  1. Agreed. Vic used to emulate Felser and Kelley (and out of town, McDonough). The "old school" pros. Now he's more like Sully and the Buckster. Disappointing, but that's just the evolution of the job description... Edit: reminiscing about Will McDonough, this seems appropriate today: "His signature moment...was the infamous 1979 altercation with churlish Patriots cornerback Raymond Clayborn. Clayborn poked McDonough in the eye and scratched his face for allegedly intruding upon his locker space - then got decked by the two-fisted reporter. ''After that, he became a folk hero.'' says Vince Doria, the former Globe sports editor who is now vice president/ director of news at ESPN."
  2. Sorry if a re-post, but I haven't seen this in the thread as yet: http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2015/08/13/ik-enemkpali-new-york-jets-geno-smith-punch-buffalo-bills-coaches-nfl "...a member of the [bills] staff contacted a current Jets player who was in the locker room to get an account of what happened. According to the version some members of the Bills heard, Smith was mouthing off about the debt in the locker room, and Enemkpali told Smith to come over and say it to his face. Smith did, and put his finger in Enemkpali’s face, at which point Enemkpali slugged him."
  3. Not really. The Channel 4 sports director just got fired because he "wasn't opinionated enough." http://talkintv.buffalonews.com/2015/08/12/ch-4s-vesey-was-short-on-opinions-didnt-get-much-help-from-station/ Any attention JoeB can draw to himself is all good for his station and his career (not so much the fanbase)...
  4. Joe Namath saying Geno should not have put himself in that situation and he's glad IK got another opportunity "since he's not a bad guy" is the ultimate telling point...
  5. Don't forget to take your meds...
  6. 24 hours (or less) from now, no one will remember any of it... With the Bills front four, how many "splash" opportunities does he have per game? To a large extent, Shu stands out because he's so much better than his surrounding cast...
  7. Glad he caught on with the Steelers. I always liked Nelson and thought he could be a great move TE if he bulked up some. But unless he makes the team, he'll only be paid $1,800 per week for the next month, which isn't going to help the cause much...
  8. I keep reading "police officer" as in "uniformed police officer." The guy he punched was off-duty, undercover and working security at a bar (i.e., out of uniform). While you still can't condone the behavior, it's a LOT more understandable as to how/why it happened. And yet, a large segment of the media and most MB posters conveniently omit that distinction...
  9. Jests fans strangely quite about Broadway Joe's take on things: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-training-camps/0ap3000000509092/Namath-IK-is-a-good-player-not-a-bad-character
  10. Gotta love Tom Eoannou. He plays for keeps....
  11. But not the body to take the punishment....
  12. "Flashes shock and violence in his punch."
  13. He'll only get paid (a minimal $550k to boot) if he makes the team, so no harm in kicking the tires. I wonder if he still has practice squad eligibility...
  14. Bully for Rex...although the guy might not be cleared to play by the NFL for a while. http://www.profootballrumors.com/bills-claim-ik-enemkpali-waivers/
  15. Oh Rex!! You're a sly one...
  16. Ah, that takes me back. When I had my tix there were a group of 5-6 guys in the row ahead of us who were shitfaced every game and carried on like apes in a banana plantation. Eventually we got used to it and tuned it out. What's funny though is that after about ten years they actually began to pass out after halftime and weren't a distraction any more. They'd just sit there like stumps and would nod off during the sunny September and October games...
  17. All publicity is good publicity: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/learn-the-secrets-of-a-guy-who-s-traveled-to-all-122-professional-team-stadiums-130816901.html "Sean joined us for a chat on our twice-weekly Shutdown Corner podcast, and you can hear that right here. For instance, you can learn: • The best places to sit (and avoid) when buying a ticket. • The best places to purchase a ticket on the, shall we say, "secondary market" around the stadium. • Secret routes into and out of each stadium. • The best places to hang and have a drink before and after each game. • Which fans are the rowdiest and drunkest, which means you want to hang with them." The original story from 2014: http://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2014/08/bills_fans_drunkest_ultimate_football_road_trip.html Q: So it's not necessarily a bad thing that they were the drunkest fans? A: It was definitely not anything negative. Ralph Wilson Stadium came in higher than most people would put it. I was just trying to make my observation. I have had a number of people agree with me. The tailgating at The Ralph is just the best. It starts early. It started at 8 o'clock. I got there at 8:30 that day. I parked and already the tailgates were open, the beers were open. It was 8:30 in the morning. I thought, 'Wow these people are serious.' There's no pre-game party at The Ralph that sells alcohol because I think everybody just brings their own.

  19. I'm with you. After 8 pages, this thread is making me think of Abbot & Costello... www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTcRRaXV-fg
  20. "...Apparently, under Murphy's formulation, the subjective impressions of those making assault claims are sacrosanct—if alleged victims say they saw an encounter as unwelcome, it was assault. But the subjective impressions of the accused (i.e., the perception that consent had been obtained and sexual activity was welcome) are so insignificant that they shouldn't even be considered. Murphy seems to literally be arguing that the accused should get no right to a defend themselves because doing so might actually work." No more "he said, she said." Only "she said...."
  21. Ha! You wish... http://reason.com/blog/2015/02/26/wendy-murphy-vs-suny-affirmative-consent
  22. Agreed. PK's the only national guy I go out of my way to read, since I know there will be a ton of good quotes from his contacts and it won't be a 'hit and run' job designed to generate clicks...
  23. Who cares about FSU fans. This is where the action's at: http://www.talk-sports.net/nfl/sucks.aspx/EJ_Manuel
