  1. When we visit the in-laws in Ra-cha-cha we usually order from Pontillo's, and I think their wings and pizza are both pretty good.
  2. Amen. Don't forget the whispers that he was drinking during practice from his "special water bottle" -- that he's "gotta get his Goose on." He wanted to come into the league and show that young guys could come into the league and handle the physical, mental and maturity demands of playing in the NFL, thereby challenging the minimum draft age, but all he did was give the league more ammo to exclude young players. Nice article on his downfall, BTW. Sorry for continuing the hijack.
  3. I understand, I haven't "shopped the WNY sale ads" in a long time, so I don't know how the sale prices compare between Tops & Wegman's. Heck, until gas prices got so out of control we used to drive approx 100 miles to go to the Erie, PA Wegman's, while we still had Tops in town. Even with the cost of gas added in it was still a better deal than shopping in-town at Tops or Giant Eagle (plus the only formula my son could tolerate was the Wegman's brand, so we really didn't have a choice.)
  4. I'm pretty sure we discussed this before, but I still don't understand your line of thinking. It's not like this is public money being used to build grocery stores. If Danny Wegman's or the owners of Tops decide they need a huge mega-store to compete, WTF difference does that make? And what else is suffering in WNY because of our "grocery store obsession?" Are we neglecting schools, infrastructure, tourism because of our "grocery store habit?" I'm still waiting for a decent explanation on why a private company building bigger and nicer grocery stores shows WNY's priorities are out of whack.
  5. Agree one both counts. After Super Bowl XXV I don't even have the heart to rank the losses. It's like you've been jumped and are getting your butt kicked by a group of guys -- how do you differentiate one kick to the groin from a punch to the stomach? They all hurt in different ways, but it's just another blow. The Harmon drop still stings, though.
  6. I agree with most of this, but I'd add that if you strip away his BS and rhetoric, the central idea of his post - making good hires, drafting good players to play under those hires and then letting them learn as a group -- is the basic formula for building a winning team.
  7. I've got at least two boxes of books in my closet that I kept for one of two reasons - I thought some might have some use as a reference down the road (some did, but most didn't) and others I was offered damn near next to nothing on buy-back. Spent $50, 75, 100 on some of my books and they offer me $3 or $5. What a joke. Not to mention trips to off-campus copy centers to pick up reading packets at $15-25 per packet. I wish document scanning, PDF downloading and other options were available when I was in school. I'd rather have a bloated hard drive than a closet bulging with books and copy packets not longer needed....
  8. You know, it's funny - I just re-read my post, and I don't see the names Bledsoe or Wade Phillips listed. I also don't see where I agreed with anything you just posted. Take your somewhere else. I simply commented on the main point of the post - the title of the thread:
  9. Continuity for continuity's sake does no one any good if the HC, QB, whatever is not good at what they do. Each position, each coach, each player should be given enough rope to either establish themselves as "the answer" or enough rope to hang themselves. Sticking with losers just because change is tough is a cop-out, and is just as harmful as making changing for changes sake.
  10. Not that hard to do when you limit your free time to eating at Dave & Buster's, staying in to play Madden, and finding a new baby momma.
  11. Why does it bother you so much?
  12. Walmart is going to be cheaper than almost everyone, and not just in groceries. I find it hard to make a serious comparison between BJ's (a wholesale/warehouse club) and Wegman's, and having been in a few Aldi's I don't thik I would even shop there, let alone try to comparison shop. I honestly don't know how the bolded part is possible, unless maybe it's shopping the sale ads and specialty items. When we still lived in WNY we always found it to be the opposite - we never spent anywhere near as much at Wegman's as we did at Tops. Now, when we come back into town we don't set foot in Tops unless we have no other choice. I can tell you that when we moved to the Cleveland area Tops was still here, and pretty much across the board had higher prices than Giant Eagle, which is the dominant chain in this area (and is way higher than Wegman's.)
  13. Nothing to do with this post, but after reading some of these threads I think you should probably change your sig to include Peters on the "being run out of town" list.
  14. Who do think Wegman's is higher than? From the limited time I'm in WNY every year it seems they are much lower on most items than Tops, and I can tell you they are lower on a lot of things than most of the stores around here (Giant Eagle and Acme.)
  15. Apparently the Tribe is good at one thing - growing beards - and they are so good at it that SI can't tell Casey from David Delucci (who should be the next traded or DFA'ed.) Check out the Pic
  16. It's a good day for the Tribe, they shipped Casey Blake to LA for two prospects.
  17. Are you talking about standard point-and-shoot type cameras? If so I've had two -- one Fuji Finepix, which is still running strong after three years, and one Nikon Coolpix, which I just got in May. Knock on wood but no problems for either, and both were in the $150 range.
  18. It's always interesting to see how doctors find new off-label uses for current drugs. The only downside to this (aside from any potential long-term harm to the babies) is we'll probably see Viagra roll out a new TV commercials with a bunch of babies signing the praises of the little blue pill...
  19. I'll second this. Although the "new" Acme Fresh Market isn't too bad of a store...not Wegman's good, but not bad (certainly better than Tops.)
  20. Was that the old "I'll take my ball and go home" style of closing the debate?
  21. In fairness to Favre, it should be mentioned that any phone calls he made to the Vikings were made in a gunslinging fashion, and through the entire conversation, he looked like a kid out there, just having fun. Awesome.
  22. I'm not exactly sure how it's done, but you usually gotta pay double for that kind of action.
  23. Confusing name-change issues aside, we did get the Bills schedule, a little NFL Sunday Ticket magnet, and a comprehensive NFL schedule from DirecTV.
  24. Gotcha. And the show closes with Abbey blowing raspberries on Peter's stomach. Good times.
