  1. Well, when a GM picks up that many UDFA's, it also means that he had to have been missing on picks in previous years, right? ;-) JDG
  2. Well, that would have given it away, now wouldn't it have? ;-) JDG
  3. Someone mentioned Matt Darby, but how about: LB Ray Bently and "Darby the Dinosaur"? And as long as we are talking Al Edwards and Russel Copeland, how about: WR Chris Walsh Meanwhile, the answer is: TEs Vince Marrow and Rob Coons The question: Who were the backups to "Friggin'" Lonnie Johnson? (Eat your heart out Ken Jennings!) And of course my favorite obscure Bill of all-time.... DT John Dominic. JDG
  4. Come on now, play nice! JDG
  5. If the Bills win out to go 10-6, it is a tremendous accomplishment no matter what happens with the other teams. So let's say that the Bills upend the Steelers and the Ralph is rocking, and we all go home to watch the Broncos beat Indianapolis at home, keeping us out of the playoffs. But hey, at least we ended the season with a great win and great feelings, right? On the other hand, if the Bills do get in, it seems likely that we will end up playing at Indianapolis Week 1. While the Bills are playing well, Peyton Manning is playing at a whole 'nother level right. And we all know Buffalo's history in Domes. Losing by 14 or 21 in Indy would not be unexpected. Which do you prefer? JDG
  6. Or as the old cliche puts it... its only one game at a time. JDG
  7. Nope.... sadly the Bengals cannot be mathematically eliminated next week. But for what its worth, I don't see Marvin Lewis letting this team mail it in the rest of the way either. As the Dolphins showed today, even a team that is eliminated will give you a good game in the NFL. JDG
  8. Thanks to Greg d'Ville for catching one error on the schedule.... I've corrected it. Thanks also to Yoooo and Kelso for catching me on the Jets. Somehow I was convinced that Conference Record was applied before common games. I guess I should have looked it up more recently than last year. I've fixed that part too..... JDG
  9. Actually, we don't have to worry about the Cincy/NE game. If the Bills win out, the Bengals cannot beat us... as the Bills will have beaten the Bengals. Actually, if Cincy beats New England, then it could make Pittsburgh's game against us a meaningless one. JDG
  10. Well, so far today, the Bills have gotten the three wins today that they absolutely needed to have.... the Bills hung on for dear life against Miami, the Bengals launched a miracle comeback to get their first road win over an opponent with a winning record since, get this, 1990!!!!!, the Chargers held on as the clock ran out on the Broncos, and Jax's 60-yard field goal drifted, get this, "wide right" as time expired. Its too bad that the Jets won, but you can't have everything.... So.... here's the outlook for the Bills 1) Bills need to win vs. Cleveland, @Cincinnati, @San Francisco,to go to 9-6 and set up a showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers on the final weekend of the NFL Season. The Bills will be very heavy favorites against the Browns and 49ers, against what are probably the worst two teams in football at this point. I fully expect it to be a real wild one in the five-way chili city. 2) Ravens need to go 2-2 or worse vs. NY Giants, @Indianapolis, @Pittsburgh, and vs. Miami. Road games against the Colts and Steelers look like our best bet, though the Ravens are capable of winning either of those. 3) Broncos need to go 2-2 or worse vs. Miami, @Kansas City, @Tennessee, and vs. Indianapolis. The Colts could be locked into their playoff spot by the last week of the season, so maybe an upset by Miami and a road loss could spare us having to wait for a long afternoon on the final Sunday. 4) Jaguars need to go 3-1 or worse vs. Chicago, @Green Bay, vs, Houston, and @Oakland So there you have it, 4 Bills Wins, 2 Ravens Losses, 2 Broncos Losses, 1 Jaguars Loss, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree and the Bills could be in the playoffs! 5) The wildcard is the Jets... if the Jets lose to the Pats and any two of their remaining three games, we can sneak into the playoffs without catching one of the Broncos, Ravens, or Jaguars. JDG
  11. Well, I think its pretty simple: 1) Bills win out 2) Houston loses once. 3) Catch 3 out of 4 of Jax, Balt, Denver, and the NY Jets. I think we have a great shot at catching Jax and Denver... but Baltimore and the Jets seem more difficult. And for the record, I actually think we'll finish 9-7, which makes all this moot, since we simply won't make the playoffs at 9-7 this year.... but it will be still fun to watch. JDG
  12. It is amazing to think that if Green Bay beats St. Louis at home next week that the Seahawks will be all alone in first place of the NFC West at 6-5 and that St. Louis and the NY Giants will be tied for the second wildcard slot at 5-6…. not coincidentally the Bills' record as well. The good news for the Bills is that our next four opponents are @Miami, @San Francisco, Cleveland, and @Cincinnati, all of whom have 5 wins or less so far this year. Finish it up with a home game against the Steelers, and suddenly 10-6 isn't outside the realm of reasonable possibility. The bad news for the Bills is that we play in the AFC, not the NFC West (which we could win handily.) Standing in the way of the Bills are: NY Jets 8-3 Baltimore 7-4 Denver 7-4 Jacksonville 6-5 Houston 5-6 Cincinnati 5-6 Cincinnati has the tiebreaker on us today, but if the Bills win out, we will hang another loss on the Bengals, and so we won't have to worry about them. Houston is 5-6 and plays @Jets, Indy, @Chicago, @Jax, and Cleveland, and shouldn't finish 10-6. Assuming that the above two happen, the Bills would need to win out, and get three of the following four scenarios to make the playoffs…. Jacksonville, unfortunately, got a game up on us *and* the tiebreaker in miraculous fashion back in Week 1. Thus, the Bills will need the Jags to go 3-2 or worse among Pitt, Chicago, @Green Bay, Houston, and @Oakland. Denver, meanwhile, assuming that San Diego wins next week and goes on to win the division, will also have the tiebreaker on us by virtue of having lost to Atlanta. So, the Broncos would need to go 2-3 or worse among @San Diego, Miami, @KC, @Tenn, and Indianapolis. Baltimore also has the tiebreaker on us, so we need them to go 2-3 or worse among Cincinnati, NY Giants, @Indy, @Pitt, and Miami. Lastly, the NY Jets need to lose to Houston, @Pitt, and New England for the Bills to catch them. The games vs. Seattle and @St. Louis will probably be irrelevant for our purposes due to the way the tiebreakers work. As Mike and the Mechanics would say, "All I Need is a Miracle….." JDG
  13. You might as well just draw names out of a hat in this situation... I like Walker and Mason on the basis of extremely favorable matchups, and the extremely disfavorable matchup to Holt. But there's really no way to predict which one of your four will be the lowest scorer in the bunch.
  14. Thanks for the votes guys, but I'm happy to report that I eventually decided to go with Vick. I just had a feeling that the Atlanta Falcons have been playing ugly, low-scoring games all year, and that the Texans might fall behind the Vikings and have to pass alot. Little did I know. And oddly enough, now at this point, Carr is the starter until proven otherwise..... JDG
  15. My League gives one point for 10 rushing yards, so I always keep beliving that Vick is going to break out with even a modest passing day... Unfortunately, he hasn't had a modest passing day yet, although the injury-riddled Lions are coming to town. Meanwhile, my other option is David Carr, who after falling flat on his face in Week 1, has put up some solid games on my bench... and now he has an attractive matchip at home vs. the Vikings, in a game that should be a shootout and a team that doesn't have a single INT all year. Thoughts? JDG
  16. Grab Lelie.... Gabriel, Whitted and the rest aren't in his League in terms of talent. Dump Jordan, he's dead weight at this point. Garner will probably be cut-bait for you too...
  17. I'd start David Carr over Brett Favre this week... just a hunch.
  18. I won't count on the Pro Football Media to raise the stink about this article it truly deserves: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1883127 In the NCAA, they vacate Championships for things like this... JDG
  19. Of course, I drafted Vick in the 3rd round thinking he'd never be benched unless hurt, and I'm doing precisely that..... but QB's are much different than RB's/WR's.... there's no way you have guys who are better options than Harrison. JDG
  20. We've already seen Vick vs. Carr, but I think that I have quite the dilemma at the Flex position. I need 1 more Flex guys out of this group in a standard yardage/TD league: RB - Priest Holmes WR - Terrell Owens Flex1 - Eric Moulds Flex2 - Duce Staley For Flex3 - Brandon Lloyd against Atlanta playing without DeAngelo Hall. Jerry Porter in Pittsburgh. Peerless Price in San Francisco. How do you pick just one? ;-) My other backups are Larry Fitzgerald (who's dinged), Lamar Gordon (who won't play this week) and Steve Jackson. JDG
  21. I have Vick and Carr, and I am leaning Carr right now if only because: -Carr is at home and also has a favorable matchup -Vick hasn't shown anything this pre-season -It's only one game, if Vick goes to San Francisco and produces we can rest easy with having invested a high pick in him, and set him as our QB and forget him until the bye week. -It will be hard for Vick to blow Carr out of the water this week in terms of points. Thus, Carr may have slightly less upside, but Carr also has much less downside IMHO given Atlanta's apparent struggles. JDG
  22. Start Harrison first, second, third, and fourth. Unless the wind speed exceeds 50 mph Harrison is the man. Moss is a weak second choice. JDG
  23. Dillon over Griffin.... got to go with the featured back until we see what Griffin is going to do in real games. Moulds over Givens without even thinking about it for a second. I like Moulds over Rogers - again a proven performer of Rogers, who is simply all potential at this point. JDG
