  1. Ok thanks. It is going back four years but I sat behind the bench then and at that game Wood would come off the field totally charged up and was talking to all the linemen getting them stoked up and talking to them about technique and plans and such (from me reading the pantomime). Ironically it was a Jets game also.
  2. This makes an image in my head from one of the old westerns with McD sitting in a circle inside a teepee cross legged amongst the Indian elders smoking a peace pipe.
  3. I think it could be just as you say. We both know what poor play and low talent looks like. To me these past games look worse because of how badly the Bills are being beaten. I don't recall a consecutive series of losses where the team is outclassed to the extent that they could almost be a college team, they appear listless, and nobody seems to get mad. Even stupid penalties for starting fights out of frustration, which really annoy me, would be a step up at this point. I think there may be behavioral cues in the film. Also I will try to find some people who sit behind the Bills bench to get an idea of how they seem during games.
  4. Ironically I am about to sign up for all 22 in order to study the film to find out how the Bills could be so BAD. I am actually going to pay, to watch this stuff again. I am learning some football from some of the guys on this board but I want to see this repeatedly in stop motion to look real close. I don't understand how it could be all on the coaching and schemes because one thing McDermott did was to bring in a very highly respected and experienced coaching staff. They may not be the newest and brightest coaching staff but this fall off a cliff shouldn't be happening. It looks to me too Shaw as if McDermott has lost the team. Or that something real bad has happened to morale. It would have to have been big to happen so fast. It is confusing. So I will study the film. I know one thing for sure from what little film I have seen. Which I will illustrate with a story. John Madden told a story about when he was coaching Art Shell. During a game in which he played very well, and that the Raiders won, Art Shell missed one block which got the QB hit and sacked. In the locker room after during the boisterous celebration of victory, Madden looks over and he sees Art Shell crying. So he goes over to Shell and he says what is the matter with you? Why are you crying? Art Shell looks at him and chokes out the words "That block. I missed that block." I know for sure that is not the attitude these players have. Except Tre White. Anyway I will know more once I see the film I hope.
  5. I need help to understand why our blocking scheme can be foiled by a guy shifting down the line a few feet. I see what you mean, but there has to be a way to deal with that, right?
  6. How long we gotta wait?
  7. Thank you for the joke appreciation! Prior to that game I was firmly convinced that Tyrod has limitations he is very unlikely to overcome. I also thought that he has been unwilling to work on the read and throw skills he lacks because he is not humble enough to admit he needs it. I am of the opinion that I learned nothing at all about Nathan Peterman's future in that game aside from that he can take a beating. And I learned that I have no idea of Tyrod Taylor can be a pocket passer or not, because there isn't a pocket. And that losing games 3 to 47 or 10 to 38 is better than losing them 7 to 592, and also maybe having to watch someone die while we do it. I wrote in a different thread that I recall when Drew Bledsoe who was a 1st overall draft pick with 11 years experience including a superbowl appearance, was working in camp with a 3 second timer. They wanted him to be faster and get rid of the ball in 3 seconds. Peterman had between 1.5 seconds and 2.5 seconds before he was hit, in his first NFL start. We had linemen coming in unblocked. Not a blitzing safety, no trickery. A pass rushing specialist lineman, who was unblocked. Because he stepped down a few feet out of his usual starting spot you see. I guess there is no counter to that. Now I think that if Tyrod disagrees with the coaches, then I believe Tyrod. And I think that is fair based on the evidence we have seen. I see you think they have to let Tyrod go now. I think they almost can not even consider that before 2019. I think they just put 16 million dollars in his pocket for next year. Who else can they put out there? I can't think of anybody who could stand up to that out there besides him. Any ideas?
  8. How does somebody show on the filed that they are starter material, when they haven't been put into a game? I don't understand.
  9. Upon reflection, I think McDermott just has to put Tyrod back because he will be fired if he doesn't. The story was that Tyrod was the problem holding the offense back. And yes of course the defense has some issues. But a big part of that is because the defense is on the field so much that they are so so tired. And that is Tyrod's fault. So what we gotta do here is embarrassing sorry Tyrod but you have to go. Because we have analyzed the film and you are the problem. In goes Nathan Peterman. This is a re-enactment. I am not sure anybody, not even Tyrod's mom expected this, but what happened was God smote Sean McDermott and his coaching staff. He smote them like a bug on the windshield. It wasn't just bad, or even horrific. It was the worst half of offensive football in history. Plainly God likes Tyrod better than he likes Sean McDermott. Quite a bit better from the looks of what happened out there. If I was choosing I would go to Tyrod's church instead of McDermott's too. Tyrod could not have won this any bigger. They say he is the problem. He says he isn't. Who was right? The players almost never win that sort of thing. Tyrod didn't just win this one, he won it just about as completely as it is possible to do. I think here is no other reasonable way to look at it. They are much, much better with Tyrod and he is not the main problem. They are. Meanwhile we have Coach McD trying to explain that this is just part of the process. If Coach McD and his staff can see at all clearly, they have to know that they can not have another game like that one. It could finish them off. Tyrod will be the starter Sunday.
  10. Let me take you back to 2004. In camp they had Drew Bledsoe on a 3 second timer so he would become accustomed to having the ball gone in 3 seconds. He had been slower than they wanted getting rid of the Ball. Drew Bledsoe, The First overall pick, who was at that time an 11 year veteran starter, who had play in the Superbowl, was learning to get rid of the ball in 3 seconds. The rest here is from Wikipedia: When Bledsoe retired in April 2007, he left fifth in NFL history in pass attempts (6,717) and completions (3,839), seventh in passing yards (44,611), and 13th in touchdown passes (251).[citation needed] On May 16, 2011, Bledsoe was voted by Patriots fans into the Patriots Hall of Fame. In July 2012, Bledsoe was named the 30th greatest quarterback of the NFL's post-merger era by Football Nation.[17] Nov 19 Nathan Peterman 5th round pick starting his first ever NFL game, had between 1.5 and 2.5 seconds to read the field and throw the ball before being hit. I don't think we learned anything at all about Nate Peterman on Sunday. Except I think we learned that Tyrod Taylor can survive in those circumstances we had out there and Nate Peterman can't. As for the defense, the watchword is "simplify". All those confusing assignments and adjustments get in the way, remember? I will watch the tape soon but having read what you wrote, I am starting to wonder if teams have just figured out how our simple defense runs, and have decided to attack in a smart way so that the simple defense just doesn't work.
  11. I bet I agree with you on this one, more than YOU agree with you. I need to not get started on it though because I would baffle Freud himself on how much that bugs me. "Zo, it is not your mutter, nor your papa at ze root of your deepest trauma? It is because ze Buffalo Billz refuze to draft ze quarterback?? Zees makes no sense Mr Meanie." I gotta let it go. And people will actually disagree in large numbers. They will find me dead of a stroke at my keyboard with a pile of waffles at my feet. I can't have that debate in my delicate weakened condition I tell ya! So will leave it at, the Bills do not have bad luck for 20 years. It is not bad luck. There is no curse. The Bills lose because of the things the Bills do. Off to my happy place.
  12. Who is this oracle so wise in the ways of Billshood survival? Is he the chosen one, sent to lead us through the never ending desert? I shall do as you say wise man! Stroopwaffles or quarterbacks, or both? Once he started in with the sack feeding frenzy, I would have run at Bosa. Put a lineman on him to hold him and then have my fullback put his helmet in Bosa's stomach. Immaterial if Shady made it through or not. Maybe we get some 3 and outs but it would have given Bosa something to think about besides eating my QB for breakfast.
  13. You guys are Soft. Mushy. Cynical. Y'all can push to sell the team and build a new age crystal and aroma therapy stadium to gather in and commune with the universe when my bunch is under the turf. But til then we are not dead yet porky.
  14. The same way they got the extra first for JP. Trade this year's second and next year's first. Or, maybe something closer to what they did to get McCargo at 26 overall, a second and third. (Rodgers went at 24) Or, they could have not pushed it and traded away that first round pick for JP to begin with. If it was a second and third, that is not so high a price when you are not sure you have the next guy on your roster. And there was no way to be sure JP was the next guy. But you have a point, that is in hindsight. Nobody knew Aaron Rodgers would be Aaron Rodgers, except the draft gurus I guess. This will be painful to review! They could have just went with Drew Bledsoe for another year until a blue chip prospect came along. Not having done that, they could have probably traded that year's second and next years first to get Aaron Rodgers, who was a blue chip prospect that fell down the board for reasons I still don't know completely. Trading that year's second would have cost them Roscoe Parrish. That year's third would cost them Kevin Everett. Next year's first would have been either Donte Whitner or John McCargo. So I get your point they sure wouldn't have wanted to go out and do that again, trade up again the very next year. But it wouldn't have cost them an arm and a leg either way.
  15. I enjoyed this exchange. 10/10 would read again.
  16. I guess that makes you and me the start of the new Foolish Club!
  17. I would say that for 20 years they have twice taken whatever the best available quarterback was available to draft in a hurry. JP Losman at 22 after the top 3 went and they had already drafted Lee Evans. Then they pretend the guy is who they always wanted, and refuse to admit they could have been wrong. Then they pass on Aaron Rodgers the next year who was easily obtainable and who had much better credentials. You can include Trent Edwards in that mix. For 20 years they have attempted to cobble together offensive lines. Instead of investing 2 or 3 drafts assembling those men. 20 years of quick fixes. 20 years of mediocrity. Worst team in football. Drafting a bunch of linemen high and drafting quarterbacks until you hit on one takes time. And it hurts the box office because linemen don't sell tickets and are not as important until you have somebody important developing behind that line. That is the core. That is the only approach I will believe in. And unless one has spectacular luck, it for sure does not happen fast.
  18. Used judiciously, it does. Franklin Clarence Mars was awarded the Nobel Prize in Confectionery Science for the Snickers Bar.
  19. That is over the line. Delete yours I will delete my quote of it.
  20. It's bad man but I would never consider driving off the Peace Bridge. I'm afraid of heights. I like having you around the boards. If you need to go that's cool. Nobody is obligated to be a football fan. I myself get very blue after some games that I know mean the end of another season. Some people say they enjoy the wins but do not get upset about the losses. That makes no sense to me. It goes against human nature. You either care about something or you don't. Anyway move on if you need to but maybe take a break and see. One year I saw the first game and just stopped watching the rest of the year except in the background because I knew from that game it was over already. You didn't ask for advice but something that has helped me is that I have a policy. I do not believe a single word anyone says that has anything to do with making a living off NFL football. For me that means anyone paid by the team, or in the media who make their livings covering sports, or who have an ambition to one day be paid in some way. That pretty much leaves me with believing only my own eyes and the observations of some real life and message board friends or posters. Unfortunately this year my own eyes told me something special was happening. Oh well! But at least I made my own mistake! Anyway good luck to you row_33. And if you don't eat sugar or sweets or soda pop get some ice cream and eat it. It is an amazing mood enhancer if you only use it in emergencies.
  21. It's your breath.
  22. I was wrong thinking I was wiser and the Bills wouldn't suck me in this year. Well they got me again. I was wrong thinking Tyrod wouldn't even try to play to this offensive system because he was a stubborn jerk. Now I think he won't do it because it will end in disaster. He won't throw to where the receiver is supposed to be using "anticipation" because the receiver may or may not remember where he is supposed to go. He won't throw the jump ball counting on his receiver to go get it because Andre Reed is not on this team. In short they put Peterman out there to run the offense their way and it was a catastrophe. Taylor's stock went up a lot with me. I thought this years team would suck. I know sucking. I have had 20 years of sucking. So I know sucking when I see it and I was wrong. This is something beyond sucking out there and I have no idea how it can be this bad. Without Taylor Sunday they could easily have scored 100 points on us.
  23. Isn't that what they have been trying to do for close to 20 years now? I think it is.
