

    GO GET ONE!!!!!

Now that sounds like a great TV!

  12. Except the increase in SUVs and Truck sales are a drop in the bucket when it comes to the price of a gallon of gas. But don't let the lack of factual information get in the way of hippy "lahjik".

If I win the lottery, I am going to pay some global warming hack scientist to "find" that patchouli oil is the cause of global warming. Can you imagine the uproar.

  13. http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzzlog/91472

"it now costs $100k to own and keep a similarly inefficient full size pickup running for five years."

I don't feel sorry for anyone who has a truck or SUV and is paying out the a** for gas. If you didn't have the foresight to see that the increase in SUV and Truck sales would effect the economy the way it has then you deserve what you get when you pay $80 to fill up your tank.

Exception of coarse to big families or those that need these trucks for work. Other then that though the average single guy or gal that drives a Hummer or Expedition is either an idiot or doesn't care about the effect they have on the economy or the world we live in.

Is your house/apartment any bigger than it absolutely has to be? Do you have unnecesary windows that leak heat? do you have air conditioning? If so then you must be an idiot too? Let's analyze your possesions and make stupid judgements. I certainly don't know your situation, but the "activists" and celebrities that shove their hybrid car in everyones face usually live in a big house (or several) and heat and cool much more space than is necessary. It is much easier to buy a small car and B word about the hard working guy who uses his pickup truck for occasional hunting/camping/tailgating trips than to make a change that affects your own lifestyle or comfort. I would love to be able to afford a small car for commuting and a truck for recreation, but unfortunately I don't have activist money.

I love being judged by a guy with a drug themed avatar!

  14. But also understand that there are other tailgate parties around you and keep the volume at a reasonable level so that you can hear it and it doesnt overwelm everybody else. Everyone around you wants to have their own setup as well, so dont come in and just overtake them.

In our section of Drive 5, we had two old guys come for two seasons, get out of their van and put techno music on speakers louder than the crap ones inside the Ralph. It was just the two of them... they certainly didn't need them that loud! We pestered them enough for the year that they moved spots next season.

We have dealt with the super loud "DJ" tailgates too. For some reason they think everyone wants to hear them make bad jokes and pretend to be Casey Casem. We bring a radio to listen to pre-game and we actually like to have conversations.

There have also been very courteous groups that set up away from the people that arrive before them and ask us if the music is too loud. At least anyone who parks close to them at that point knows that they are in for loud music. It sounds like Cajunbillsbacker has a large enough group that they take up a good amount of space and all agree on the festivities.

Most people I run into at the tailgates don't like the obnoxiously loud music that carries across half the lot. Play what you want at your tailgate loud enough to enjoy it, but let the rest of us pick our own music. Or find a spot where everyone enjoys your "entertainment".

  15. We do wings every game in the turkey fryer with Anchor Bar sauce and mix up the other entree. Venison tenderloin for the opener this year! Beer brats are always good if you have a big enough grill. Grill 'em and soak them in beer in a foil pan on the grill. We bought this grill last year and love it.

    http://www.bradsdeals.com/brinkmann-tailga...-pid-10057.html

It folds flat and has a ton of space to cook on. A canopy makes every tailgate better, especially in the rain or cold. We also have a heater that attaches to a propane tank that helps during the really cold games. For any single guys, women flock to the heaters! Flag poles are nice touch too.

  16. Actually, the deep-fried turkey is excellent fare for a tailgate. I would eschew the fried donuts, though, unless you want to have every cop in WNY at your tailgate.

One thing we've always done is try to match the food & drink to the visiting team, when possible. There are so many microbreweries out there making decent beer that almost every city has their own beer. So for the Jets - NY Strip Steaks, Manhattan clam chowder, NY cheesecake, New Amsterdam beer. For the 49ers - dungeness crab, sourdough bread, Anchor Steam beer, and plenty of Napa wine. For Miami - blue marlin and some sort of cuban cocktail, and so forth. Your crew will definitely appreciate a cup of hot New England clam chowder at that Dec. 28th game, along with a Sam Adams or Harpoon ale.

When all else fails, or you're pressed for time, or there's nothing unique about the visiting city's cuisine, you can't go wrong with 5 or 6 pounds of Scime's hot deluxe Italian sausage and some fresh rolls from Balistreri's - washed down with plenty of Flying Bison, of course...

    GO BILLSSS!!!!

    19 and 0 baby!!!!!

I tend to do the opposite. Absolutely no Sam Adams during Patriettes* games!

I'm going to try to get the wife to make * shaped cookies for the game and hand them out to any visiting NE fans. We will also be flying a * flag.

  17. On the Bills website, the Monday night game is listed as sold out. I wonder if this will boost season ticket sales even more? I think they are holding seats for those who buy seasons. How expensive do scalped tix have to be before it makes more sense to just buy the whole season?
