  1. Many years ago I used to go to Camp Turner up in Allegany State Park. They used to rotate latrine cleaning among the cabins. Knowing this, some cabins would leave their piles of cement for rival cabins to endure. Fortunately, I never had to do the cleanup but it was inhumane. It might have been better to be drunk.
  2. When Gretzky and Lemieux came along it attracted many new "observers" to the sport. Ticket sales, tv ratings and salaries boomed. That era was very unique and great for the sport. There was a windfall for both players and owners. That time has past. It is painful to go backwards especially as paychecks go but for the health of the sport which in my view is maintaining the current teams (especially the ones in Buffalo and Canada), the players need to back up. As in any business, the prestige of owning a team is severely diminished when losses mount. Also, not that I have a problem with all the Euros in the league (I enjoy seeing the best in the world) but most North Americans can't even say their names. And borderline fans still hold that "I can't follow the puck on tv excuse" (just follow the action for a while and you'll get it?). The NHL is in a crisis. I hate to see teams move and fold. It is not that fans in these locales don't love hockey (Quebec City, Winnipeg) but the reality is that tickets are too pricey in some cities. Remember when Hamilton was a threat to the Sabres until they realized that the city simply couldn't afford a team (along with Buffalo /Toronto territorial claims). Hockey needs growth for both players and owners to thrive. This growth will not come from franchise shifts and teams folding. Maybe Sydney Crosby's entry into the league will ignite widespread interest again?
  3. For those of you at the game this last Sunday what did Ralph Wilson have to say in the halftime ceremony honoring the 64-65 Bills? Which of the 64-65 Bills were in attendance?
  4. I concur. Nice work with the Jills!!! Thank You!!! But as my professor used to say in film class: "Closeups, closeups, closeups"!!! A zoom lens perhaps? Just kidding, those are all some nice shots!!! Not my photos but worth a view nonetheless: http://www.chargers.com/chargergirls/index.cfm
  5. Can you tell me anything about non-residents buying property in Canada? I noticed a lot of condo projects in Montreal. Are there any legal obstacles for Americans trying to buy homes in Montreal? Thanks!
  6. I am very concerned about our offensive line protecting Bledsoe and opening holes for Travis and Willis. I hope the Bills continue to balance the attack but they have to do better than ten points. If it wasn't for the Bills defense setting up the offense, the Jags would most likely have had a shutout.
  7. I would say being one of those people who drive around scooping up road kill in the heat of the summer has to be cruel on the recovery. Also, mopping up at one of those adult "bookstores" probably puts one close to "ralphitude". Sorry, you asked.
  8. Honestly, I would find a way to be around only Bills fans. I would be tempted to haul off on one of them and that would not be good for all involved. I don't like watching games with opposing fans. I can do well at keeping my mouth in check. I don't like being taunted so I don't taunt. But can you imagine a bunch of Pats fans in a sea of Bills-dom without the taunts going both ways. This is especially true once the alcohol has reached the over-indulgence level. It would not be good for me unless the Bills win. But you know yourself and your " Patriots side of the family". It is the Ralph. You will have friends. I think the invaders from bean town may have much more to worry about then you, win or lose. Putting yourself at the end of the row while wearing your Bills colors is very good advice!!!
  9. Way to go!!! Your profession is underappreciated and underpaid. I salute you and congratulate you!!!
  10. Don't worry about not getting any of the quarters. When New York had it's quarter released it took along time before I saw one out west. After a while it was as common as the rest of the states. Here is a link to the US Mint: http://www.usmint.gov/index.cfm?flash=yes
  11. I just got back from Montreal about a week ago. I visit every year. Montreal is a very cool city and living proof that Northern cities can flourish despite the weather. So Buffalo too can rebound without any excuses or proclamations from those around the country that say Buffalo is done. Most likely you will arrive at Dorval airport which is now officially known as Pierre Trudeau Airport. You can take a shuttle bus that will take you directly into Centre-Ville, otherwise known as downtown. The bus ride takes about twenty minutes to get into downtown and sometimes will drop you off directly at your hotel. When and if you buy a ticket for the shuttle bus, I recommend buying a round trip ticket as you will save a few dollars. The round trip cost of the shuttle is $21.75 Canadian. They sell the tickets at a little booth outside the terminal. English is understood but use of bonjour, bonsoir, a bientot, s'il vous plait and merci etc., is appreciated by the locals. The game starts at about 4:00 EST. Champs on St Laurent is a great atmosphere for football and other sports especially soccer. In fact, they usually ask you upon entering which game you wish to watch and they will then try to seat you near a screen showing the game. Read: stadium seating!!! If you wish to go by taxi, Champs is on the south (left) side of the street if coming from the city's main street which is St Catherine. Champs can be identified by a small bright red awning at it's entrance. The bar offers both food and drink but it is very smoky as Les Quebecois love, and I mean love to smoke! The downtown area has tons of bars, restaurants (very ethnic), coffee shops and shopping. The city's subway system has a series of shopping venues collectively known as "The Underground City". The pizza is affordable and very good. Web site for Champs: http://www.champssportsbar.ca/ Web Site for Montreal Tourism: http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/B2C/00/default.asp Web Site for Montreal Cams: http://www.montrealcam.com Web Site for ex-Centris Movie theater: http://www.ex-centris.com/ (The theater is also on St Laurent and offers primarily foreign and French speaking films.) Have fun, travel safe and Go Bills!
  12. And the other NBA owners who went along with the heist...Greedy 'tards. Atlanta Braves fans got turned off believing that their team was very good but only was going to go so high. At least they won one...
  13. I have yet to see a Bills game so far. I am interested in what everybody has seen from Lee Evans in the preseason games and practice. Is he getting off the line okay? Will the offensive line hold? Are we looking better without Ruben Brown? I just got back from Montreal. While I was up there I got to see the first Canada-Slovakia World Cup game. I paid $20 for a $40 ticket. It was an intense scene. $8.75 for a draft - ouch! I ran into some Sabres fans wearing their Satan jerseys. Some of the Slovak fans were wearing these blinking red devil horns. Satan didn't do much in the game. It was great to see hockey again. Unfortunately, the strike is going down. US looked terrific against Russia.

  15. Good answer! I brought up the question because there is speculation that some of the players may not return to Iraq.
  16. Give Cinci a good team and the fans fill the place. Ohio was screwed once with the Browns leaving. If you have a strong franchise in a football loving city then let it go through it's peaks and valleys. Ohio is intense about it's football, from high school, college and to the pros. What is the lawsuit about?

  18. Guantanamo is a possibility or anywhere else they can get in. Win or lose...
  19. Do they go home if they lose? http://sports.yahoo.com/oly/soccer/news;_y...=yhoo&type=lgns
  20. I hope you are right. Some point to Toronto with that population of 4 million as being a good market to exploit with or without the Bills and Bills fans.
  21. Look out Florida... http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/a...pical_weather_4
  22. Cleveland, Houston and Baltimore had to pay enormous sums to replace teams that should not have moved in the first place. I believe franchise shifts are bad for sports unless there is a situation that can not be repaired. Blackmailing cities (and states) into paying for new stadiums while said cities need to pay their teachers and firefighters should not be an acceptable rationale for moving. L.A. (or any other city) would rather swipe another team than pay for a new stadium and exorbitant expansion fees. The NFL has become encircled by rich vultures. If you doubt this, attend a Super Bowl weekend. I suspect New York State would put up a fight if there was an attempt to "steal" the Bills.
  23. Pay the marbles and Los Angeles (Anaheim) can have a team. But do not cherry pick from other cities. Leave EVERYBODY else alone... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylc=X3oD...ov=ap&type=lgns
  24. Bledsoe needs to play if not for anything more but to get in synch with the offensive linemen. Protection has been a problem for too long. If Bledsoe has a better idea of what his linemen can and cannot do then maybe he will make better decisions in the pocket (..and lack of one)...
  25. I would rather see the circus without Ricky. He is too difficult to tackle. It is a major loss. So is losing David Boston.
