  1. You should know as well as anyone that you can't go chasing your losses. What we invested in Losman is irrelvant - the question is how much more (i.e. in terms of failed NFL starts) do we keep investing? JDG
  2. What's bogus is you thinking that five point difference in passer rating actually means something. JDG
  3. How many games and practices *can* you judge an NFL QB in? JDG
  4. Does that include David Klingler, Heath Shuler, Rick Mirer, Cade McNown, and Joey Harrington? Yes, QB X was very bad in his first few years and became good, but in a lot of cases QB X was very bad in his first few years and *was* just plain really, really, bad. JDG
  5. This is actually a negative in my book.... as Losman has inexplicably been unable to put the ball in the hands of our best offensive player. When he gets into trouble, he should be looking for Moulds, not for Reed.... JDG
  6. Sorry dude, but when Drew Brees was labeled, as you put it, "a total bust" he was putting up numbers that were far superior to Losman's. No comparison. JDG
  7. Sorry, dude, but Eli Manning has put up better numbers than Losman.
  8. Its hard to imagine anyone giving up a 1st round picks for Wells...... All Arizona has to do is match the offer and they don't lose Wells. No harm, no foul. The only question now is if the Bills think that Wells is worth more than the Cardinals think Wells is worth. But suffice to say that Buffalo never, ever, makes the offer if a 1st round pick is on the line. JDG
  9. Todd, If you are building a team for the long term you absolutely *do* get the QB first, because the QB takes longer to develop. The only exception to that might be a Left Tackle, if the next Ogden or Pace is available. Guards and Centers on the other hand, are the players you can easily "plug and play." Just look at how the Patriots and Falcons have acquired their Guards. You can bring up the fact that we have blown a lot of draft picks on Bledsoe and Losman, but lets face it - Bledsoe wasn't going to be a good QB even behind the '87 Redskins' Line. The jury is still out on Losman, but if after looking at the game tapes of Losman, reviewing the practice video, reassessing Losman's scouting report, and interviwing Losman that Levy and Jauron determine that Losman "just doesn't have it" - it *absolutely* makes sense for them to get the QB they want to be evaluated upon 3 years from now, rather than just sitting around and hoping that a guy they don't believe in works out. JDG
  10. Poeticlaw, I encourage you to get a tape of this year's Rose Bowl, if you have not seen it already. Both QB's looked better in that game than Losman ever did in college - and that's before considering his putrid play so far in the NFL. JDG
  11. Sorry, Promo, but do you like your bologna cold or fried? Harrington was the third overall pick in the Draft and the second QB taken. There were *plenty* of quesitons surrounding Harrington on Draft Day, particularly the fact that he had never quite lived up to expectations as a college player (remember the Heisman billboard in New York?) I defy you to find a source comparing him to Joe Montana and Dan Marino. In fact, I think that you would struggle to find a respected draft bio of Harrington that would label him "can't miss" or rate him nearly as highly as Leinart. JDG
  12. What's your parameters?
  13. I'd respond, but there is so little chance of a player of Leinart's caliber falling to the Bills that its probably just not worth it.....
  14. Robert Royal was heavily maligned this year in DC due to a number of a big time drops that he had this season..... I have to imagine that he is going to stick to blocking with us.....
  15. "If you're not getting better you're falling behind" -Marv Levy Or to put it another way - you probably thought that we didn't need any defensive players after the 2004 season too, didn't you? JDG
  16. So, you still think that Cade McNown might be pretty good, eh? JDG
  17. It depends on how bad those 9 games are.......
  18. He might be #2 once Losman is cut......
  19. Zero Mobility? Did I just imagine him almost running for the winning TD along the sidelines against Notre Dame? JDG
  20. "Because if you're not getting better, you're falling behind." -Marv Levy
  21. I love how "completing less than 50% of his passes" has gotten translated into "not making the Pro Bowl." JDG
  22. In gambling, that's called chasing your losses. Its generally not been a very successful strategy in any mode of life. Look, we're all pissed that the old regime blew a lot of draft picks - particularly if Losman doesn't pan out. But the first thing to remember, no matter what you are doing in life, is that you can't change the past. This is Year 1 of a new regime. New GM, new Coach. The first aspect of building any team is to address the QB position. After the choice of coach, there is no better way to build a team that will go to the playoffs year after year than by having a great QB - just look at NFL history. Guards can be filled in later. But here's the thing - regimes in the NFL are judged in as little as two or three years these days. Let's say that Levy and Jauron have evaluated Losman on tape - both of his NFL games, his NFL practices, and his college career, as well as interviewed him, and concluded that he just doesn't have it (the Andre' Davis signing is a bit of a clue that this has happened.) Levy and Jauron don't have the luxury of just closing their eyes and clicking their ruby slippers and hoping that a QB they don't think is any good surprises them all and pans out. They need to start planning today for their career evaluation in 2-3 years from now. That may very well mean drafting a QB at #8 if a Top 5 overall player manages to fall all the way to #8 due to this being an exceptionally strong draft and there having been a number of prominant QBs that changed teams this year. JDG
  23. That's because it takes a decade to build an offensive line, right? That's because when teams hit rock bottom, and get a really high draft pick, they generally draft A) a QB or B) an Offensive Guard? Right? JDG
  24. Of course, there's only one word to describe your strategy- *REACH*.
  25. You wouldn't *mind* Leinart? If a player of Leinart's credentials goes all the way down to #8, then we should be doing the Happy Dance that at least seven other NFL teams have lost their collective sanity to let that happen... JDG
