  1. Wasn't there a time before Rich Stadium/ The Ralph was built that the Bills were considering a move to Seattle along with other locales...?
  2. Spike Jones (punter during the early seventies)... Art Schlichter (cut in preseason once Kelly was in the fold)... Larry Watkins (had 100 yards in same game that Orenthal had 250 against Pats in '74 (?) opener)... Carlester Crumpler...
  3. As a frame of reference at least it isn't as bad as the police extortion that is so widespread in Mexico...
  4. Look what you started... http://lamaslinda.com/ Thanks! Oh yeah, football...
  5. Furthermore, the airlines have been accepting expired passports as long as you also have picture id (license) and either a birth certificate or health certificate.
  6. Three interceptions are never good but when putting them into context, Bledsoe moved the team all game. Bledsoe made some bad decisions by forcing the ball into double coverage. Statistically Bledsoe didn't fare so well with the picks but the end result was a dominating win. In fact, I don't think the Bills had a single four and out. Not having a four and out is rare for most teams especially the Bills and a genuine sign that what was a feeble offense is now getting better. Without those three interceptions the Bills might have had 47 points (with three field goals) or more. And it was a convincing road victory, the first and only of the season. Fear not, J.P. is learning and he will have his day. There is no reason to force Losman into action.
  7. I agree. Sending it back to Willis, the onside kick, spreading the ball out to nine different receivers, including the tight end and the fullback in more than just blocking is indicative that the offensive coaches are using their imagination. The Bills mixing of the plays and the players is classic Bill Parcells football.
  8. I believe the Bills were sacked 51 times last year. This year the Bills have been sacked 15 times for an average of 5 per game. Roll that average over 16 games and...yikes...80 sacks... The offensive line did play much better on Sunday. And Bledsoe's two pitches to Evans and Moulds were very nice. However, over time those sacks usually lead to injuries whether it be Bledsoe, Matthews or Losman (again).
  9. The A's were amazing most of the season until it seems like everybody ran out of gas. The pitching fell apart other than the impressive Harden. Have faith in Billy Beane, he always fields a competitive team.
  10. Lost (ABC, Wednesday nights) seems interesting... http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/index.html
  11. Maybe this feature is cool sometimes for some people but I find the "miking" of players to be annoying. It might be better if they "miked" the athlete without them knowing about it. Lewis is a good football player but every time he was "miked up" I hit the remote to rewatch the presidential debate. I got an idea, take Ray Lewis and Hank Jr., lock them in a rubber room, give them both a Mr Microphone and let them go... Better yet, throw Al Sharpton into the mix...
  12. Anheuser Busch beers are dying. AB is desperate. They keep pandering to the masses hoping they have the next popular beverage. Bud is laughable. The drinkers of "great" beers such as Miller Lite and Coors light cringe at the thought of drinking Bud Light. Mich Ultra is another attempt to pander, in this case to those who struggle with the basics of diet and exercise. Bud products are going the way of Old Milwaukee, Schlitz, Old Style, etc. Tastes are always changing. But Anheuser should learn from the onset of the microbeers that people appreciate good tasting beer. The young people do experiment but eventually they turn on to better beer. Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, Bass and the Canadians are all much better beers. Ginseng? Give me a break! People would rather drink Corona (Mexican Budweiser). And the ones who really want a zap (as an alternative to hard liquor) drink Red Bull and Vodka. And if Zima wasn't bad enough, they even sell it in cans. I read recently that the official beer sponsor for the next Hockey World Cup in Germany will be Anheuser Busch. And as you might imagine the Germans are not happy about having to drink "American piss".
  13. To state the obvious Drew lacks jets. However, if he can walk on the field, he can roll out. In fact he can and has done more than walk! If you look back to the Raiders game, it was indeed a rollout on the late touchdown to Bledsoe. Football is supposedly a thinking man's sport. Look at Parcells and how he mixes up plays, spreads the ball around and keeps defenses guessing. Why for the life of me, the Bills insist on lining up Bledsoe at center as opposed to the shotgun? Bledsoe can move, albeit not very fast but not moving him at all makes it much easier to defend against him. Of course the Pats were going to tee off on Bledsoe on the last drive just as the Raiders did at the end of that game. Learn from mistakes, playcalling mistakes. Is there anybody out there who played the game who can give first hand commentary as to how to defense a stationary qb vs. a qb that rolls out? Is there anybody out there who can offer first hand knowledge as to why it is better to use the shotgun when it is 3rd and long, 4th and long? If it so obvious to the fans that rollouts and shotguns offer a distinct advantage then why isn't it obvious to the coaches? Or do the coaches simply insist on using their cookie cutter of a gameplan regardless of the circumstances and the consequences.
  14. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patr.../04/18_wheeler/ Have the Bills bottomed out?
  15. I also thought McGee got picked which unless I am wrong, should have been a penalty?
  16. The offensive line got blown away on the last drive. And whoever called the plays on that series of downs needs to explain themselves. Even if Henry had blocked the Patriot who sacked Bledsoe leading to the last Pats touchdown, there were two other Pats steaming right behind him. One of these weeks the Bills are going to have a "complete" game. I also believe the offensive line played better against the Pats. Bledsoe had more time and the run blocking was commendable. The Bills averaged five yards per carry. The Pats can be pushed around as Indy showed in the first Monday Night Football game. The Bills had success with the run but when they needed punch at the end, it wasn't there. The Bills were in the game into the fourth quarter, again. The Bills offense only scored 10 points, again. Travis Henry inexplicably lost his footing at a key point in the game, again. The Bills had some stupid undisciplined penalties, again. Too many, agains...
  17. Stay with Bledsoe but for God's sake line him up in the shotgun especially on obvious passing downs. Also roll Bledsoe out one or two times a game just to keep the defenses honest. If Bledsoe is to be replaced put Mathews in his place. I can't see an inexperienced QB doing better than Bledsoe or Mathews especially after coming off a very serious leg injury. Losman is the future. The Bills shouldn't be so desperate to salvage this season if it means potentially ruining Losman's health. The final score of the Pats game doesn't reveal how close the game was. Too many little things added up to a loss. Poor play calling, penalties and a running back who falls over his own feet. Where was Willis? Other than the touchdown in which he was slightly picked, Terrance McGee played solid again.
  18. I agree with you Promo. MLB really mismanaged the Expos. The 1994 strike hurt the Expos severely. Also, the rich and poor economic system of MLB helped widen the divide between the Expos and the rest of the league. The usual solution for waning interest is for teams to build new ballparks. Then what? The richest still win and the poorest don't. Some people still don't go to baseball games because of the strike of 1994. Montreal should still have a MLB team. MLB gave the fans in Montreal every reason not to care. As for the crowd in Montreal booing the US anthem, that has happened before (even at kids hockey games) especially in the aftermath of the Iraq war. It is interesting to note that the booing at the last Expos home game was soon drowned out by cheers. US college students perhaps? As for the Buffalo Braves, the NBA owners and the league conspired to get another franchise in California. The owner of the Braves sold the top players and the fans stopped attending the games so the league had the perfect excuse to move to San Diego. The Braves were very popular at one time but once again, the NBA gave the Buffalo fans good reason not to care.
  19. Also coached Chicago Black Hawks and played on two Stanley Cup winning teams in Montreal... http://www.suntimes.com/output/hawks/reay24.html http://bisons.wmwdigitalcreations.com/Bisons2.htm
  20. This did not have to happen. It is a sad story for Montreal and a happy one (maybe) for D.C. Interesting story: http://www.canada.com/sports/baseball/expo...47-876b20f1f87d Editorial Cartoon (Aislin): http://www.canada.com/montreal/montrealgaz...islin/0925.html
  21. You have my belated condolences. Some things put it all in perspective. As for a thread that made it. They are numerous. The funny ones work. The good vibes coming after Pat Tillman's passing is something that I will always remember. But in your case, it's the avatar! I have sent that one across the continent a number of times!
  22. If Losman has any doubts about playing more cautiously he should talk to Rich Gannon.
  23. My condolences. The Expos had some great players and could have continued to thrive if MLB had made a long term commitment to repair the damage of the strike and weak ownership. It sucks for the long time fans and the newest ones, the kids. Not having a new stadium was the final dagger. I remember how in the 70's, the NBA owners jobbed Buffalo, leading the way to the Buffalo Braves leaving for San Diego. The owner of the Braves sold off the best players and the league and owners let it happen. So then the fans stopped going to the games, the owner put an ultimatum to the fans to buy more tickets and wham the Braves were dust. I never was an NBA fan ever again.
  24. The Raiders have great fans. They always pack the stadiums for their road games. So why don't they sellout every game in Oakland? To those of you back home who are filling those seats at the Ralph, you are saving the franchise. It is appreciated.
  25. Impressive list Pete! I am still amazed at the camera work in "Amores Perros" (Mexico). http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0245712/ "Once Were Warriors" from New Zealand was too violent (for some) but a great story. http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0110729/ "One Day in September" about the terrorist acts of the 1972 Olympics was well done. http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0230591/ Recently, I saw "Holy Cross" at the Montreal Film Festival; http://www.ffm-montreal.org/cgi-bin/ffmfil...um=15344&lng=EN I don't know if "Holy Cross" is going to make it in the US as it has not yet been picked up but if it shows up in theaters, see it! Did someone say Emmanuelle Beart? She is quite elegant! So is Virginie Ledoyen! http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Virginie+...eb-t&fl=0&x=wrt
