  1. Nah, probably just a lawsuit by the Paps family suing Beiber for having his car parked on the other side of a busy street......
  2. From the rumors though, it sounds like the Bills are asking the coaching candiates their opinion on if they could work with someone like Smith. It may be their plan to draft someone early, and go after someone like Smith to compete for the job. But this may also be a question they are asking to find out their mentality on the QB position and developing one.
  3. Thats why he is brought in to battle with a rookie QB drafted earlyI wouldn't suggest bringing him in and giving him the starting job just because, he would have to work for it. I don't think he would expect to be given a starting job in this league without some kind of competition. I might give him the early lead in a QB race to start the season, but he would have to actually win the job.
  4. And outside of the top 2 picks in the draft who were projected to be some of the best QBs to come out in years, and Wilson, how many of them are lighting up the League?Tannehill? Wheedon? or going back to last season Ponder (who is on a team that had to be carried, literally, by one of the best RBs the leagues seen in years into the playoffs and was looked at earlier this year as possibly the worst in the starting QB in the league this year)? Locker? Yeah, all rookie QBs should come into the league and have immediate success, Luck, RGIII & Wilson did it!
  5. I agree with the last part, I would bring him in, along with a QB drafted early and let them both compete for the starting job on equal footing. If Smith thinks he is going to just be handed a starting job in the NFL again, he is dreaming. If he beats out the rookie, its his job to eventually lose when the rookie beats him out. There is no way he stays in SF after this year, not after how he lost his starting job because of injury and not because of performance
  6. yeah, cause if you do something once, in the past and it doesn't work out the way you want it to, you should never do it again.Guess the bills shouldn't draft a QB in the first ever again, and definitly not any Tackles/o-linemen
  7. He went 10-6 and missed the playoffs due to a tie breaker, lets not make it sound like they played meaningless football all December. Even Ditka said he thinks it was a bad move firing him because he missed the playoffs when they were so close
  8. Sometimes the teams play isn't all because of the coach, and sometimes the teams faults may have been because of other reasons. Arizona had some good parts to their team, the defence was pretty good but they were held back by the offence. Its possible that the Bills want Horton, but not as a HC, and if they hire Wiz as the HC he will bring horton over. They also probably feel that the situation in Arizona was not all on Wiz, but with the bills he would do a better job. You aren't going to get Top tier experienced coaches with proven track records available right now, those guys very rarely get fired. Its usually teams with bad records that fire their coaches and coaching staffs. The problem with going after a co-ordinator with no HC experience or a college guy is that they are High Risk/potential High Reward guys. You have no idea how they would do as a HC in the NFL, and although they have the possibility to become the next Lombardi, odds are better they may just be a great co-ordinator (Wade, Williams, etc.) or better in College.
  9. I'm wondering if some of these interviews are maybe not for the HC job, but to guage interest in co-ordinators? Usually the coach picks his own guys, but maybe they are trying to get a feel on some of the possible co-ordinators that might be brought in by the guy they want as HC?
  10. Didn't Nix say yesterday that they were drafting somoen, and probably bringing in a FA also? The only person having a worse New year then Chan has to be Fitz right now....
  11. Horton may not be retained by the next coaching staff (If its going to be reid like rumored, sounds like reid already has put together his staff). The Bills could also give him the "Assistant HC" title along with DC, that would be a promotion for Horton and I beleive would get him out of Arizona unless their new coach is willing to do the same. I do agree, Whiz/Horton DC is much better then Whiz/? @ DC.
  12. Only way Whiz takes a co-ordinator job under one of his former co-ordinators is if he has no other options as a HC. Doubt he takes a step down to work under one of his former guys. I think that after the Bills comments yesterday, if they leave Arizona without a Coach, then these guys are out. They said yesterday a few times that when they find the guy they want, they will get him. They aren't going to keep looking to see if they can get someone better. If Whiz is their guy (or Horton), he gets a contract offer before they leave Arizona and interview someone else.
  13. If he isn't hired as the HC in Arizona, and it goes to Reid, like its being rumored, then i think he becomes the DC for the team the takes Whiz. Sounds like Reid already has a staff in place for whomever takes him, don't think Horton is kept unless its part of the deal to take the job in Arizona. I would say either Lovie/Marinelli DC or Whiz/Horton DC would be the best moves for this franchise right now to turn around the team the quickest, and both would be the safest picks. You could roll the dice on a Co-ordinator with no HC experience, or on a college coach, but theres a greater risk we are looking for a new coach in 3 years again by going that route. Although theres also a greater reward that we found the next great HC in the league too
  14. Because tehy didn't feel that drafting a guy then was the right time, their plan was to build everything else and then bring in a young QB
  15. Looking at Kellys past, he is probably still passed out on the floor or just waking up to one of the worst hangovers imaginable....
  16. So why does nobody scream about how we could have had Ponder also, yet they include him in the list of rookies making the playoffs? Ponder was being called the worst starting QB in the league a few weeks ago, he is the starter on a team being carried by AP. What has kaepernick really proved out there? He won games with the same team that Alex Smith won games with, yet people keep talking about how Smith is such a horrible QB. Kaepernick sure did look elite when they played a good team in Seattle 2 weeks ago.........
  17. Because it isn't what they want to hear. In 3 seasons, they started with Trent and Fitz, went to Fitz and Thigpen, and this offseason went to Fitz and Thig while bringing in VY and TJ. They didn't go try to get someone in the draft, but if you go back to this time the last few seasons, you would be amazed to find how many people here had argued the bills were fine with Fitz and needed to use picks elsewhere and not on a QB. It isn't until another team succeeds with a QB and Fitz looks bad that the fans throw tantrums about how Nix failed and never brought in a QB.....
  18. Bills still have over 2 months to negotiate with Levitre before the Bears can even express any interest in Levitre
  19. Does anyone ever wonder why some of the favorites here like marty, or Billick have been out of work for years, yet they are begging teams to take them?
  20. Why would Kyle want to leave his Daddys staff? He is probably going to be his replacement once he retiresAlso, how well did he do when not working for Daddys team and without RGIII?
  21. And he holds out til he gets a trade, because that was the exact reason why he left Houston and came to Buffalo. HE DOESN'T WANT TO PLAY IN A 3-4
  22. I don't know if Nix is really on that short of a leash, and if he is, the most likely candidate to take over is Whaley, whos already on the staff and would probably be in on the decision to sign the new coach I can almost see Nix "retiring" before training camp this year, or staying on til the draft then stepping down to give the job over to Whaley after the draft. He gets the QB he said he would and decides to step down from teh GM position leaving the Bills in what he feels a better position Funny thing about the "Five year plan"Last night, during the Skins/Cowboys game, they mentioned that Shanahan had gone into the owners office when he first got the job and told him that it was gonna take about 5 years to re-build, lucky for him things fell into place much sooner
  23. but atleast this time it would be a good Bears reject. The problems on that team were on offence and with a horrible o-line, he would have one of the best o-lines hes ever had if he came here
  24. I personally would be on the phone now trying to get an interview with Lovie Smith. He is a decent coach who hasn't had a great offence, but really good defences. Well the offence here already has some pretty good pieces here already (this would be one of the best offensive lines hes had) and has pieces for a good defence too. He also fills the Rooney rule and will probably be one of the hottest former coach candidates out there this offseason (assuming Reid is going to SD). he took a Bears team with Cutler at QB to 10-6, and only missed the playoffs because of tie breakers
