Isn't that usually considered the "Kiss of Death", getting the endorsement of the Franchise for another year?
-
His record in teh draft is not Abysmal. Its not amzing, but its not much worse then many other teams in the league. he has had 3 years of drafts, some of those players are just starting to become the players they expected. I bet you were on the Spillers a bust bandwagon last season, that one turned around quickly, should have used an ambulance instead of wagon though with all the broken ankles people got from jumping off and on that one. If you are going to say he isn't capable of being an NFL GM cause in the 3 years he has been year he hasn't found a franchise QB, then half the NFLs GM's aren't competent either. How many here were screaming last year when there was a chance that the Bills could take Cam Newton prior to the draft if he fell to 3 because they need a pass rusher like Dareus? It seemed like every year there was always a bigger need according tot eh fans then drafting a QB, until Fitz proved this year he isn't the answer, then the FO should have known that already and picked up someone who in hindsight is better

I think Lovie in Chicago might be safe. Ten and oakland might be safe too because they did just bring those guys in recently, pretty Knee Jerk if they fire them already. The rest I could all see being a potential for HC and even GM openings As for Gailey and Nix, I think Nix stays around for atleast one more year, the earliest he is gone would be after teh Draft I think, then he elects to hand over the spot to Whaley. I would say theres less then 5% chance he is fired though. Gailey more then likely steps down/retires Monday

Rumor only!! Involves John Gruden

Because Shad has proven so much in his couple months as owner. He must be better, atleast he wouldn't sell a home game to another country........... -
What about the previous upgrades? If you want to get technical, The last big change to Microsoft Office included being able to create .PDFs, changing the .doc to .docx, Changed the overall look, etc. Its not like they push the new years version every year, or the previous one is obsolete and you have to upgrade for compatibility

Lol, so your cool with a lateral move, bringing in someone who failed at his previous position (becoming a retread) just cause the Last name is Polian? If there was a chance he would have been good, why did they get rid of both of them, safter the agreed to go along with the plan to tank the season and get Luck?

Most coaches would rather take the easier route of going to a team that has some good building blocks in place already then go somewhere that needs a complete overhaul of talent. When you take your blinders off and actually look at the names on the Bills roster, they have talent there, that talent just grossly underachieved this year and the team had some bad breaks. Removing the fact that most here are Bills fans, look at the rosters, and what team would you rather go to as a HC, Buffalo or Jacksonville right now? -
Sanchez to start this weekend vs. Bills

I don't know if that lasted more then a few weeks............. He beat a rookie CB playing in his first career NFL game? How did the Bills not cut him immediatly -
Isn't this similar to what Apple has been doing to the Iphone? Minor tweaks, speed it up a little bit, then promote it as the next greatest thing? It isn't much different then what video game manufacturers like EA Sports have been doing too. Every year they release their newest versions of their sports games and the biggest changes to it are the updated rosters almost every year

And Bill Cowher also, it was his recommendation............

How many teams go out and fire everyone associated with the teams front office (President, CEO, Marketing Guy, Financial Guy/Accountant, etc?)House cleaning #1 would have been when tehy cleaned house to bring in Donahoe #2 - Firing Donahoe to bring in Levy and staff #3 - When Nix and Gailey were brought in Those are the 3 if you want to get technical because it involved new GM and headcoaches, a typical Sports team "Full House cleaning". If you go by some, a typical housecleaning is when they fire the HC and his entire staff and replace with a new staff.

Might also have to do with franchises who have some talented players already and may be looking for a HC/GM at the end of the year with the way the started their seasons out........... -
If he is anything like the fans here, then Yes............

well, since he is the guy who runs the financial/business side of the team, and knows that trying to market/sell another year of the same in buffalo will be tougher then selling Ice to a penguin in the Artic, That comment really doesn't mean anything. If Stevie came out and said he was in favor/pushing for cleaning house, would that make him also involved in the day to day football operations? If anything I would say his comment shows the lack of power he has on the football side of things as CEO because if he had the power, he could go ahead and do it, rather then just being in favor of it...........

I think the news today said it was still the busiest Shopping day of the year hereOnline shopping has definitly taken away some of the crowds from the local malls, but the ones around here still had full parking lots yesterday afternoon For those not Aware, Boxing Day in Canada is best described as the Canadian "Black Friday"

And Leaf was seen as a top 2 pick, Jamarcus Russell and Alex Smith were both seen as #1 overall picksHe still gave up alot to move up and take a chance on someone who has never played a down in the NFL before and had a 50/50 chance of being either the next Vick, or the next Newton 13 years of futility has been through 3-4 house cleanings already, How have those worked out?

Sanchez to start this weekend vs. Bills
apuszczalowski replied to Maybe Someday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But imagine how much worse it would be facing a QB that they have almost no film to game plan on except for his comeback win against the Cards, and another where you never get to see him execute a play because he was sacked every timeOR Having to face a guy who runs their mysterious WildCat that no one has much footage on because they barely used it. Atleast with Sanchez they have footage of how he is going to beat them....... -
From his interview on WGR Last week, Nix doesn't sound "Hell Bent" on it, he just said they will be getting one early. From the way he sounded, It sounds more like he would draft a WR first, then take a QB later in the 1st or 2nd. I would like to know Banks thoughts on Shanahan last year and the trade to move up to get RGIII, I'm sure Banks was against that desperation move. As for Caldwell, how does he know that he would welcome the chance to leave a team close to being SB contenders to come to Buffalo and try and turn them around?
-
And yet the Pats win SBs with some of the lowest ranked defences, along with GB. As for New Orleans, they are hard to really use as an example in this, They lost their HC and DC before teh season, along with tehir replacement HC for part of the year, and some players. They had a bigger mess then just their defence getting worse this year........... As for the browns, just because he was drafted in teh 1st, doesn't mean the guy is truly a 1st round QB. Wheedon is older then some multi year starting QBs in the league already......

Sanchez to start this weekend vs. Bills
apuszczalowski replied to Maybe Someday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Easier then facing a Young Qb the entire league has very littel footage on and a guy who barely saw the field as their Wild Cat Specialist and who they did not want to start when Sanchez was first out, yeah I can see where Bryan Scott is coming from.Thats not saying that it means they will destroy Sanchez, just that out of the 3, its easier to probably play against him................ -
What Big name coach has he been able to land over his career in the NFL? Dungy was fired from Tampa and brought to the Colts, then replaced by one of his assistants when he retired, Levy wasn't a big name coach in the NFL when he came to Buffalo either. Outside of Buffalo and its fans, Polian hasn't reached the same elite legendary status as everyone here has of him (Just to clarify, I'm not saying people don't think he was a good GM around the NFL, just not as legendary as Buffalo fans do where his presence would lead to Big name coaches lining up to take the job here)
-
So when Saint Polian takes over, when does Luck/Manning get here? Yup, a 1 time Super Bowl winning GM. He is probably the most popular Bridesmaid though, 7 appearances in the big game (over a 20 year career in the game) with only one Lombardi to show for it, yet the fans in Buffalo would run over their own children if it meant he would come back here........ As I said in another post, if they planned on throwing the season in order to get luck, why did they fire Saint Polian then? He is the greast GM to ever live and breathe the game
